Bill I am very sorry to say that books like this cannot possibly be summarized. Please find time to read this and you'll be pleased to discover that it is a thrilling book indeed. :)

P.S. : I know this doesn't really help.

Steve I read this series just a couple years ago--at the age of 40. I don't think children would really get the ending of this book and the series without putting some years of experience into themselves. I was really surprised by the ending and found it very compelling and smart. You don't really need to reread the entire series. Give The End a shot again.

Sammy Young Definitely give The End another go, when I was younger and I read them I found it a little hard to get into at first but once I had become intrigued by it (which didn't take too long) it was an incredible read.

Hayley the end is the best book of them all I know it gets a little repetitive but it is really good

Hannah Dear The End isn't terrific but it is still good with a nice amount of suspense at the end. Make sure to read the hidden chapter at the end. I didn't notice it before and was very disappointed with the ending. The epilogue kind of pulls the whole series together in my opinion.
