Mary Catelli | 994 comments Rusty & Co updated!

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-22/

And they get a Clue. Presti may not know why she's exempt from kill on sight, but it's kinda important.

(For those who aren't reading it, it's a look at how life could be for monster adventurers.)

Checked out a few. Great concept and it seems to have a fun sense of humor. Will definitely read more when I have time.

The summary at the beginning of this strip made me crack up.

message 3: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments A fault not limited to monster adventurers!

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
lol. Very true!

Ok, I've blown through 5 "levels." This is really amusing stuff.

message 5: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments I love the mindflyer mafia.

No plan survives contact with the enemy -- but this one had the disadvantage of contact with the allies, as well.

Finished level 6. Samurai Cube is awesome. Really amusing use of the vampires here. The stop lopping off my head runner was fun and there was a lot of great action like on this page.

This comic is way over the top but it revels in it and the humor works. And things are unusually dire for our "heroes" going into the next chapter.

message 8: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Oh, yes. And level 7 is still in progress. . . .

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
Caught up. Nice to see more from the supporting cast. Presti and Stabs make an amusing "team."

message 10: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Nevermind the plan surviving contact with the enemy -- it didn't survive contact with the allies!

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
Heh - very true. Although I'm not sure "the Chewbacca technique!" qualifies as much of a plan here. ;)

message 12: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments It does have the advantages of simplicity and elegance.

I always like the sound effect of Presti's spells.

"You're either really good at this or really bad at this." Priceless.

Hadn't really noticed them before for some reason, but now that you mention it they are pretty amusing.

message 15: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Melf's Acid Arrow has one of MELF!

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Update!

Fortunately, explanations are quick. Unfortunately, to explain is not necessarily to fix.

Mary Catelli | 994 comments I like the way this fight starts:

lol. Can't say Presti didn't kind of have that coming. Should be an interesting fight. And the ringmaster is definitely up to something behind them in panel 5.

I had picked up that she was not really Madeline, but hadn't caught the armor clue. It's a nice touch.

Mary Catelli | 994 comments http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-28/

Presti deduces things.

Which is perhaps unfair to her, since we could deduce it last week, owing to the angle we had that she didn't.

message 20: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments o my

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-29/

Presti wasn't just sitting around in the tavern while our little crew was dealing with vampires.

message 21: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments You know you could see this coming: set a signal of an explosion, and lo and behold you will get an explosion.

Probably just as well.

Fell behind a couple and caught back up.

I love the rhino launcher. And I can't wait to see what Stabs has to say about Presti blowing them up.

message 23: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Dear me. . . while you were waiting, did you anticipate Presti making things worse?

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-31/

message 24: by Mike (new)

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
Oh that was GREAT. I can't stop laughing. No, I didn't see that coming. Yet somehow I'm not terribly surprised.

Stabs is going to fillet her someday...

"If she fires an angry dwarf at me with a cannon... wait, WHAT?!"

He's remarkably calm for being stabbed through the hand. And like Stabs wouldn't have done that on a "normal" day...

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Knowing each other's faults makes for an interesting day.

Interesting. A nice and unexpected exchange of psychology. As the strip unfolded I was sure Stabs was going to say something like "that was before I was fired out of a cannon" or "that would be true on a different day" and stab him in the knee.

message 29: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Stabs is a rather pragmatic soul.

message 30: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments UNTHOK!

Somehow it just seems suitable that he shows the most pain when it comes out.

Glorious revenge for Stabs.

message 32: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Let us hope it's out of her system.

And quite useful. They did after agree that the signal was an explosion or something, and then signaled, so they did need a distraction.

The direct approach is awesome.

If step 22 is watching the guards for a couple hours, I can't imagine the painstaking boredom of the first 21.

message 36: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Maddie as well as Mimic remembers a certain rap battle.

Roxy just remembers being told of it.

message 37: by Mike (new)

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
... I'm finding I don't remember the certain rap battle. And I'm reasonable sure I'd like to. Guess it's time for some rereading.

message 38: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments It was back in level 2.

message 39: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Good heavens -- Roxy's plan worked!

Mary wrote: "It was back in level 2."

Found it. Thanks! Quite amusing (again). Love the twist in this later strip that the absurd "exaggerated" story actually did happen.

Mary wrote: "Good heavens -- Roxy's plan worked!"

Strangely enough.

... is she serenading Maddie?

message 41: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Looks like Presti isn't saving the fireball this time.

message 42: by Mike (new)

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
She does seem a little high strung at this point. Love the ringmaster's remark about the big X.

message 43: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Fortunately enough control left. . . .

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-44/

message 44: by Mike (new)

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
Well, kinda fortunately. Between Presti looking at the potion funny, deciding not to drink it, and accepting a lame excuse for Stabs not having the bazooka I'd wager that's not Stabs, and Presti knows it. Should've blasted "her".

message 45: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Yes, but this way, she can get some intelligence because the fake doesn't know it.

message 46: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments And -- she decides not to get it -- and we end up with an embarrassment of Stabs.

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-45/

message 47: by Mike (new)

Mike | 1505 comments Mod
Totally should've blasted her. It would've frightened the remaining non-Stabs more.

message 48: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments Methinks she's a little unnerved by her experiences.

http://rustyandco.com/comic/level-7-46/

message 49: by Mary (new)

Mary Catelli | 994 comments has become?

Stabs, was that ever NOT your battle cry?
