I too almost Dnf'd this book, but found the ending more than made up for any issues. I wish people would stop recommending this as a FSOG-a-like. My main issue reading this stemmed from my expectations of it being similar. This book is not erotic romance. It's actually closer to Dean Koontz than E.L. James.

Thank you! I do agree with what you wrote. The end deffo made up for the rest of the book and because it's a trilogy I will read the others :)
me 2 at some point thought about putting down the book i think that it got monotone and too detailed but the last chapters sure made up 4 it and i got why the author did all that description i also really loved the quotes on each chapter and found my self tryin to picture what to expect while reading
i think althea rowming did a great job with the trilogy in general this has become one of my fav books ever
I have finished all three of the consequences books and now have read her new one Behind His Eyes the consequences series which tells the story from Tonys mind. He is a heel and a real egotistical piece of shi.... but i cant get enough of these books and look forward to her other two books behind his eyes truth and behind his eyes convicted.
This is one of those books, I love to hate and hate to love. I had a really hard time reading it, and I am currently on the last one...I've been postponing reading it. With all the abuse it's very difficult to read, and it takes on the entire Stockholm Syndrome element. Did anyone else have a hard time reading it, and then actually feeling like Tony could be a good guy? I am so torn!
When i was reading these three books i wanted Tony to be the good guy even after reading everything he did. when i finished behind his eyes which gives his point of view i now believe he is an evil sob. however i am a romantic and love conqures all even evil. that is why i keep reading all these captor slave stories.
That's so unfortunate to hear that he is evil. I am still working on the last book, but now I am not sure I can commit to it. *sigh*
I read the consequences series a few months ago and let me just tell you the story stuck with me. It was so different and unique but what struck me was that I hated Tony instantly. I never felt like that for a hero before and I wanted to find Tony redeeming and forgive him, but I couldn't and all I saw him as was a monster who thrives on being cruel specially for everything he did to Claire and what she had to endure with him. I could not understand what Tony and Claire had, considered as love and I felt she was blinded or to fuck up to see that whatever they had was vengences. I felt that Claire was so God damn stupid and gullible to put too much trust in Tony. I had a hard time reading this specifically when Tony asks Claire to marry him. I was screaming at my kindle for Claire to say HELL NO! The book is really good especially the ending I did not see that coming but I just don't understand or could even phantom how Claire stayed with him. You would think as a rational, human being that if your husband, boyfriend or whatever he is to you was abusing you physically, emotionally, mentally that he is not the guy for you and you NEED to move on. But NOOOOO! That does not happen and I think that is what struck me... is that I would never understand why or how there was a happy ending in the series when in reality all Tony is in my perception is a MONSTER!!!!
Question is, should I continue to read the book and see what happens...or should I turn and run away?

I hated the first book but ill admit the ending did have me on the edge of my seat and ill admit i even considered reading the next one. But TBH i decided against it. Simply to keep me sane. The amount of times i wanted to throw my kindle through a window because of how wrong this book was. I read the Dark duet series and loved it and thought the same would be true for this one but i seriously wanted to burn it. I have never hated every single character as much as in this book. I wish i loved it like alot of you but i just cant see the attraction

Read them all - Tony is the one man you love to hate or hate to love. Take your pick. I made the mistake of binge reading the series during an ice storm and consequently I think I need intense therapy. :) The series group is a fun place to be too

I think that is a great idea.

I am only up to page 135 so I really shouldn't be discussing this yet, but the book is soooo exciting and different and sick.

Even people said this series is great, really caught their eyes, not my cup of tea.I really don’t understand what the writer wants to say. Tony planned so many years for his revenge plan, to hurt those who hurt his family. His grandfather was caught by FBI agent because using the faking documents. This is the real crime!! He holds Claire as a prisoner, he abuses her on every way he can and put Claire in jail finally. But Claire does love him. I can understand how stupid of women when they fall in love, I don’t understand is that worth?? To have the daughter with the guy who hurt you in deep??
Sorry about that, maybe I am not American, I don’t understand the culture of yours, to be honest, I really don’t think the series is as good as the other said.
I wonder if a society has the ability to disavow a book? I'd hate for this book to go down in history as being somehow reflective of American culture.
I was horrified by the lengths that Tony went to to hurt so many people and the amount of time and money involved. Wouldn't you Have to be evil....or a Insane. Could Not understand why Claire didn't try to kill him once he gave her "freedoms". I would have. Any way, I haven't read the other books. I read for pleasure and this just wasn't a pleasant book. Well written, definitely thought provoking but not an Easy read
I am one of the ones that loved this series.♥ I am not sure how this book reflects on American culture though. It was just a really intense read and by the end of the series I was Team Tony.... which my 10 year old daughter has told me is crazy and if anyone in my family was involved with someone like Tony I would have them committed. But I do think you have to be in the right mind set for reading this series. It is filled with so many twists and turns and I yet to read Tony's POV because I am not sure I can handle it right now.
I loved it too Michelle. But I do think you have to read beyond the first book, Consequences. I wasn't sure I'd read any further in the series until the last part of that book. After that, I was totally hooked and read straight through the rest of the series without stopping. These are extremely complicated characters and the plot of the series as a whole is intriguing and full of shockers. I don't know the last time an author surprised me with twists & turns right up to the last page of the last book as this one did. My hatred of Tony did turn to love as I came to understand the manipulation that he himself was under. There is a Master Player at work in this series and it's not Tony. I love a good suspense and this series is suspense with a capital S. The abuse in the beginning was hard but I think it was necessary for the author as she began weaving this complicated game of chess and revealed the plot & a love story piece by piece. I've read through all the releases including Behind His Eyes: Truth and can't wait for the last one in May.

But yeah, the fact that you probably told her it would not be ok for her to date someone like this, makes this whole thing ok...
what has our society come to?!
Elena wrote: "Michelle wrote: "...It was just a really intense read and by the end of the series I was Team Tony.... which my 10 year old daughter has told me is crazy and if anyone in my family was involved wit..."That is why this series was so great... because Tony was a monster but by the end the author was able to turn it around so that you felt for him.
But this is only fiction and I don't think this book reflects on society nor does Aleatha Romig go around condoning rape.
I wasn't able to buy into Tony's redemption either. To each his/her own, but I don't think the author should have made Tony THAT much of a monster if her intention was to attempt to redeem his character later on.
