Wow Bridgette - you're keen. I have 4 books on the go and they are equally good. Can't pick a favourite just yet. BUT I guess my favourite book of 2013 was The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, with The Humans by Matt Haig in second place. That sort of tells you I like quirky!?!
I have to say im enjoying the dresdon files series so that has to be my favourite series of this year that im reading. :)
I have read a few awesome boos so far this year (and a fair few on the TBR I expect to be as good before the year is out) These are my top favourite so far;The Lazarus Prophecy
Natchez Burning
The Traveler's Wake
Skin Game
Please share your favourites of the year so far
So far 2014 has been a bit of a YA year for me, I've read the maze runner trilogy, which was great, The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (just started the 2nd in the series), and Sally Greens Half Bad (no doubt a book 2 is on the way). I have also enjoyed quirky ones such as The Other Typist and Mr Penumbra's 24 hour bookstore (it's like Dan Brown only better as it doesn't have lots of twists and turns) Burial Rites was very good, as was The girl who saved the king of Sweden (not as funny as The 100 year old man....etc but still good). Throw in An Indiana Jones meets A-Team in Chris Kuzneski's The Forbidden Tomb... But I think the one I have enjoyed most this year so far is Stephen King's Mr Mercedes just found out it's the 1st in a trilogy so can't wait for the other 2....
I think my favourite book of 2014 has been:-
A Rose in Flanders Fields by Terri NixonIt is a love story set in WW1, but brings a wealth of atmosphere of what life was like for the ones fighting, the VAD's who went to pick up the wounded and dead from the battlefields and the, sometimes atrocious conditions they had to drive their field ambulances in, and also life back at home for the families. There is also a mystery to solve involving family loyalties. Really believable characters woven into a fictional tale but based on lots of facts.

Looks good, I've added it to my list
So far I have two favourite books for 2014: My Dear I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young and Still Alice by Lisa Genova. Before The Fall a debut novel by Juliet West comes in at a very close third.
Sorry for cheating folks - but I've got another favourite.......
Old Man and Mr. Smith: A Fable by Peter Ustinov.....but I so thoroughly enjoyed this book, I had to give it a mention. Below is a link to my review of the book if you would like to see what it's about.
