I have number six in hardcover unread. I was a fan of this series and then she wrote what I consider to be an unreadable travelogue that badly needed editing. It has made me very reluctant to read another. I've noticed a pattern with some bestselling authors that they start producing overwritten tomes which are never edited because the editors think that readers will buy it anyway.
Gail:Thanks for that exciting news about Jean M. Auel!
I had to go way back and guess when I read the first four books. I didn't keep a book journal before 1998 (sadly) The books were published in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1990 and then not until 2002 for The Shelters of Stone. I delayed reading it until DonnaJo and I read it together in 2005. I'll admit to being excited about book six if we do get it next year. At least for the last one I have pretty good notes since we do that when we read a book together. I just have to figure out where I put them since the emails we would have sent from 2005 are long gone.

I am listening to shelters of stone in the car audio cassette, somehow missed that one. I for one love her books and am very glad more are coming up. Nancy

Trouble is it has been sooo long between books that I've lost the gist of everything. I have Book 5 on unabridged Cassettes and it's as long as a Harry Potter book on CD. Still haven't listened to it yet. Maybe if I wait now and listen to it next year when 6 comes out, it will be easier to digest.
