Series Read: Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost
I'm starting book 1 on audio and I'm only up to chapter two, but it has really dragged me in! The narrator is pretty good, but the English accent she does is A.W.F.U.L. Enough that I think if I continue on with the series I may get the dead tree versions from the library instead. But you never know... I may get used to it!
Ugh I've been trying so hard to get this book for next month, but it looks like I won't be able to get to it till Feb at this stage :(
I'm in for this series, but perhaps I will squeeze two books in February as the exams are coming and I may not be able to read for pleasure that much :)

I wish that the short stories and novellas were also read by the narrator although when I read them in print, I still tend to hear the narrator's voice for Bones anyway. :)
I've already pre-ordered the 7th book from Audible.
I've read the first three books and enjoyed them overall. I agree with Karen that the audio narration is great but Tavia Gilbert's voice for Bones is too terrible. I'd definitely read them if it weren't for the 1st person POV - a pet peeve I can only get round with audiobooks.
Start the first book whenever you are ready and we will do book two once we have finished Kate Daniels in April :)
Yay! I just finished this book and was contemplating whether or not to keep reading. I will say though, if you're considering it - avoid the audiobook. Karen is right about that accent - yuck!

I just jumped into this series and am now almost done with book 6…a week after starting the first one. :)I got completely sucked in and addicted to Bones and Cat and the rest of the characters and just couldn't stop reading!
Book 7 comes out the 28th of this month, I believe...

Ummm.... yes. yes you are. lol!!
And Shanyn - that is pretty wild - good for you!

You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide…
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.
Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever…and Bones won’t let her get away again.
And I discovered the Portuguese cover, and was so happy to see that the title was the exact translation that I can't help but share it with you:
Reading starts on April, 9th
I read Reckoning a couple of weeks ago because it was a prequel. Just picked up Halfway to the grave and loving it. The Cat and Bones dynamic works well. I plan to join the buddy reads in April.
We're getting close to April now! Just a friendly reminder if you'd like to join us that we will start an informal read of book 2 on April 9
Excellent! I should have time to finish book one by then at the rate I'm reading.Ha, Karen, I read your review that starts with saying you are not a paranormal reader ;)

She's not. I'm trying to convince her otherwise :)
I wasn't grabbed from two chapters in, but I read how it really picks up around halfway and definitely agree!
My only issue was that they were really thin. The writing wasn't fantastic and there was no real placement or setting. Only once we met Sergio did I have a hint of wider plot and really find the Cat and Bones scenes paying off.
That's true, but I didn't really expect much either which is why I guess I was drawn in from the start. As you read in my review, I still had plenty of issues with the book, but it was certainly enjoyable and there is the promise of an interesting and different premise for book 2
Yeah I saw that in Sonia's comments above. Something about being a secret agent. What I really liked was the part about Bones not letting her get away a second time ;)
Yeah well. It's been a while since I settled in with a book vampire series Vampire Academy has a different sort of premise, and Twilight was just about bad enough to turn anyone off the entire genre. In my opinion anyway.
I'm not sure about continuing with VA. Maybe if the second movie is released (and I decide to watch them). I have never even attempted Twilight. I just heard too much about the awful grammar and I didn't enjoy the first movie enough to be interested
I liked the first book and the last 50 pages of Frostbite to keep going so far. And if the title of the next one is anything to go by, Shadow Kissed will see a return of the original mythology elements I liked so much in VA. What things do you Ike reading when you're not indulging Sonia in paranormal BRs? ;)
Hmmm that doesn't encourage me to go to Frostbite! lol
I guess I read anything, but I tend to enjoy contemporary fiction or historical fiction more than anything. I am also partial to a bit of YA! Essentially I really enjoy character driven novels more than a specific genre. And I love books that make me think. So in the last year one of my absolute favourites was The Orphan Master's Son because it is so well written, but also character driven and based on facts that are truly hard to believe. It is a great book to ponder afterwards, discuss with others, and probably re-read in a few years

Hmm. Well, you know it's a sign you've been reading too much Cat and Bones when you turn on the radio and all the songs seem to be Bones professing his feelings for Cat.I'm in my happy place ;)
Bounce bounce just finished the first one and ready to keep pushing forward. What date to start book two?
:)
We said April 9, but go with whatever works for you! I am just finishing my current audio and then will start book 2. I'm hoping Bones narrator's accent improves!

Probably. ☺"
A bit delayed but...haha! :D
I liked Cat & Bones's relationship/story in the first couple of books but not so much in the books following.
Perhaps a bit spoilerish but (view spoiler)
Instead of vampires and ghouls, I'm working on ghosts and mummies with First Grave on the Right and The Curse of the Pharaohs - after indulging in a few pirates (Darlene Marshall). :D
I have just started
with the same audio narrator (*shiver*)
I'm about 10 chapters in and it is interesting how she has developed Cat's character 4 years on. I do wonder about how close she is to becoming the 'monsters' that she wants to kill
Bones has just turned up, so let's see how that meeting goes....!

Well.. I can't start this one yet... I'm a bit "paranormal burned" ate the moment... yes, I know, TERRIBLE, I'm not sure how I will survive without my UF readings... but for the past weeks I can't read it, so better wait till I get the UF calling again...*taps foot impatiently waiting to the urge to come*
It better be soon... with all this paranormal books I want to read or I'll be cranky
let me know what you think of Cat in this one when you start reading Nicole!
Oh Sonia, that is so unlike you. It is hard when you get into a funk. I am *this* close to feeling the same about dystopian YA. I think I've hit it a bit hard over the last year... and let's face it.. there is a lot of rubbish out there. It is a matter of finding some good ones to get you back on the wagon again!

Yeah, I'll get over it, eventually. I hope. Last time I got this way it was with PNR - I'm still not back on track...*sigh*
Anyway... let's hope I'm back soon enough
I know how you feel, Sonia. I got a little bit relieved when we got to the end of Kate Daniels. Not because they are bad, but because we read them every month for 7 months straight!Luckily, I was glad of the change of pace when I started reading Cat. When you said Bones didn't show up till chapter 7, I'll admit I was worried. But these chapters are short as.
