Since I have this book on my Nook Tablet. . .I will be reading Dial C for Chihuahua by Waverly Curtis. Once again it will be a first in a series for me! Happy reading to everyone in 2014!!
I was very surprised!! I know I really enjoy animal stories, but thought to myself "Self...I bet you are going to have a hard time coming up with a cozy that has an animal as a main character." So I went to look. Wow! I have 5 separate authors with an animal themed book. Non of which I had started and all new unread authors for me. Was I surprised! So after looking at all of them I have decided to read
Smoky Mountain Tracks by Donna Ball. I know this is an older series, but I have the first book in the series and reading it will determine whether or not I want to continue with the following books. I think I prefer to read older series. It is usually much easier to get the folowing books in a timely manner, since you are not waiting on the author to write the next one. And - this appears to be an on-going series - since the last one written - #8 - just came in this last December. Gives her time to stay ahead of me - with 7 more already published...LOL!!
I'll be reading The Case of Jack the Nipper by H. L. Stephens. Stephens is a new-to-me author. Set in Victorian England, this sounds like an interesting variation on a cozy mystery in that the mystery is solved by Mr. Marmee, a marmalade cat, who's learning the investigative trade from his new housemate, Mr. Happy Heart, a dachshund detective. Sounds like a fun read!

So ..."That's a great idea, ♥Sandi. I'd never heard of the Raine Stockton Dog Mysteries. As you say, since it's an older series, access to the books should be easy! I love the idea that if I really enjoy the characters, I have eight books to prolong the fun! ☺
My book: Dial C for Chihuahua by Waverly CurtisThis book was so funny, I laughed most of the way through it! The plot was awesome and there were so many twist! I loved the conection between the main character and the dog. It also made me wonder if my dog might actually know what I am talking about!
If you are looking for funny and quick read, this is it!

The affection and respect between the animals and their human friends enriched the story immensely! How they all worked together to bring some vile evildoers to justice was very entertaining. I'm looking forward to reading about detective dachshund, Sir Happy and his feline friend and detective-trainee, Mister Marmee, and their further adventures together!

Humor goes a long way in enhancing my enjoyment of a book, too, Christina! Thanks for the heads up! I just added Dial "C" for Chihuahua to my ever-expanding to-read list! I can't wait to see how you feel about it, Candace! ☺
I'm going to read Death in Show by Judi McCoy. I can't wait to read about the character's special ability to communicate with dogs. If only I had that power!
♥ Sandi wrote: "I was very surprised!! I know I really enjoy animal stories, but thought to myself "Self...I bet you are going to have a hard time coming up with a cozy that has an animal as a main character." So ..."I love that Series.

For a book that animals are main character. Look a new e-book that has been out only for a short time. CATS WHO SEARCH THE WEB by Karen Anne Golden. If you like cats you will enjoy it.
I finished Death in Showby Judi McCoy and enjoyed it very much. The mystery was very interesting- a handler at a dog show dies after putting a dog treat in his mouth (a trick handlers use to get their dog's attention) and the main character, Ellie, has to step in "show" the dog in the competition. The mystery was intriguing. I was charmed by Ellie's ability to talk with her dog, Rudy, and other dogs. Like I said before, I want to do that! I like Ellie and am looking forward to reading the other books in this series.
My choice was Dial C for Chihuahua by Waverly Curtis. I didn't finish this book. I found it irritating that Pepe was always speaking in Spanish. If I wanted to read a Spanish cozy then I would. Also the protagonist, Geri seemed somewhat dim. When she picked up the gun at the murder scene, I thought to myself " Who would do that?"

I think I have found mine but need to read a book to review before I check out It Started with Theo. A dog apparently takes a major role.It Started With Theo
A cat was involved by Spencer Quinn. In this cute prequel to the Chet and Bernie mystery series, you can hear it straight from the dog's mouth! Chet is in his final challenge to graduate as a K9 cop, when a cat appears, and ruins everything! He has no choice but to chase the feline down. After all, the cat is the prime witness to a crime. Find the cat, find the criminal. Simple, right? Not when chasing a cat gets you booted out of the K9 core.
I liked A Cat Was Involved and will read more of that series, but now I am going to read Paws for Murder
Gearing up for the next challenge!! I love doing these because usually the books I have to choose are new to me author or a little different from what I normally read in the genre. I probably wouldn't have read Dial C for Chihuahua if Candace hadn't made this challenge.HAPPY READING!
