Homeinmyshoes wrote: "12 books?!? I'll be done 12 books by the middle of February at the rate I am going. :)"Yeah, I'm reading a lot of short stories. Not more than one a day. So the number of books I'll finish will be low.
As I mentioned on MR, I got a Kindle 4 for $23 (plus a cover and charger for another $26), and gave it to myself for Christmas. I opened it up on Friday, and charged it (which I think was unnecessary). For the past four years I have been "purchasing" free eBooks from Amazon. Last night I went to McDonald's to use their WiFi, and was shocked to find that I had exactly 400 books in my archive!
So yesterday and today I downloaded about 60 of them, some of which are magazines and short stories. I'm thinking I won't be spending much on books for the near term!

Thanks, Nyssa! I've always been quite content with my jetBook Lite. But thanks to two special deals, I got my Kindle for $19 plus $3 tax. So I thought I would go ahead and take a look at all those free books I'd been "purchasing."
$20?!? I might upgrade at that cost. I still think I want a Kobo for easier library lending in Canada.

The first week of December, as I recall, Best Buy had the $69 Kindle on sale for $49, $20 off. So with the $30 gift card I was given, it cost me $19 plus tax.
Help! See my Dec. 31 post above? You will note that the ticker says 0. Yet at its website it says 2. How can I make it say 2 here?
By the way, who was the "deleted member" who started many of the original threads? Anybody remember?

GA wrote: "LOL! I never knew she left!"Heh. She was gone for about a month, maybe two..not sure. Just glad she came back. :)
I was without a computer for ten days, so instead of spending my time on the internet, I read!10...06/02...Pitchers of Beer - Dan Raley
11...06/06...My Word is My Bond - Roger Moore
12...06/07...Prince Valiant, vol. 1 - Hal Foster
13...06/10...Last Team Standing - Matthew Algeo
And with that, I have reached my goal for the year!
I know nothing about John Beck and his professional resume in the NFL is thin. Been out for more than a year. Mr. Glenn is a pretty reasonable backup, no problems there, but Lulay is a definite star and a bit better scrambler. If Lulay isn't much healthy this year BC needs to lose him and work on another plan. That said they should be fine without Lulay, but it certainly makes any injury to Glenn more concerning. I'm curious what kind of hangover Saskatchewan has this year.
I get tired of the press EVERY YEAR saying that there is extra pressure on the team of the city which will host the grey Cup.
Yep. Given the Riders usual percentage of winning the Grey Cup, I'd say we can start talking about our chances in about twenty years. I'm sorry, even as a Rider fan, every win is an aberration.
Thanks, Mrs. J! I'm getting the Prince Valiants from the library. Scattered throughout North Carolina are the first ten volumes. Each volume includes two years.
I'm enjoying them a great deal. Tonight I start vol. 5!

I received 12 books for Christmas this year, so I will meet my goal if I merely read everything Santa brought me.
