priya (gpriyaa) There are many lists everywhere asking what books you love which books you recommend etc. So This is a place where you can share your hate for a book.

Remember to respect others opinions. Everyone has different opinions for books so don't insult the fans of the book in any way. But otherwise go ahead express your hate for a book. Criticize it to your hearts content.

message 2: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I personally really disliked the iron king. It seemed to me like a attempted I natation of Alice in wonderland. I also hated every single character (I am not joking all of them) except for Meghan's friend... That guy that went to school with her but is actually a fey (I forgot his name). I think this book could have ended up very good if it didn't have that love triangle with the ice prince and Meghan's fey friend, and if it wasn't a total copy of Alice in wonderland. I think the idea of the story was very creative and I might've really liked it if it was not the way it is.(if that makes any sense.)

message 3: by Emily (new)

Emily (tmi_lover26) | 45 comments Books that absolutley kill me are when the author creates a heroine that is too perfect. She is usually too beautiful for her own good but was never noticed in highschool or when she was younger. She also has very few faults and the ones she does have are insignificant or very rarely mentioned. If the book is supernatural she is almost always very powerful or very skilled without putting in much effort. Finally, and most annoyingly, she has every single male character lusting after her. Every. Single. One. This girl is basically a Barbie that no real girl could ever relate to. The perfect examples of these types of books are:
-Unbound by Cat Miller
-Born at Midnight by C.C Hunter

Secondly, I understand that a lot of people like artistic books. People don't want to read the same thing over and over so I'm not critizing authors who try to be different. What I am critiquing is books that push so hard to be different that they literally do not make any sense. I'm talking about the books that had the potential to be brilliant but just took a nasty turn to the weird. Books like:
-The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
-Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

*I don't mean to offend anyone, so if you disagree I'd like to hear your point of view (=*

message 4: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I 100% agree with you with the perf main girl character.

Though I also hate the perfect boy character that every girl is lusting after. I'm always trying to hunt for a book without any of these types of characters. Though I'm usually unsuccessful in finding any.

message 5: by Jordan (new)

Jordan | 8 comments I read a lot of New Adult books and the main boy and girl characters always have some hidden, dark, traumatic past that affects the girls interactions with men and turns the guy into a man whore who doesn't let anyone into his actual bed until he meets above girl because she's different. BS. she's just like everyone else.

THough i continue to read these books, i love it when i can find one that doesn't make me roll my eyes and/or want to gag and strangle myself.

message 6: by Anmol (new)

Anmol (basicallyrun) | 11 comments I think the series I hate the most is the House of Night series.
The book is basically all about Zoey, Zoey, Zoey. Oh, and her man problems. 3 boyfriends? Come ON.
She basically has all 5 elements in her control (air, earth, fire, water, spirit) while her 4 main friends all have one each. Her friends are always after her, "Hey, Zoey! I love you Zoey! I hate you Zoey. Get off my back, Zoey. I'll give you another chance, Zoey!"
Like no, Zoey's friends. She's a terrible person and can't keep one guy at a time.
All of a sudden, some black-winged oh-kill-me-so-beautiful-but-evil-angel comes along, and Zoey finds out that HE LOVES HER!!
The first two books were good. I shlumped my way through the next three. It was the sixth one that made me collapse and break down and scream. Why, Cast, why!?!?
ZOEY IS WORSE THAN BELLA TAKE MY WORD ON THAT.

Have you read the newer books? Cuz those are actually so good. New characters and everything.

message 9: by Allison (new)

Allison K. | 53 comments Ok, I'll try reading them. Thanks ^.^

message 10: by Nina (new)

Nina | 27 comments For me, definitely the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz. I have a thing of never abandoning a book. Even if it's difficult, or silly, or I'm indifferent to it. This series made me break the habit. The main character is, like, soooo different from her mindless peers who only think about clothes and boys, except her every outfit is described in loving detail for page after page, not to mention it's worth a small fortune. (Seriously, that was the worst part; there were so many brands on those pages the cover should have a "product placement" disclaimer sticker on it.) The incest thing between her one true love and her rival (his twin sister) is only thrown in to appear edgy, and naturally the male lead (who of course is the most popular guy around and falls for the outcast) is disgusted by it, although it's supposed to be natural, if not sacred, for their kind. To top it off, being Greek, I assumed the protagonist's name in English to be Skyler, only to look it up and see it's actually Schuyler. Schuyler Theodora Elizabeth Van Alen Chase, to be exact. The whole thing had such a Mean Girls aura about it it couldn't possibly convince me there was a real supernatural threat, and there was a storm of cliches. Definitely not going to finish this series.

message 11: by Cath (new)

Cath | 37 comments The divergent series
It seems so cliché
The world is under described
The characters don't have much development
The writing is eh
And I just didn't enjoy any of it

message 12: by Eri (new)

Eri (musicspeaksforemotionsunsaid) | 123 comments Dark Song. All it was about to me was not listening to your parents, a guy cradle robbing ( He was what 21? And the girl he was "doing" was 16?), the same guy had a very creepy obsession with guns, and the girl kept sneaking out to have sex with this guy.

No just... No.

THAT IS SO TRUE. I take your word but I think they are equally bad XD

message 14: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I really hated the maximum ride series, when I first got it I was expecting it to be the best book ever but it had a meh feel about it (the first and second book I mean. I was always planning on reading the rest of the series but never had the time and then just lost my interest so I just decided to read reviews about it, and I just can't describe how awful the book seemed just read reviews and you'll understand how dumb the series was (especially nevermore)

message 15: by Cath (new)

Cath | 37 comments ^^^ I agree
I read the whole series and the only ones worth it were the first three

message 16: by Scout (last edited Aug 20, 2014 09:40AM) (new)

Scout (moonofmylife) Really no offence to anyone that actually like these books. This is just my opinion.
Some books I didn't like: Obsidian, Hallowed, Hush, Hush, Crossed, Lola and the Boy Next Door, Breathe, Beautiful Disaster

message 17: by Marina (new)

Marina (mmarinareads) | 15 comments Wake by Lisa McMann was that book that made me want to burn it. I find the characters undeveloped and the story has so many plot holes. The romance was unrealistic and there was literally no chemistry between the characters. This book had great potential but it was ruined. So disappointed.

message 18: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 341 comments 100 percent agree! I remember reading Wake in a day because I just wanted to finish the stupid thing! Then for whatever reason I decided to read the whole series which of course was a huge mistake because the last 2,though a bit better then the first, still sucked. What a waste of time!

message 19: by Lili (new)

Lili (ceclor97) | 16 comments I hate the sweet trilogy by Wendy Higgins. It's just so incredibly cheesy, and one of those books where you forget the characters are SUPERNATURAL because they're shown in such a poor light.

message 20: by Marina (new)

Marina (mmarinareads) | 15 comments Hi Ashley! Glad that someone understands me. After what I've heard I don't plan on continuing with the series.

message 24: by Aishah (new)

Aishah (halnix) | 112 comments I hate Jeff Nesbit's Jude. It's just so ... ugh!
It was badly thouht out; the plot didn't fit the ideas Jeff Nesbit seemed to want to address; the characters were lame, and I can go on and on -.-

message 25: by chinami (new)

chinami Obsidian. I hate it with a passion. The hero treats the girl like crap and sheyostill wants him. Disgusting! Also this series has on story at all. It's erotica wrongly shelved under young -new adult collection.
Shatter me. The heroine was so whiny I wanted to drop something on her.

Alyson Stone (alysonserenastone) | 281 comments Crispin The Cross of Lead (Crispin #1) by Avi , Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen .

They just didn't do it for me.

Chesa (bookfreakme) | 24 comments Am I the only one who hates the Unearthly series? I don't know why but I just hate it. I have nothing against the author or the writing. I just don't know.....

message 28: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) I hated the vampire academy series, after I got to book three I just could not keep reading

I hated rose she was a hypocritical bitch that is the I will lie to you to

message 29: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) (Sorry IPOD messed up will continue)

- protect you type (I hate that type I feel like bitch slapping whoever does that) she keeps making these seriously idiotic decisions and just ugh... I hated how rose and dimitri were love interests, it made me sick teacher student relationships make me wanna throw up. The supporting characters were great though (especially Christian) but we didn't see much of them because 1st person single POV (through rose eyes) and I prefer third person multiple POV. Rose almost seemed like a Mary Sue to me. Roses friend and Christians love interest (forgot her name) really annoyed me in the beginning because of her depression (glad that got taken away). Also it didn't feel like there was any plot, every book that I read seemed meaningless (maybe they do end up having a meaning later, but that's later in the series not not).

I have nothing against the book in terms of writing author or anything else, the book just didn't wiork for me (at all in any way). Will be reading am going to read bloodlines one day though, maybe I'll like that one.

message 30: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) Sorry for huge rant, just had to share

message 31: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Priya wrote: "Sorry for huge rant, just had to share"

That's OK. I read those books too and though they were hilarious even when people died or got hurt (actually especially when people died and got hurt)so read all of them. Believe me don't finish them though. I recommend bloodlines though. It's from Sydney's POV and about her job of protecting Jenny and living with the vampires. I warn you though there is a little romance (like forbidden romance stuff) but they're MUCH better.

chinami Priya wrote: "(Sorry IPOD messed up will continue)

If you despised the forbidden romance in vampire academy, what will you say for the incest that is prevalent in the mortal instruments series (book 5 and 6 )? I had a difficult time with them.

message 33: by Jehan (new)

Jehan | 33 comments I really didn't like crescendo silence and finale from the hush hush saga

message 34: by priya (new)

priya (gpriyaa) Veronica:

Honestly the incest wasnt that bad for me, i would have hated it if I wasn't so happy that something bad was happening to clary. I don't like clary and it makes me happy when bad things happen to her. Also they weren't raised together or knew each other at all, so that made it a little less gross. Also I love sebby and love it when he does anything evil. (Some Sebby/clary moments were a also my favourite scenes in part 2 of the series eg. When they went to have coffee, I'm sorry but also the rape scene (I laughed at clary), and when have and clary did it and later sebby comes and tells clary, you know I feel everything have feels so technically you did it with me too, see I have nail marks too.

But if it were any other two people I would have been horrified, and be getting ready to shred the book. Also I think it would have been worse if Nathan and Tessa had some incest, they are technically cousins and once upon a time cousins got married. But Nathan and Tessa? Please allow me to punch the book in the face (if that's even possible)

message 44: by jessi (new)

jessi | 38 comments I hated Eat Pray Love By Elizabeth Gilbert. I didn't like that by the end of this book it still made you think that it is not your responsibility to make yourself happy. That only with a man you can find happiness. Whereas, it is, in fact, your own responsibility to make yourself happy. Being happy without being with a man does not trivialise love. You should find challenges, entertainment, fun, excitement, passion, the thrill of mastery and satisfaction of achievement through your own doings, not who you are doing. Love might enhance this. It cannot substitute this.

message 45: by Jehan (new)

Maya (mayabd) | 17 comments i didn't like the Warrior Cats series by Erin Hunter. I read the first 3 books because a friend really enjoyed them, but i think it's VERY BORING to read about cats who only patrol, hunt, kill and sleep.
And most parts are theatrically almost like a Manga!!!

message 50: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 43 comments You know, I hated allegiant and it's not cause she died but because the ending was SO predictable that I made a bet on the ending and won. Also the middle was boring and she could've done so much more with the world beyond the fence than she did.
