message 1: by Karina (new)

Karina (karinargh) | 807 comments Oh! I nominate LoveStar: A Novel by Andri Snær Magnason. The comparisons to Orwell, Vonnegut and Douglas Adams makes it look wonderfully interesting - and it's got the love right there in the title, right?

message 2: by Lynn (last edited Dec 30, 2013 05:29PM) (new)

Lynn (lmelliott) | 686 comments How about The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion -- The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion.

It has a nice red cover, a heart around the title and it's the only vaguely romantic book on my to-read list :-)

message 14: by Janet (new)

Janet (goodreadscomjanetj) | 784 comments I would like to nominate Five Quarters of the Orange Five Quarters of the Orange by Joanne Harris by the same author as Chocolat (Chocolat, #1) by Joanne Harris . This book is also set in France, the author is half French. The review by the Library Journal says "Tragedy, revenge, suspicion and love are the ingredients". Goodreads book description talks about the character's mother's "sensuous love of food. It is also classified as historical fiction and Romance.

message 15: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 581 comments I'd like to nominate Almost French: Love and a New Life in Paris by Sarah Turnbull, an Australian who moves to Paris and finds the love of her life.

The Goodreads blurb quotes the author: "This isn't like me. I'm not the sort of girl who crosses continents to meet up with a man she hardly knows. Paris hadn't even been part of my travel plan..." It is a true story of someone coming to grips with the Parisian way of life and sounds like part travelogue, part journal, part memoir.

If you scroll to the bottom of the group home page (or click read shelf for 2014 Reading Challenge), that's our shelved books for each month - I should check myself to see what we read before I joined in August.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 773 comments If anyone's interested, both Stardust and The Rosie Project are available on Amazon for $1.99. I have both and would be happy with either.

One other to consider is The Wedding Dress The Wedding Dress by Rachel Hauck by Rachel Hauck, today's Amazon Daily Deal at $1.99 as well. It fits the "Je t'aime" theme.

One note: I think the Amazon prices may be limited to the USA due to publisher agreements.

This is part of the description from goodreads:

Apparently there's also a film based on it that's coming up soon, it's already in post-production (according to IMDB)
