Poems are cool. I like them but I don't write many, and all of mine are free verse. Is your account accessible by me?

Okay. I'll look you up...
I do have one "poem" posted on GR, if you get a chance and want to check it out.
It was written for another group I'm in when the topic was "hardships."

I was able to find you, Narnian, without making an account or anything. I read your poem about the Aspen tree. I really liked it! :)

Here's one of mine from my poetry blog. All comments welcome, link for blog bellow. :)

"Greatness.

Remarkable or outstanding in magnitude
Degree or extent,
Of signifocence or unforgetable importance,
So says Proffesor Dictionary,
But what is greatness?
Your photo in a magazine clear and bright?
Your name on a skyscraper in neon lights?
Yes, illustrious indeed is a crowds' applause,
But that shouldn't be all driving personal cause.
Maybe I won't get the biggest spotlight,
Or have the most time on T.V.
But this is what greatness is to me:
Do what the good Lord made you for
And do it well."
E.J. Norris.

Darn, can't edit it out of the blog post. Oh well. Never claimed perfection. No, haven't read yours yet. What do you usually write about?

message 18: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments Not God, but hey.

I wrote one thing about war.
And another about Summer...
I don't write loads. The Summer one just came from a writing prompt...

To each his own. Poetry is all about what you feel. I use it when I need to get something off my chest or I'll feel moved to write about a particular concept that's come up in the day. For instance, I might think to myself one day, skittles, what a remarkable candy. I'll think I'll write about it. Of course my favorite format of writing is the novel. :)

message 20: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments As is mine, hence only two poems. Read them please?

Read the war one. My, my, my. You certainly are good with words. I loved the rhythm it had and how you incorporated older English. That is a rare thing to see these days and it was a good concept to write on. War is indeed a ghastly thing. I couldn't find the summer one, but I'm sure that it is equally well worded. :)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments I linked, second link.
Thank you, for the praise.

I daresay that is half the reason I write.
Egotistic me.

A certain amount of self confidence is healthy. There's no shame in enjoying a compliment.
There are many reasons why I write and I'm so very proud of my soon to be published novel. :) I hope it strikes a chord with people.

message 27: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments OK, good point, but trust me.
I'm an egotist. I'm selfish, arrogant, and inconsiderate. I like it.

Ha! Funny! That's a theme in my book! Allow to summarize. Don't worry I'll avoid spoilers by not mentioning names.
Two friends were held captive in manor and one of them had the courage to try and escape and go find help. He crept his way through dark corridors and out a window. Slowly he began climbing his way down a stone wall. On his way he started to think of what a great story his escape would make; how he could dazzle people with his courage. The thoughts were a distractions, he lost his hold, and he fell.
Such things ever worry you?

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments Not really... I think most people think that I jest when repeatedly boasting of my superiority. I'm not. I am actually more intelligent than you. Trust me, I'm a genius. Literally.

Good thing most think you're jesting because if not many would lose patience.

message 34: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments I don't really have a main one at the moment. Various fan-fictions...
One thing based on a revolution plotline...

So historical fiction?

message 36: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments Some. And two sci-fis. But not really sci-fi as in Star Wars...

The Phantom wrote: "Some. And two sci-fis. But not really sci-fi as in Star Wars..."
I like fantasy best. I may experiment with other genres later. Fantasy and sci-fi both give a lot of freedom for creativity.

message 38: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments Yeah. The historical fiction isn't really historical. It uses an alternate universe, but this one's laws of physics.

When I hear physics I think math. That stuff always gives me a headache.

message 40: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments The laws of physics.
Stuff like:
Conservation of mass
Conservation of Momentum
The theory of relatively.
