"Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction Ice is also great And would suffice."
When he left…the world became eerily -- empty. When he left, my heart shattered into millions of shards of ice that pierced my innermost soul. I could never forgive him no matter how much it hurt me to walk away. It had all come down to me choosing between the two people I loved the most…and I had made a decision. I had chosen a mortal life.

As the truck rumbled down the familiar muddy track overshadowed by enormous Fir trees that soared fifty feet or more above, Billy’s home then soon crept into view. Glancing out of the half-open window I noted the cluster of topless muscular guys loitering in the shadows of the forest edge, no doubt waiting the arrival of their new Alpha pack leader and his mate. Without hesitation and shaking my head with a grin, I forcefully shoved the squeaky door open and jumped out as the tyres pulled in front of the weatherbeaten wooden shack. I let my gaze linger for a moment longer on the waiting pack in the woodland clearing, before spinning around to be swiftly swept into the warm embrace of my boyfriend. The familiar soothing smell of sweat and animal odour comforted me, as I nestled like a baby bird into the ridged contours of my protector’s torso. I allowed myself to bask in the overpowering heat that raidiated off his body, before finally tilting my head to look up into those kind eyes that contained a flickering spark of something much more intense.
“Bella”, he sighed. It was the one word that passed through his lips before they closed over my own in a deep passionate embrace wherein all I could do was melt into his moulded form. If Sam’s howls across the vast clearing had not in that precise moment reached our ears, I do believe that I would have there and then submited to those animal instincts that threatened to consume me. Taming such a wild creature wasn’t easy, especially when desire and lust tended to override all rational thoughts of sensibility and restraint. Finally we parted and I stood motionless watching reluctantly as he sliped away, sprinting with such speed over towards the jeering onlookers whose mocking squeals and shouts had already provoked thier target.
Choosing to follow on foot I watched as Embry grabed Jake in a headlock, punching playfully at his face as others soon joined into the scrap, with Quil and Seth following behind at a slow jog. Trudging through the dense forest of towering conifers and spruce, I chose to veer off to the West leaving the pack to continue on their path through Quilette terretory. Scrambling through the thick undergowth and bashing branches out of my way, I came out into a wide open clearing at the top of the cliffs. The raging waves crashing dynamically against the jagged rocks miles below me, contrasted the clear pastel blue sky above on this pleasant Spring morning. The drop to the water below must have been at least several hundred feet, and as I recalled the ‘adrenaline rush’ when one jumps from the top to plunge down into the water’s murky depths. I just stood there with my eyes closed, letting the wind whip through my hair and the cooling breeze across my face wash over me a feeling of contentment. Last month I had felt such a raging fire inside and had jumped off this very cliff edge in search of my one desire - - a nonsensical act that led to my rescuer coming to my aid once again. Edward…was magnetic. Dangerous. Yet, Jacob Black had always been there for me…steadfast, unyeilding constancy in love.
Not wishing to dwell on past events I quickly made my way to the log cabin where the pack were feasting on blueberry muffins, loudy chatting amongst themselves around the table. Sam Uley nodded his head as I entered the crampt room and strode across towards the table where I aquired a muffin, much to the displeasure of Jared who was already scoffing his third ravinously. My eyes darted to and fro from one face to the next, finally resting upon Leah who rushed over and flung her arms around me in a warm hug as soon as she became aware of my presence.
“Bella! It’s so good to see you - - wolf girl!” she exclaimed, as my eyes finally found jake’s who was leaning against the steel lintel by the open doorway. Smiling I then spun around and leaving the youngsters to feast, I followed Jake like a little puppy out of the cabin and down the rutted track which led to La Push beach. It was great to be a part of the pack and yet I relished those moments in which we were able to be alone, walking and talking together like we used to without Sam or one of his followers trying to listen in. As we walked together a ray of golden light infiltrated the blanket of stormy grey clouds above, illuminating our path across the sloshy quagmire of wet sand beneath our feet streching out far into the distance.
I had made my choice…and despite soul withered and internally weary, I was contented.

“Two sides, impossible to choose choosing one, another I’ll loose the right choice? There is none, the wrong choice? More than one. Making one choice, the other will fall, how long for time can I stall? With both choices, so much is lost, how, with each decision, can the price be such a damaging cost? My choices are bold, both outlined with threat, they both taunt me, confusing me, the further to my decision I get. One is fire, the other ice, so different, yet so alike. One is a passion, the other is love, one is a desire, and the other is life. Fire- he’s warm, he’s reassuring, He’s like the sun, of which the warmth I strive. Ice- he’s cold, yet an addiction, he’s like the moon, from which the glow I survive. Ice and fire- How can they be alike? The need for both is the similarity that strikes. How can a life change with just a touch? The question is: die old or die young? Sacrifice all or sacrifice one? Let go or hold on? Die now or live long? Stay mortal or immortal? It’s just another way through another portal. With each side there’s darkness, with each side there’s a light, however, choosing one will result in a fight. One is fire, one is ice, one is the sun, and one is the moon. So how can they both stay without letting the other one tip, fire over ice, the sun over the moon, either way it’s an –eclipse."
Based on the Twilight series
"Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction
Ice is also great
And would suffice."
