I'll add a few more to thethread:
Lowland by Jhumpa Lahri
The Son by Phillip Meyer
Engagements by J Courtney Sullivan
The Doll by Taylor Stevens
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
Laurie - I know I have a few of those on my loooooong "to read" list. Love the validation that they are good :)
JeriAlso really enjoyed the Signature of All things by Elizabeth Gilbert and Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan. It so hard to pick just five
The last 3 books I read were The Fault in Our Stars, Eleanor & Park and The Goldfinch. Loved them all but The Fault in our Stars was my favorite!
Signature of All Things and Eleanor & Park are on my to read list. I loved the first 2/3 of The Goldfinch - the last 1/3 not as much, so it didn't make it to my favorites...
Jeri wrote: "Signature of All Things and Eleanor & Park are on my to read list. I loved the first 2/3 of The Goldfinch - the last 1/3 not as much, so it didn't make it to my favorites..."That's exactly how I felt Jeri. Ended up skipping a bunch of pages at the end.
My favorites were...Just One Day by Gayle Forman
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare(the whole series was great)
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Easy by Tammara Webber
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Winger by Andrew Smith
Wonder by RJ Palacio
It's funny that they are all YA. I am a 31 yo mother of 3 children, but I have found that there is some excellent literature in the YA section. I'm a huge fan.
My top 5 were:5. The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
4. Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg
3. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
2. Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor
1. Graceling by Kristin Cashore
"Eleanor and Park" just moved up on my to-read list to next! I just started reading YA again a few years ago, when the first rumbling of a Hunger Games movie started. I have read quite a few since then, my favorite favorite favorite being "The Book Thief"...
