I am CARRIE! I love to read. I teach English so I can read all the time! :)I'm working on my Master's in Literature. It's no fun writing a thesis.
I like to drink martinis and eat sushi in my spare time.
Hi, I'm Christy. I love to read too (isn't that why we're all here?). I'll read absolutely anything if I'm bored, although if I'm not bored, I'm pretty ruthless about dropping books that aren't well written. I like historical fiction when I'm feeling rested and can concentrate (not very often with 3 kids and a fourth on the way) and romance novels when I need a quick read. Sometimes I get in the mood for mysteries, but not too much lately.
Hi, I'm Sara and I'm a readaholic...or a bookaholic as the case may be...I buy books then I find something else I want to read and those ones just become lovely dust collectors. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls who are already avid readers. (They're 4 and 2!) I live and work on the beautiful coast of Maine where the mountains meet the ocean! I work in the hospitality/tourism industry as a front desk associate and in the restaurant as resident beer expert. I love a good dark beer! I have a degree in English, but as you can tell I'm not really using it in "everyday" life and career. I love the classics, horror, and anything that isn't "pulp" fiction. I'm not a huge fan of romances (unless I'm really bored and then they're a guilty pleasure...sorta like M&M's cause you just gobble them up so fast) and I don't particularly like historical fiction unless it's set somewhere between the 20's and the 60's.
In my free time...haha...free time, that's a joke. But when I do get two free minutes to rub together, I often find myself taking pictures of anything that will sit still (I just got into digital photography!), baking, playing bookworm on line (best game ever!!!), and just trying to stay as far away from work as possible.
I'd say my favorite authors are Chuck Palahniuk, Marget Atwood, Joyce Carol Oates, and Emily Dickinson.
So let's get reading!
Hi, I'm Amanda. Living in Greensboro, NC. I've been trying to open a tea house for about three years (with my business partner), but things are slow-going, so I do taxes for non-profit organizations in order to keep the bills paid. Before I decided to do the tea thing, I worked as a stage manager in live theatre. Tons of fun, long hours, but little pay. It was totally worth it! Just before the holidays, a group of friends decided to get together every Thursday for Girls Night Out, a.k.a., "The GNO." It has been a fantastic experience, healing from my recent break up, providing a shoulder while another woman went through a divorce, sharing outrage at yet another woman's struggle over building a house with her husband but living with her mother-in-law in the meantime. Talking relationships, politics, art, and literature... And that's why I think Chicks On Lit is a FANTASTIC idea. Way to go, Tera!!! Sorry, rambling aside, my favorite authors are Margaret Atwood, Charles de Lint, I love CS Lewis though I don't necesarily agree with him, and when I need a quickie, I read the Alias Prequels, or Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vanpire Hunter Series. Yeah, I'm embarrassed to admit to the Anita Blake addiction, but...
Edit* I no longer read Anita Blake. I mean, I like dirty books as much as the next gal, but sheesh! She hardly has any action sequences and good vampire stuff--it's all just sex. I feel like she's just trying to get attention. Whatev.
Hi, I'm Crystal and I also love to read obviously. I joined because a girl on two peas mentioned this group. My book club members are all on here and we love it here! My favorites are the classics. Only within the past year or so have I begun reading more modern fiction and non-fiction and I am beginning to enjoy that more and more as well. Look forward to getting to know you all.
Hi I'm Alice and I saw this group on 2Peas. I am pregnant and currently on sort of partial bedrest so I have more time to read than usual. I love animals, scrapbooking, photography and travelling. I am currently reading "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn." I like to read almost anything.
I've seen a Tree Grows In Brooklyn on the shelves since I was in Jr High. I always mean to read it and then forget to pick it up. Do you like it?
So far it is very good in a quiet way. A friend gave it to me to read saying it is her favorite book ever!
I'm Jeanette (Scrapnchick from peas) and I am wife to one, mom to three, and I like to quilt and read.
Hello Everyone!!My name is Lisa - AKA Shawsee on 2peas. I love to read as well and am trying to make it a priority in my life - seems to have gotten away from me in the last few years due to, you know, this crazy thing called life! (ha ha)
I work as a Crisis Intake Worker at a Family Support and Crisis Care Centre - love my job, but sometimes I need to do a little escaping and have found reading a good book a great way to forget about the day's troubles...
I am the mother of one fabulous 8 year old boy and have been married to my husband for going on 11 years.
I am looking forward to seeing what everyone else is reading as I am forever looking for a good book to sink myself into.
Thanks for the opportunity to meet you all and share our love of reading together!
Ciao for now
Lisa
Hi! I am edie3 from 2 peas. I am from NC, too!Love to read, and will read just about anything. My favorite authors right now are Jodi Picoult, Joy Fielding, and Janet Evanovitch.
Hi, Y'All! I'm Paige, and I just came over from 2Peas as well. I'm another English teacher. Already have the master's degree--and the thesis was definitely NOT my favorite thing to do! My specialty was/is Southern American literature (think William Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor), but I generally only read those types of things in preparation for teaching them. I'm a bit schizo in my reading. I love paranormal romance (so Anita Blake is in my library), fantasy, hard science fiction, historical fiction, and some mysteries. I also read everything my DS reads, which means that if it involves magic, dragons, or mythology, there's a good chance it's on our bookshelves.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Hi. I am just judy from twopeas. I am a big reader, but I go in spurts. Right now I am on a TV spurt and I could use a nudge back to books.I majored in theatre and paid the bills with it years ago...now I am doing the sahm thing for my 8 year old daughter.
I love a good mystery, classic literature, non-fiction, and harry potter. I am not really into sci-fi or romance, but in a pinch will read anything...including the back of the cereal box (more than once).
My daughter just started a girl's book club, so I think she would think it was cool if I were in one too.
Thanks for doing this.
I'm Rolana, FSUScrapper on twopeas.I'm single and live in FL. I've been an RN for ten years and recently started working in the Recovery Room at the large teaching hospital where I live. I love what I do and love being able to help people. I used to work in cardiology.
I have one furbaby, a shih tzu named Charlie.
I have loved to read ever since I was a little girl. My mother gave me this love of reading and books! I mainly read fiction or chick lit. I usually don't care for romance unless it's disguised as fiction. My favorite authors are Terri McMillan, Elizabeth Berg, Jodi Piccoult, Anna Quindlen, Janet Evanovich, and Maya Angelou to name a few. I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music, going to the movies, and spending time with family and friends. I also scrap a little, but lately I haven't scrapped at all.
I'm reading looking forward to getting to know everyone in the group!
I'm Paula, paulah96 on 2peas.I've been married almost two years to my wonderful husband, Jeremy and I'm a new mommy of an almost 3month old baby girl named Sarah. We live in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
I absolutely love reading. My favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Diana Gabaldon, Linda Howard and Nora Roberts/JD Robb. Other authors that I like but can't say I love them yet because I've only read a book or two is Jodi Picoult and Linda Lael Miller. I'm always looking for new authors so I'm super excited about this website. Right now, I want to re-read books from my childhood like Little House On The Prairie and Anne Of Green Gables. Oh and I love books in a series.
Can't wait to get to know everyone!
I just saw the Little House series in my daughters book order from school and it made me want to reread them again also. I just loved those books as a girl.
I'm Peanutbirdy a.k.a. Lisa. I love reading. Can't help buying new books...well used books at book sales or thrift stores. My books are spilling out of my basket storage. They are on the floor, other bookcases.
But I do not keep books after I'm done reading. Well I do keep a few like the Harry Potter Series but the most go out into the world to my family and friends. A book isn't fulfilling its destiny just by sitting unread (again) on a bookshelf.
I'm open to a lot of different types of books...just see my list and you'll see different kinds I like. Granted those aren't all the books I've read. My list goes above and beyond that. That is just a good start.
Hi! My name is Jennifer. I am also from 2 Peas, although more of a lurker lately due to lack of time!I LOVE to read around getting my masters degree (graduated with a BA last year); working 2 jobs (included teaching at-risk 4th and 5th graders after schoo1 and a grad assistant for my university)... I also love to travel (I've been to Australia for 6 months on an exchange program) and quilt.
Some of my favorite authors include Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Elizabeth George, JK Rowling among numerous others (none of which are the authors of my research methods text book ;)
Thanks for starting this group... anything that is a distraction from school/work in sometimes a good thing!
Hi I'm Sandy. I found this group through 2 Peas also. I love to read any and all types of books, except sappy romance. To me they just are basically all the same. Sorry to step on the toes of those who love them. I love mysteries especially and read both fiction and non fiction. I love the classics too. I think I visit B&N at least once a week to see what they have. I need more room for the books I haven't read. Glad to be here.
Sandy
Hi! I'm Anne. I love to read whenever I get the chance, which is almost never. Like pretty much everybody in this group, I joined because of 2peas.
2peas is the website Twopeasinabucket.comIt's a scrapbooking website where lots of women post on message boards. The one most on here are from in particular is the NSBR board where the talk isn't about scrapbooking, but anything and everything under the sun. Tera mentioned there that she had started this group, so some ladies joined from there.
Ahhhh thank you Crystal...I googled "2peas" and didn't get anything that seemed like it made sense...haha
2peas is a scrapbooking message board. Although a lot of us frequent the non-scrapbooking message board, too, where we discuss whatever we want.
hi there!
I am from 2peas too. I love the idea of this group.
I love to read but admit that I do it somewhat sporadically. I'll read in bunches and then will fall out of the habit or life gets in the way. Then I'll read a great book and get enthusiastic all over again.
I want to read more! I keep a list and have so many books I want to read!

Hi everyone!I'm another add from 2peas, I saw the post there. I joined this site awhile ago, and then forgot about it. I really have to take some time and add to my book list.
I read mainly non-fiction. I joined this group to get directed to some fiction and expand my horizons!
I'm looking forward to this!
You probably wouldnt find it in google that way. The actual name is twopeasinabucketits a scrapbook site but most from 2peas that joined are from the NSBR forums (non scrapbook related) forums http://twopeasinabucket.kaboose.com/m...
The talk there ranges anything from whats for dinner to gun control to favorite book

Hi, I'm Jennifer. I saw this group on 2peas. I mostly scrapbook, read, and I just started knitting. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Hello, I'm Bronwen. Thistleivy on 2P's. I'm a voracious reader when I have the time, doesn't seem like there is enough lately for me.I seem to gravitate from mystery to non-fiction for the most part. Love reading history of the places I've been or want to go.
Anyhoo, just wanted to stop in for a quick sec and say hi, am looking forward to some good reads and some good conversation!
Hey! I'm Emily, and like most here, I love to read and am aiming to devote more of my time to reading. I'll read anything put before me. Mysteries and young adult romantic comedies are my favorites, but I like historical fiction, inspirational, fantasy as well. I want to write when I grow up, and perhaps delve into a little bit of politics/law. I'm 17, I play softball and the french horn, and I am currently dating my boyfriend of a little over a year. I want to go to college up north, not sure where yet, but probably a liberal arts school of some sort.
Hello! My name is Jackie and I just found this group from searching the groups on goodreads looking for a group that functioned like a book club. And I've been looking for people who love to read as much as I do. Not many people do around where (I'm a strange one) and no one else in my family is a reader. I'm not from 2peas. Can I still join? :)
I live in Georgia. I'm married and 'mom' to 3 cats and Boston Terrier puppy (whom the cats hate). In between jobs atm and just using the time to organize the house and catch up on the reading I've missed out on the last few years. I've started an online couse on HTML and I've picked up beading as well to see if I make the things that look cool (at least to me).
Cheers, everyone!
of course you can join! :)
What kind of beading do you do? I play around with jewelry making at times. What's that they say "a man of all trades"? I guess I would be "a girl of all crafts". I wish we could upload pictures Id love to see what you make.

I'm Kate from Jaffrey, NH. I am a single mother of 2 very active boys (14 and 7). I teach high school English and it is my passion and dream job. I work for an organization called YOU Inc. out of Worcester, MA who help troubled youth. The majority of the students I teach are in group or foster homes and have a learning disability and behavior issues. Every day is a new challenge.Reading is something I was born to do. I read alot with teaching and on my own. My students are great recommenders of books.
I don't really have a favorite genre. The best book that I have read recently, within the last month, was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Housseini. A terrific read by an incredible writer. I also read The Kite Runner and saw the movie (which was very well done).
I literally "just" started getting into bead jewelry, mostly because I love jewelry but the most of the stuff I see, I wouldn't buy. So it was down to Michael's for practice stuff and we'll see how I do! I do plan on having a pictures up on my blog, I'll post a link in my profile when it is up and running!
I create all my own jewelry - earrings, necklaces and bracelets. I also create earrings that I have named "Make a Statement" They range from teacups that have a saying "tea for two" or a purse with "shop til you drop"
So nice to meet all of you.My name is Ashley. I love to read, write romance novels, and blog. I have 5 kidlets and 2 grand-kidlets, 2 dogs, and 5 cats. I'm published at www.ellorascave.com, www.total-e-bound.com, and www.newconceptspublishing.com

I'm from Ohio, US, but now live in Florida.
Congrats about the baby on the way. Do you know if it's a girl or boy yet? Do you have a name picked out?
Hello I'm IveI LOVE to read in both English & Spanish...my goal is to learn Hindi & Italian and to be able to read in those languages as well.
I love to blog, I keep a journal and I am currently taking a creative writing class hoping to improve my writing skills and eventually write and publish essays, short stories and /or novels!
ooh I like this group! My name is Rebecca. I teach kindergarten at a bilingual school in a little town in Colorado. I almost became a high school English teacher until life got in the way. (I majored in Victorian/Edwardian English Lit for 2 years before switching to Human Development) I have an M.A. in Early Childhood Education focusing on special education. I have 2 children, a girl who is 10 and an 8 year old boy. I adore reading and am attempting like a few of you to read at least 3 books a month.
My favorite authors range from Austen, Steinbeck, Dickens and Bronte to Capote, Welty, and chick lit such as Helen Fielding, Marian Keyes and Jennifer Weiner.
Hey everyone, I'm Julie and I think the name of this group ROCKS! I have been a book lover since the first grade, (used to hide under my covers with a book light until the book I was reading was finished). I don't have much time to read now b/c I have two munchkins, work and am in school.....but that has not curbed my pursuit of the novel. I do "green" housecleaning, so now I listen to books while I work. It is fantastic! I have been able to absorb so many fabulous books this way....Still have that nightstand book too though. Right now it's "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Maya Angleou. I am a huge fan of cultural tales whether fictional like "A 1000 Splendid Suns", or biographical as in "A Long Way Gone," or "Three Cups of Tea". I like a book that inspires me to make positive choices and changes in my life.
Welcome EVERYONE! Glad you found us and love reading everyones intro.
Julie you mentioned the last two books I just read. 3cups of Tea and 1000 Splendid summers. I loved both!
I read everyones intro and love how I feel an instant 'yeah I get her' connection when favorite books and authors are mentioned.
Rebecca I went to school to teach HS lit (got married after my second yr and well never finished) We have the same goal! on my blog on the new year I mentioned that my goal was to read 3 books a month. So far so good. Now with this group I have so many on my "to read" list Ill never run out.

I agree, Tera. This group, because of the women in it, has already brought so much joy to every day life. Very cool...Hey, Julie, I want to hear more about "green" housecleaning. Sounds like something right up my alley.
Julie and Tera,Was the book 3 Cups of Tea good? I've seen this one and have thought about purchasing it but never do.
3 Cups was really good. Keep in mind its done as a biography and there is a lot of information about the area and villages and a lot of muslim names (and for some reason the more uncommon a name is the harder it is for me to remember) but it is an incredible story and one I wish more people in this country knew about. Very inspiring.
Hello there!I'm Nicole and I live in a small city in Brazil.I will be 17 years old in march and I love to read more than (almost) everything else.Nothing makes me as happy as getting a new book.I am not - not at all - what you'd call a big spender, but when it comes to books, I'm the biggest of them all ^-^
I read just about anything, except self help books. Those, I find very annoying.Otherwise, it could be fiction, non-fiction, romance, horror, police thriller.I am currently reading Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club and Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrel!
Hi I am Debbie. I love to read as much as possible. I too would like to finish 3 books a month (4 if I am going to succeed with the group 50 books in 2008!). I belong to a book club that meets in person once a month and we read a wide range chic lit, classics, mysteries and more. I saw some postings on A Thousand Splendid Suns I liked it so much after I read it I am now listening to it on audio to and from work. Glad to be here and look forward to conversing with you all!
I just joined and I thought I should jump in and let you know who I am!I'm Quenby (a.k.a. GaijinMama) 40 years young, either a full-time Mom to two beautiful bicultural kids, or a university English instructor on a **VERY** long maternity leave (my youngest is 4)
I've been a compulsive reader my whole life. I read in the loo, in coffeeshops, on crowded subway trains, you name it!
My favorite genres are fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal and historical but I read anything as long as it's good!
It's a good thing I believe in reincarnation because I have more than enough books to last the next several lifetimes!
My favorite authors, in no particular order, include J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter S. Beagle, Lloyd Alexander, Diana Gabaldon, J.K. Rowling, Anne Rice, and Elizabeth Haydon.
I also knit, crochet, do hand embroidery, and love music, movies and TV (Lost, House, Bones, ER, Supernatural, Firefly, Stargate SG1, and The West Wing, anyone?)
Oh and....yes I live in Japan, right in the heart of Tokyo. Just to be clear, I'm American, half Connecticut Yankee and half Los Angeles Beach Babe. My husband and kids are Japanese nationals and this is my permanent home now.
Yes, I speak the language. No I do not like manga, J-Pop, or anime.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all!
