Clamp discussion
Welcome!

hello all! i saw the group when i was rating magic knight rayearth 2, and decided i had to join! lol.
anyway, sorry for getting off topic. my collection of manga seems to be pretty shotgun worthy when it comes to authors. but somehow clamp keeps coming up when i'm picking out a series. so, that was pretty much why i decided to join. i'm a bigger clamp fan than i give myself credit for! haha! but, i'm probably nowhere near as big of a fan as out fearless leader. :)
haha! I love Clamp! I read their manga more than anyone else's. (I still like the others, just not quiet as much in most cases)

i think the creepiest manga i have is mermaid saga. it's pretty good though. i don't know, it's no walking dead. my boyfriend loves that graphic novel. oh, but zombies are so creepy!
i see afterschool nightmare from time to time at the bookstore. is it something worth looking into?

that is different. is it well written? a story like that can flop easily if it's poorly written.
i always thought it was because one couldn't tell a story but knew how to draw, and the other could tell a story but couldn't draw to save their life. well, it might not have been too bad. sometimes it's better to have two heads instead of one.
true. but then i always wonder about creative differences. what if it doesn't go as one of the pair envisions? do they break up the team? i guess it's not like i'm going to ever find out about it, i mean i only read published works.
I wouldn't want to break into a team because what if I wanted to draw things differently than they were written or if what I wrote was not being drawn they way I liked. You know what I mean?
exactly! you have to be such a creative person to pull off having a good series, and i know that being in a team can be quite beneficial and produce lots of good works. but, if it was your baby and you thought that the team was killing it by going in a different direction... i don't think that i could handle it if it were me.
Well, anything you create seems like "your baby." ha! That reminds me of the time when I wouldn't let my art teacher even touch one of the pictures I had painted. hahah
that totally happens to me when i cook for my family. my mom just pushes me over and starts adding things and changes the complete direction of the meal. so frustrating!

anyways, i read the first book of tsubasa and i dont think it was taht great
it was kinda boring
i liked all twelve sakura books though! Toya is freakin hot and cute, syaoran is second lol
it is a good series, i totally agree. i only read volume 2 though. you don't see cardcaptor sakura too much anymore. i can see if you were looking at tsubasa to be a continuation of sakura to be disappointing. when tsubasa came out, i really wanted to read it, but a friend said that i should read sakura first since it appears to be cont. from it. it really wasn't the case at all. clamp just reused faces and names, but not much of anything else in the series.

yeah, i was thrilled and excited to see how they did by smooshing all of their characters from their mangas into one, but it was pretty disappointing...
i like sakura's feathers though and the little bunny creature...i think it was called mokona or something...
yeah, mokona orginates from magic knight rayearth. which is also a good series. clamp reuses all of their characters in a good chunk of their series. so it's fun to keep seeing what they reuse and change.
i would suggest xxxholic. i personally like that one better than tsubasa. plus, even though they tie over, you don't need to read tsubasa at all to understand the story.

waahhh
i wish i could buy whatever books i wanted
i LOVE going to Barnes and nobles
but my mom doesnt like buying books for me, because she doesnt like me to read so much
it might be in the "young adult" section. but i doubt it too. newer series are a little slower getting to libraries since they typically don't have big budgets, and people probably don't donate them as often. you can always check out hastings or half price books. those are awesome deals! your mom might be concernded that mangas are expensive and they are after all comics.

yep six sakura books under twelve dollars
i wanted to get it, but my mom doesnt like me reading manga
yeah, she would rather have me clean the house lol
i must totally try to figure out that ebay deal! lol! i'm just not that trusting. i think i'm going to get ripped off or something when i order online. atleast when i'm in a store, i can feel and know what it is i'm buying.

its this thing where you can pay with your credit card or bank account without the other person seeing your info

i dont like buying stuff off the internet either unless its something like walmart.com or barnes and nobles
but yeah, i feel scared to click Buy Now buttons on the internet
like neat quotes from people and add it to the group? i think you can, but i wouldn't know how to pull it off.
By the way, you can make any topics you want. This group is just starting, so I'm gonna need some help.
