good luck! After one more holiday trip I am looking forward to getting back to my comfortable reading routine.
Just finished school, so looking to get in a big reading year in 2014 now that I'll have a little bit of that "free time" thing everyone always talks about.
I hope to read a lot more as well - have a plan. Let's just see if I can stick with it and make it work
I spent a lot of time in 2013 trying to get all those books read and almost forgot the joy of just relaxing with a good book, so this year I'm going to not worry about clearing out shelves or making my mountain of books smaller I'm just going to enjoy reading whatever it is I'm reading at the time. I definitely have plenty of books to pick from!
i have a lot of long reads like the game of thrones, it, the stand on my kindle. books on my kindle I'm not worried about, just bookshelf books.

That sounds good and more enjoyable to me. Reading should be a pleasure not a chore.

So far have bought 10 books but have read 10 too (though reading some little short nature books helped - it will be difficult to do that when I'm onto the Game of Thrones books or some of the dense history books).
Well, so far my reading is going very well this year. Reading more than normal for me with some persistence and finishing some great books. It's been a good beginning of 2014.
Well done Erin. I'm finding that too… a lack of interest in television and rainy weather has led to more bookish evenings.
I am forever thankful that my TBR list is keeping pace with my actual reading accomplishments (in other words: the first is growing faster than the second). I am always looking to expand my book collection and new authors.

I finished a book this morning then spent most of the day cleaning carpets. So glad that is finished. As tomorrow is Sunday, I plan to keep my pj's on till at least noon and get some reading time. Plan to start Power Play by Catherine Coulter from her FBI series.
Shannon, That explains my problem. I don't think I will ever feel that I have too many books but I know I don't have enough space.
Shannon: Some of my books are now residing in boxes (getting ready for a move) and I still have overflowing shelves. Next major purchase will have to be bookcases.
I knew you guys would understand. Karen: While in a temp situation before buying my house I had all of my books packed away for 6 or so months but somehow managed to buy enough to fill a full shelf and a half shelf. Apparently I can't live without books around me.
I'm still working on finding the perfect shelving for my house. I believe I'm going to have to have something custom made.
Absolutely, Shannon. I love to be surrounded by my books. My dream house must have a designated library (not an office), that will serve as my personal refuge and home for all my books. I even look up pictures of personal libraries online.
I absolutely agree KC !! Are you on Pinterest? I have a board entitled "bookcases and reading spaces" that you might enjoy. If you have a similar one on Pinterest, please let me know. I'm always looking for great ideas.http://www.pinterest.com/jdg444/bookc...

I got the "go ahead" from my husband to turn my boys former bedroom into a library. However his promise of new bookshelves have yet to be full filled. I painted 2 coats of a very light grey on the walls and ceiling. I got some spring green room darkening curtains for the window. I have 2 older bookshelves in the room plus an antique library desk and chair (approx 1900 from my grandmother). Just need more bookshelves to fill the room!
This reminds me of a story from my former home: My husband and I had a carpenter that we used exclusively, and over the course of a few years had him build bookshelves in every single room. In the office it was floor to ceiling bookshelves, which was very handy! Finally I had called him to put bookshelves in the last bedroom, and he said, "hey, have you people read all these books?" and I said "Well yes!" and he said, "then why the he** do you keep them?" HAHAHAA!!! He did NOT GET IT. Books (most anyway) are too personal to 'get rid of'.Jool in N. Texas

I'm afraid my books will be piled on the floor for a while after I move. I'm dreaming of a wall full of bookcases. I'm home hunting next week and I will be keeping my eyes open for that long, long wall!

I get my bookcases from Staples Office Supply here. They are made by Sauder and are a very nice looking case. 72 inches tall and 36 inches wide.
