C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments I have yet to read that one! I feel so encouraged when I hear a lot of good word on that book.

Hi my name is CJ (or if you want you can call me Christopher or Chris for short) and I am a newbie when it comes to Christie. The only novel I have read of hers is "And Then There Were None" but that book is such a classic it is so far my favorite mystery I have ever read.

Malcolm Noble | 0 comments My name is Malcolm. I run a secondhand bookshop, which has two boxes of AC, so I guess I'm in a better position than some of you. I'm an oldie ... 61 ... I have a "pretty good" run of AC 1st Edns but my main collection is UK Raymond Chandler editions. I suppose favourite detective writer is Cyril Hare (or Freeman Wills Croft) Favourite Christie is, probably, Crooked House or Cards on the Table. Went to see And Then .... at a local amateur theatre before Xmas. Website is malcolmnoble.com My fortnightly podcast (malcolmnobleshow.com ,, sorry) has a Christie feature each time. Let me know what you think, sweet or sour.
I'm enjoying this group very much. Hello folks!

message 3: by Mark (new)

Mark (markvanvollenhoven) | 28 comments My name is Mark, 47 years old, married with two lovely but way too smart daughters who actually do like to read and refuse to take any reading advise from their dad, it is mostly Vampire and Hockey orientated novels for them in which I am somewhat not knowledgeable. I have worked mostly as a social worker with kids.
My reading habits are according my wife somewhat mysterious for every Saint or a the Shadow novel there is a Goldfinch I like to read. My pasion mostly lies with mysteries and then the rather older one like before WOII when it is stil about smarts and less about the whole CSI malarky.
My grandmother had the whole Christie collection and every time I stayed with her I did get to read some, even if I was sometimes far too young to comprehend all that went on.
Over time I have revisited Christie's writing and the movies based upon her writing. I am well chuffed being part of a readinggroup that will read most novels again over the next years.
My first Christie in English was "Death on the Nile" which I still like due to the setting.

message 4: by Mark (new)

Mark (markvanvollenhoven) | 28 comments I always enjoyed reading to my kids when they were younger, both me and my wife did so for a long time. While the kids liked it we probably enjoyed a lot more as it was a revisit to our own youth. Which is always a surprising journey.

message 5: by Monica (last edited Jan 07, 2014 04:49PM) (new)

Monica Hi my name is Monica. I began reading AC books in junior high. My first read from her was "And then there were none" and after i was scared for a moment realize i loved it and went back to the bookstore to collect another AC book. I must say she was the first author i read without having a book assignment and the one who help me discover my love for reading. My favorite book from her is "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd". I dont read much mystery anymore once i discovered historical fiction(I have an obsession with Gail Tsukiyama my all time favorite author ) and fantasy. But i thought it would be fun to revisit the author and her great works who took up alot of my free time in junior and high school. Lol. And btw i am done with the first book and cant wait for the discussion

message 6: by Rebecca (last edited Jan 08, 2014 11:39AM) (new)

Rebecca Pierce (thensingsmysoul77) | 5 comments I started reading Agatha Christie books about a year and a half ago, but I've read quite a bit in that time. I doubt I could pick a favorite. I loved most of them and really liked the others. My name is clearly posted above this message.

message 7: by Alberto (new)

Alberto Alberto, 45,

Read about a dozen or so AC novels back in my High School days. A mixed bag of great stuff (Roger Ackroyd, Orient Express) and some truly execrable stuff (Postern of Fate, Nemesis). Trying to be more systematic in my reading this time around. Wouldn't mind re-reading any that I read before if they come up in this group.

Just finished Murder on the Links. Reading the Miss Marple short stories now.

Just for fun people can check out my review of "And Then There Were None." Note: This review contains NO SPOILERS!! I hope to encourage people to read books not give the plots away.

message 9: by Tushar (new)

Tushar Damle | 4 comments Hi. My name is Tushar. I was introduced to Agatha Christie in 2007. From 2007 to 2011, I read about 40-50 of her books. My favorites are:
1. Murder of Roger Ackroyd
2. Hercule Poirot's Christmas
3. Curtain: Poirot's Last Tale

I've haven't added any AC books to my shelf because I've forgotten the plot of many of her novels. I've joined this group to complete all her 85 books and properly shelve them

message 10: by Richard (new)

Richard | 9 comments Hello my name is Richard, I come from Barnsley and have just started to read Agatha Christie after finding one of her books in my mothers library Hercule Poirots Christmas after the first couple of chapters I found I could not put it down and had to read more and more. After finishing that book I decided to download the Mysterious Affair at Styles and like the other book was captivated all the way through it. I have finished that book and the first thing I did was download the next book and am looking forward to reading it.

message 11: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (debala715) | 7 comments Hi all, my name is Debbie. I'm a 50 year old, newly married Chicagoan. So in other words, I'm freezing my butt off right now. I read my first Christie when I was 13 years old, but I don't remember which one was the first. All I know is I've read every one and I'm re-reading them over again as it's been YEARS since I read them.

message 12: by Sarah. B (new)

Sarah. B Hi everyone. I`m Sarah from Wales and love Agatha Christie. My favourite has got to be and then there were none.

message 13: by Alberto (new)

Alberto Just re-read that one, and I agree. It's awesome!

message 14: by Randee (new)

Randee Baty I'm Randee from SE Kansas and Agatha Christie is my favorite mystery writer. My two favorites of hers are And Then There Were None and At Bertram's Hotel. I love discussing books so I'm looking forward to an active and lively discussion.

message 15: by Brian (new)

Brian | 2 comments Hi everyone. I'm Brian from San Diego. My favorite Christie book is Murder on the Orient Express, although I recently read Murder at the Vicarage and loved it. Looking forward to hearing what everyone else thinks of it.

message 16: by Ruth (new)

Ruth Fitzpatrick Hi everyone! I'm Ruth from Ireland, but currently living and working in Equatorial Guinea, in West Africa. It's so hard to name my single favourite Christie book.. I recently read - and thoroughly enjoyed - The Secret of Chimneys. My favourite Poirot is probably The Labours of Hercules, and my favourite Marple would be Murder at the Vicarage or any of her short story appearances!

My most recent read was While the Light Lasts which was incredibly interesting and offered quite a great deal of insight into Christie's development as a writer.. I look forward to when it appears on our reading list in the future, as I think it will throw up a lot of discussion!!

message 17: by Alberto (new)

Alberto Welcome

message 18: by Isobel (new)

Isobel Atkins Hi, I'm Isobel and I live in Melbourne, Australia. My favourite Christie books are The Hollow because I loved the characters and the atmosphere she created. Also The A.B.C. Murders because it's classic Christie at her best.

Malcolm Noble | 0 comments Isobel wrote: "Hi, I'm Isobel and I live in Melbourne, Australia. My favourite Christie books are The Hollow because I loved the characters and the atmosphere she created. Also [book:The A.B.C. Murde..."

Both of those have got to be classics. Hollow probably has the edge, yes, because of the characters. Good choice

message 20: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 35 comments Hi!! I'm Cindy! Glad to be here. Love my Agatha Christie. As far as favorites go....gonna have to think about that....

message 21: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Hi Cindy!! Glad to know you can't pick a favorite Christie novel. I am fairly new in reading her works so that's great news for me!

message 22: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 35 comments Hello CJ!! Yes, I cannot pick a favorite at the moment because it is very late...lol. But, I am kind of new to her books also. Have only really been reading her for the past few years. It just seems like one book is just better than the last. :)

message 23: by Shell (new)

Shell | 5 comments I have been a fan of Agatha Christie for over 20 years. Reading her autobiography now but am excited to find like minded ppl. Is everyone still on the current book or is it coming to an end?
Shell

message 24: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments Hi Shell! I think a good amount of people are still reading the book . . . this book ends on the 31st. I am surprised I have never ended up finishing late which I am sure is okay in this group. Whether you read slower (like I have in the past) or you have found out near the end of the month about the deadline I don't think it would be so bad.

message 25: by Shell (new)

Shell | 5 comments Thanks CJ, it's spring break for me so I will get started. I tend to read fast :)

message 26: by C. J. (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 367 comments That's good. Being in this group I learned I could read faster. Seriously the first year I joined Goodreads my "Reading Challenge" goal was 6 books!

message 27: by Shell (new)

Shell | 5 comments Nice!!! I'm happy to have found this group and good reads. Working on getting through the book before Monday :)

message 37: by Elena (new)

Elena | 3 comments Hi,

I'm Elena and my mom got me interested in Christie back when I was a teenager. We read some of the books together. My favorite book.....wow, hard question! There are a lot I haven't read, but so far I really like A Murder Is Announced, Hickory Dickory Dock, The Mysterious Affair At Styles...well, I guess maybe I can pick a favorite after I've read them all (or most of them.) :)

message 38: by Mark Pghfan (new)

Mark Pghfan | 95 comments I have been popping in on the specific group discussions, but thought I'd look in here at the "introduction" discussion. I have been a huge fan of Christie for a very long time and have read all the books multiple times. They never seem to get old. Even though I know "who-dunnit" the experience is still pleasurable. It is truly difficult to pick a favorite, but, at gun point, I'd have to say Murder of Roger Ackroyd.

message 39: by Elena (new)

Elena | 3 comments Thanks, Lauren!

message 40: by Oscar (new)

Oscar Aparicio pedrosa | 1 comments I'm Oscar from Spain. In recents years i have started to read in English, and if it's possible, listening the audiobook while reading the book.

message 42: by Ems ☕️ (new)

Ems ☕️ | 5 comments Hi, I'm Em. I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie's books (that's why I'm here haha). I decided to read all her works following their publication order and I'm currently reading The Listerdale Mystery And Eleven Other Stories.

What's my favorite AC book? Well, that's not an easy question. I cannot choose one, so I'd say The Sittaford Mystery, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd and Murder on the Orient Express, but there are so many that I love.

I'm glad to be part of this group and I look forward to reading all of you!
