Van was practically born on a ship, raised by a ship of pirate hunter swords man. When he was 17 he met a girl on an island and when he was 20 they got married and had a daughter, his pride and joy, but got divorced at age 23. When he was 24 he decided to become a pirate so he stole a ship and set sail. He often go's back to visit his daughter and see her on her birthday, even lets her steer his ship at times. He became a well known pirate for his fruit powers and sword skills.
