What is the best book you read this year??
Mine is The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. Wow! It's just beautiful. I've never loved a character like I love Theo Decker.

Counting by 7s is terrific, but the book that will really stay with me forever is One Came Home by Amy Timberlake. I can't get over the quality of the writing and the story and characters. - Sara Zoe

Linda George (lindargeorge) I just looked over the books I've read in 2013 and alas, I cannot come up with one favorite. I enjoyed so many! I did love the Cuckoo's Calling for one.

I just ordered Counting by 7s. I'm excited to read that one. I'm going to look up One Came Home! My smart high school boys love the Cuckoos Calling. It makes me laugh how much they love it!

So hard to decide! I've narrowed it down to Wonder, Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend, Every Day, and Eleanor & Park but there are several other contenders. I read a few stinkers, but mostly really enjoyed what I read this year.
My goal for next year: get outside my comfort zone and read at least two horror and two graphic novels. Maybe even a high fantasy or two. This year, I kept a running list in EverNote and it showed me where the gaps are.

Beth Strauss | 2 comments Code Name Verity, The Raven Boys and its sequel The Dream Thieves, and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry come to mind, but I can never pick a favorite ;).

Ms. Z (hophs) | 1 comments Code Name Verity for me, hands down. Loved, loved, loved it. I also just finished the companion book, Rose Under Fire, and loved that too. Eleanor & Park is up there as well.

Beth Strauss | 2 comments Donna, I LOVED Code Name Verity, too. Can hardly wait to get back to school to pick up Rose Under Fire - mad at myself that I didn't bring it home for the school vacation. Have Eleanor and Park on order for my book club.

I'm fairly sure I am the only person on the planet who could not get through Code Name Verity. I abandoned only six books this year, and that was one of them. Perhaps I should go back and give it another try.

Counting by 7s was a great book, (even though it was predictable).

Yes! You should try again, I didn't enjoy the beginning but so glad I kept going.

My favorite non-fiction reads this year were The World's Strongest Librarian and One Shot at Forever by Chris Ballard. Too many good fiction reads to pick a favorite!
One Shot at Forever A Small Town, an Unlikely Coach, and a Magical Baseball Season by Chris Ballard The World's Strongest Librarian A Memoir of Tourette's, Faith, Strength, and the Power of Family by Josh Hanagarne
