I already read it. I like it but I like the movie even more...

Yes. And the spirit of the movie was diferent, lighter

I read about 1/4 of the story and I can see what you mean about ridiculous. I loved the movie and I like the voice of the R in the book, but I am noticing all the changes. (view spoiler)[Who knew that when he met Julie he was married. It seems like the zombies in this book have a much better vocabulary and verbal skills than any other zombies I have ever heard of. Also, I have to admit that the different kinds of zombies is a bit confusing to me. I expected the bonies, but there seems to be a whole lot of different kinds of zombies in the book version. Also is it me, or does R seem like he is older in the book? (hide spoiler)]

Also the whole car scene took on a whole different feel in the book. (view spoiler)[The kids are with them this time and his wife with the other guy. So strange. (hide spoiler)]

Yes the car scene was weird. And then there's a scene where he sees the wife cheating on him. Like doing it with the other guy LOL

I can't take this book seriously but it's interesting enough to continue :P

Yeahh I think so too. And I've seen the movie, I never thought that the movie could ever be of 'comedy' genre (it wasn't much comedy in the book...as far as i remember), but the movie was pretty good :D

I was thinking he must have died in his 20's since he was in a suit (but then again he could have been going to church or a school dance), but I still have not figured out how long he has been a zombie. Especially after later in the book he mentioned that zombies decay (is that the right word?) at different rates).

I almost think this is one of those books where you should read it before the movie. I am finding that I think I like the movie more than the book at the moment. I can understand not being able to take the book seriously (view spoiler)[the zombie church, the marriage and adopting children, and the sex has definitely been a lot to take in. I think I like my zombies to be more mindless and brain thirsty. (hide spoiler)]

Haha definitely! I have found that after watching movies, I've found the book not as good (and I think that's a bad thing since the book did come out first...) This happened with Carrie and Ender's Game lol

They definitely keep the essence of the book but leave out the weird/unnecessary bits.

Honestly now that I've seen the movie I think it was a lot better than the book. But still, the book has its perks too ^_^. I remember being pretty attached to it when i was about 80-90% done. I cant remember what it was XP. Alright I'll just start reading it..

Sounds like you will be rereading it. Would definitely be interesting to see what you think after a reread.

(view spoiler)[Can I share something that I have found strange. Does anyone else feel like M is actually progressing faster than R. It seems like his speech caught up to R's pretty quickly. I am glad I am at the point where he goes into the city to find Julie... although, I find it a little hard to believe he just got by the guards so easily. Security seems like it is pretty lax. I did love the imagery of the other diversion that M and the other zombies did to help him get in the city. (hide spoiler)]

No, I did too.
Honestly, this is another side effect of watching the movie first. I think the attachment I have for the characters is more from loving the movie and not because of character development.

I hope to smash through this book tonight! I hope there's some mindblowing action because it's slowly becoming a bore...

Finished! There was some sort of epicness at the end but not really... (view spoiler)[Somehow all the zombies suddenly want to change.. I guess R was just the catalyst? But this just popped out of nowhere during R's time in the Stadium... I guess the whole book just didn't really make sense to me. There was some great scenes but the overall story was kind of messy in my opinion (hide spoiler)]

I really need to note the page I am on before leaving the book upstairs. I am about 3/5th of the way through the book though. I had hoped to finish the book, but I was too tired to read last night and tonight I need to get to bed because I am doing a run with my neighborhood in the AM. Will finish this tomorrow I think though.

What did you think about the whole philosophical thing that was going on with R and his memories from the people who's brains he had eaten? That was not in the movie... so are the people's spirits still with him since he ate their brains?
You know, I thought there would be more romance to this book... but I am not feeling the romance thing between R and Julie. I am right at the whole makeover scene and I feel like there should be sparks and I am just feeling friendship (which is fine). (hide spoiler)]

Overall, I thought the book was OK. I wish there was more time spent on developing the romance (view spoiler)[ in the end, there were hints of romance, but it felt forced to me. One thing that got on my nerves was excess at the end when his junk started working again. Really? I found it comedic, but not romantic. Another question, so was the idea that Perry's soul was alive in him and that he was turning into a reincarnation of Perry? (hide spoiler)]

sorry. I got super busy at work this week. I haven't had a chance to start it but no will right now. I think we can do like 50 pages a night? I've never read with a buddy before so idk exactly how this works but if we start to go at a faster pace than that then we can change it I guess? lol :)

oh and he I have seen the movie. I love it! one of my favorites :) that's what made me wanna read it.

I will do my best to keep up to 50 pages a day. I'm going to a con this weekend, and I always THINK I'll have time to read at those, but then I never do. So I apologize in advance if I get behind.
