Haddie got out her violin. She randomly wanted to come here even though it wasn't band. She started thinking about random stuff until her brother walked in. "Stop stalking me!" she yelled at him. "Too bad!" he yelled back.
Nicola walked in, listening to her music. Her hands were black from dust, she walked to a sink and washed her hands. She has walked miles, just to wash her hands! 'I can't wait until the shop gets plumbing! she thought
Steph looked up. Well, she didn't really 'look' up. Blind people can't exactly look. She turned in the direction of the sounds of voices and headphone music. "Hello!" She cheerful girl said sweetly from her bench in the corner. She liked to come here and just.... Listen. Or listen to something. The loud sounds of normal school hurt her extra sensitive ears, or she'd go to listen to the sweet sounds of instruments. She tucked a strand of her red velvet dyed hair behind her ear as she turned toward them.
Haddie frowned, but started playing anyway. She closed her eyes, knowing the piece by heart.((Gtg, gotta go watch Doctor Who!))
Nicola looked up and saw other people there she blushed and the water pipe burst. She cursed, and took out a wrench from her utility belt. She fixed it a d turned to the girl on the bench. "Um, hello?" She said awkwardly. She looked at the other girl playing the violin.
((Can't miss The doc.! :) ))
((Can't miss The doc.! :) ))
Steph smiled, noting the awkwardness in the girls voice. "I'm Steph." She said gently, not wanting to make the girl awkward. She shifted her legs from crossed to up on the bench and cross-legged underneath her, now more comfortable.
Nicola took out a pen and started to take it appear and pur it back together . It's what she did when she was nervous she fixed things. "I'm Nicola, but most of you call me Mechanic"
"Well, which do you prefer?" Steph asked, moving her messenger style backpack from the seat next to her on the bench to the floor in front of her, giving her room to sit down. She turned to her hopefully, patting the seat next to her in an invitation.
Nicola.Sat down next to her. "Um, thanks. I prefer Nicola or Nicky but I don't really care" she explained
"If that's what you prefer, then you should care." Steph said gently, smiling as Nicola sat next to her. She turned to face the other girl, her reaction a little hesitated due to her lack of sight.
"She's a good violinist, huh?" She whispered to Steph.
Steph tilted her head, listening hard. "A little catch on the C note. But that's the violin, not the player." She said, then realized only after that Nicola probably couldn't hear it. It was hard for even Steph to, and her hearing was highly honed to try and make up for her missing other sense.
Nicole.nodded. So Steph was blind. She placed a hand on her shoulder. "Must be hard" she said gently
Steph jumped a bit at the touch, not expecting it, but soon relaxed. "What must be?" she asked, though she already had a guess, raising an eyebrow at her.
"You know...You can't see" Nicola said afraid she had said something wrong.
Steph shrugged cheerfully, unoffended and used to people pointing it out, and their awkwardness. "Well, you get used to it. It's not a problem."
"Oh, OK" Nicola said and took her hand away and started to fiddle with a screw.
"No. Not really" Nicola smiled.
Steph turned to the violinist. "Your C string catches a bit. Might want to put a little bit of lubrication on your strings so it doesn't get worse." she advised with a kind smile.
((YeH, Srry hw))
Nicola clapped
Nicola clapped
"It's not a big deal now, but if you're not careful it could become one." Steph went on kindly, leaning back against the wall behind her.
Nicole just started to undo and redo the wrench
"I'll put some on later," Haddie assured her. Her brother got up and grabbed something from the closet.
Steph tilted her head, hearing the guy get up and move, "What's that?" she asked curiously. "And who?"
Nicola wasn't paying attention. She was looking at hee schedule. She vary had.any lessons cuz pupils kept braking stuff and Nicola was always the one to fix it.. it was getting anything.
"My brother is being stupid as usual," Haddie said. He grabbed a guitar and walked back. "I found this," he said, smiling.
Steph shrugged. "You'll have to be more specific than just 'this', I'm afraid." she sighed, making air quotes around 'this'.
Steph smiled. "I used to play, but now that's my sister's thing." she said it a little sadly, then held her hands out for the instrument. "May I?"
Steph took the guitar and ran her fingers across it, hitting all the strings. She tuned a couple, then readjusted it into a proper playing position, in her lap. She played a couple notes, shifting her fingers across the neck as she ran the ones in her other hand over the ones farther down. She smiled. She was a bit rusty, but the basis was right. She smiled and leaned back against the wall as she started to play the beginings of a song. It was a little slow, but the notes were right.
"Hello Haddie and Anthony." Steph grinned. She stopped playing and held out the guitar. "Here, Anthony."
