Awesome! I'm just over halfway through this on audio and am loving it.It's very different to King's usual style.
That was the first and only King book I have read. I'm thinking of reading The Shining for my next king book. I look forward to the discussion!
Annie I am not a strong King fan (like I am Koontz)I liked the Shining, but don't watch the movie first. They are different. Next to 11/22/53 my fave is The Stand and that is one huge book.
I started this book a few years ago only to have to put it aside, not because I didn't enjoy it, life has a tendency of getting in the way at times. Looking forward to reading it! Love King and Koontz!
My Favorite Stephen King Books are Firestarter, Duma Key and Full Dark, No Stars :-) Looking forward to 11/22/63
LOVED this book (read it when it came out) It was fascinating, since I lived thru it as a teenager, and have always wondered about all the controversy of JFK's assassination. The door into the past, and the rules about visiting we're "rational" and clear: added a depth of mystery to the novel. I think it's one of King's best.
I could literally see all his research into the topic.

I have read a couple of chapters when I first got it, when it came out, but I haven't picked it up since. Not really sure why.

I am reading Twilight Eyes right now so I am going to procrastinate starting 11/22/63 :-)

I wanted to start it tonight, but the local library winter reading challenge starts tomorrow, so I am waiting until I sign up for that. Library opens in 14 hrs!! I feel as if I am in an adult time out!
Finished
. Enjoyed this book! Is it one of my favorite Stephen King books, no, but it is not far from the list. Wondering what everyone else thinks of this book. Looking forward to the next group read.

Do you mean the next non-Koontz title? Because I will be getting the nomination thread going soon for that as soon as I feel like it :-) In other group read news, Forever Odd and The Vision will be featured in March.

Yes, sorry Dustin, the other non Koontz title. Someday I should really start the Odd series, have heard nothing but good things about it! Haven't read "The Vision", will have to look into it as well!

Lo..."It was a different type of Stephen King book. I had to refresh myself a bit. I read it when it first came out. I did enjoy it. Koontz is a lot more then Odd Thomas. I actually enjoy Koontz more and I was hard core Stephen King. It's refreshing to find a writer that put a new spark in theses types of books. I startd with 77 Shadow Street. U should defietrly read that.

I am venturing to library Monday and going to see if they have "The Vision" or "Odd Thomas". Haven't read "77 Shadow Street" yet. First Koontz book was "Intensity", actually read that one twice, so very good! Although I have read more King than Koontz, I like them both. Amazing writers!!
This is a great group!

I like when authors such as Dean Koontz and Stephen King tie their other stories into the book - such is the case with 11/22/63 I am currently reading about an IT connection in Dairy, Maine.
been a big fan of SK for a long time now and read nearly all of his booksI wasn't sure on this when I read what it was about, didn't sound like a SK novel, but I have to say it is one of the best books I have read in recent years, loved it
Read it when it came out, and recently have just been through it again with the audio book version
I have been reading King longer than Koontz and I am a major fan of both......I loved the Stand.....then Robert McCammon came out with Swan Song and bumped The Stand to my #2 fav book......as always. If they write it I will buy it !!!George R R Martin's series Song of Ice and Fire has become my favorite story though!!!
I did enjoy King's nostalgic trip thru the Kennedy assassination years....he can tell a story and paint with words like no other ......except Koontz!!! Lol
Stephen King is a master storyteller!!! I very much loved 11/22/63. I have enjoyed everything else by Stephen King that I have read.
Well Dustin.....there are a few King books that I did not like at all....but I feel he threw some out there back in the day....to pacify his publishers greed....he seems to be back to his perfect story telling again though so I forgive himYou should read Swan Song- Robert McCammon and the 1st book in ice and fire is Game of Thrones....if u have not read them I urge u too....I was blown away and I don't normally read fantasy.
I have only read newer King books: Full Dark, No Stars, Duma Key, Just After Sunset, The Green Mile etc are a few :-)
I don't even count the Bachman books as King books....they were so weak....I know his publishers worried readers would not buy if he published too often....this turned out not to be true....so I feel those books were a waste of his time and talent....some of his King books were not very good anyway.....but when he is "on" he is brilliant !!! Books are the only thing I will spend extra money on and if I don't love the book I donate to the libraries here. :-)
I have read a lot of Stephen King books includinding the entire Gunslinger series, I enjoyed 11/22/63. It was different. My problem with many Stephen King books is that the story is so good but his endings are often disappointing, the Stand is my favorite. 11/22/63 did have a good ending. As well as story..

I felt that way with Under the Dome.
I felt that way with Under the Dome.
I enjoyed reading Fire starter about four years ago and thought it was similar to something Dean Koontz would write.
