1. tales from the 1001 Nights
I really enjoyed this - I think my favourite thing about it is the way that many of the stories end:
For instance ".....the two lived in amity and peace until the there came to them the Spoiler of worldly mansions, the Dark Steward of the graveyard; the Shadow which dissolves the bonds of friendship and ends alike all joys and all sorrows" - so much better then And they all lived happily ever after.

Yes the film is very close to the book - though I think they adapted the first 3 books into the one film.

Definitely helps to increase the book count when you're reading a lot of children's books :0)
It definitely helps to read something fun once in a while

My dad's a big fan of His Dark Materials - I thought it was very impressive- but I prefer my children's books rather more nostalgic and charming :0)

Never got into Just William myself - but I know a lot of people who love them.
My all time favourites are Winnie the Pooh, the 5 children and it trilogy - surely one of the earliest fantasy novels for children and of course the Alice books.

Thanks Angie, in the opposite of my defence (my prosecution?) - a lot of my reads have been on the shortish side and I don't spend much time trying to finish books that I don't get on with.
