Clean Reads discussion

I've been reading a lot lately, and can highly recommend some good ones. I stumbled across "Hunger Games" (I think I already wrote about that one), and so thoroughly enjoyed it that I checked out what else she had written. Enter the "Gregor the Overlander" series. I found them all very enjoyable, and although they are a bit violent (nothing abover PG-13, depending on how graphic your imagination is...) as they deal with wars among various species (attention piqued?), they are clean. In fact I would not recommend them for the age group for which they are written (probably tweens) because of the death and stuff, but I really couldn't put them down myself.

also try "A Northern Light" by Jennifer Donnelly. fantastic, intelligent, and definitely no worse than a light pg-13. steer clear of her adult books, though. i tried a few this weekend, and they are definitely *not* so clean. ugh.

i loved the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society, too. and it was really PG.

I've been in an LDS book group for over 6 yrs...I have LOTS of clean reads I could share!! I'm not a YA Fiction reader, most of mine are adult fiction.

bring them on, i'd love to add a few more books to my already overloaded 'to-read' shelf. nothing makes me more anxious than too few to-read books!

I really enjoyed A Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. It takes place during World War II and is a very moving book. Have a box of Kleenex near-by when you finish!

I also love The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. We read both of these books as a Relief Society book club and they both generated great discussion.

If you are looking for books on friendship that are "feel good books" then I recommend Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek quilt books and Debbie Macombers' Blossom Street books. They are very clean enjoyable reads. I am neither a quilter or knitter, but these books almost convinced me to take up these hobbies.

I couldn't agree more about the Debbie Macombers' Blossom Street Books. Very easy and clean reads!!

I'm new to this group...but I just finished The Forgotten Garden: A Novel and really enjoyed it. It was a good, clean read!

I just picked up the Peter and the Starcatchers series, and have been thoroughly enjoying them. They're team written by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, and give the background story of Peter Pan. I'm on the third book, and have really had a hard time putting it down once bedtime comes - and being 9 months pregnant, I need all the sleep I can get... Curse you Peter and the Starcatchers! :)

I found them in the juvenile fiction section of my library, but they are by no means just for tweens. I find it a very compelling plot, and am very anxious for my library to get the 4th book in.

These are such fun books!! My kids and I have really liked them!
I just started "The 13th Reality" and so far it's been really good!
