Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments I've signed up for 6 books, but hope to read more.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 106 comments I signed up for four last year, and found it rather easy to "accidentally" read ten - I found some new authors I really enjoyed, and they'd written more than one book. Absolutely fatal! Hope you enjoy the challenge.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Thanks Leonie. I'm sure I won't have a problem reaching my target, I have some plans :-)

Brenda Enjoy Mary!

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments I am looking forward to discovering some new authors along the way. Your list is a good start Brenda.

Brenda Thanks Mary:)

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments I've just had a quick browse and added 23 books to my aww-to-read, so don't think I'll have any problems reaching my very modest target of 6.

A question: Is Lian Hearn, who was born in England but emigrated to Australia some time ago, 1973, considered an Australian author? All of her books have been written since then, both as Lian Hearn and in her real name of Gillian Rubinstein.

message 8: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Lian Hearn would definitely be classed as an Aussie Mary. :)

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Thanks Brenda, just thought I had better confirm.

Brenda No worries Mary...best to be sure:)

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments The Railwayman's Wife
My first book for this challenge, and it was a good one, the story of Anikka Lachlan whose husband MacKenzie is the railwayman of the title.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments The Light Between Oceans
I just loved this book, didn't know whether to hurry to the finish to find out the ending, or go slowly and enjoy it a bit longer.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Murder and Mendelssohn
This is the latest in Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher series, and up to her usual standard. I always find these books enjoyable, I think the characters and setting are interesting.

message 14: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Mary would you be able to put your star rating by your books please? I just searched for The Light Between Oceans without success...it's just nice to know what rating you gave them:)

message 15: by Mary (new)

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Sorry, Brenda, I had put stars for the books on my shelf but not on the group's. I think I did it on the app on my tablet which isn't as clear as on the PC.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Burial RitesHannah Kent takes us to Iceland in the 1820s to tell the story of Agnes, convicted of murder and condemned to death.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Antidote to MurderThis is the second in a series of stories about Dr Dody McCleland, set in London in 1911. Really liked it and will read the others in the series too.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments The House of Memories
And this is Book 6 of my challenge, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. But don't think I'll stop here, there will be more added, and I'm hoping to take part again next year.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments A Dissection of Murder
I knew when I signed on for 6 books that I would read more, so this is my first extra. It introduces Dr Dody McCleland and Detective Inspector Pike, who work together in London, 1911.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments Ruby & RoseThis is the first book in a fantasy series, and was written by my sister-in-law. I hope others will enjoy it as much as I did.

Mary Smith (maryws1) | 31 comments I am revisiting a favourite series from my childhood (maybe I'm now in my second one!) and have just finished A Little Bush Maid, which I last read at least 50 years ago. I'm very happy that I still enjoyed it, though in a totally different way from my childhood reading.

I loved those books!
