Which narrators are your favorites for audiobooks?

The narrators that really stand out in my mind are...

Tammy (tammymerlot) I really enjoyed the audio books Anna Fields (Kate Fleming) narrated. Her voice was golden.

Tammy (tammymerlot) Oh! And ditto on Lori Petty! Very entertaining. =)

stormhawk | 1184 comments I do not listen to a lot of audiobooks. I don't drive enough to do so! I love hearing Harlan Ellison read his own work, though. His version of Repent, Harlequin! Said the Tick-Tock Man is fantastic, as is A Boy and his Dog.

For some reason, I hate listening to audiobooks in the car. I like listening to them before I go to bed, and I sometimes listen to them while I shower. :) I put them on the docking station, crank up the volume, and suddenly I enjoy my shower soooo much more. :) You should try it.

Jackie (thenightowl) I'm still new to the audiobooks world but I love listening to Neil Gaiman read his own work and Jim Dale for the Harry Potter series.

I usually listen at work if I'm doing something brainless. Sometimes if I take a walk around the park I will take my iPod with me and listen to an audiobook. It's a great stress reliever. Also before bed I will listen. It helps me unwind and if I can't sleep at least I'm listening with my eyes closed so I'm getting some rest. lol.

For something that's just lots of fun, read Good Omens The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

Anne I agree, BJ. Good Omens is one of my favorite books!
Joy, you should really give Gaiman a try. I liked Stardust, by the way.

I saw the movie and loved it...I guess I need to pick up the book one of these days. Are the book and movie really different?

message 13: by Anne (new)

Anne Yes and no. They did a decent job with the movie, or at least I thought so. If you are going to pick up a Gaiman novel for the first time, go with Good Omens. He writes so many different kinds of books, it's kind of hard to pin down what you would like, though. I have a shelf of Gaiman books on my Goodreads account, if you want to check it out.
