This challenge is asking us to read 24 books this year, but I'm sure that most, if not all, of us are planning to read more than that. Do you have a number that you're shooting for?
This past year, I set a goal of 125 books. I'm actually finishing out at 130, so I'm pleased. I spent about a month or so where I didn't really read much, so it's possible that I could hike the number up for 2014, but I figure that Life Happens every year, so I'll stay put for 2014 and attempt another 125 books read.
For the past couple of years, I've had a jar that I use to "pay" myself for each book I finish. I set a price of $5 for prose (novels, bios, etc.) and $3 for manga and graphic novels. At the end of the year, I turn it in for Amazon cards to feed the coming year's purchases. Depending on the ratio, I net between $300-500 per year.
