Willa jiggled open the door, still not use to having a door that was her responsibility to keep locked. She had just returned from the dinning room and dinner, happy she had more freedom here, no one waiting to yell at her that she had been gone for hours. She missed her old home a bit, the farm house, with all its rooms and niches, the rolling hills, seemingly flat until they lifted up into the sky at an amazing rate and every creek and hollow she use to haunt, hiding out from everyone, just wanting to be alone. Most of all she missed the trees, they were different here and she would have to get to know them, but would she have time?

As she moved further into her room brushing by the stuff she had dumped earlier, she picked up the scheduled they had given her today. It was more rigorous then the home school schedule her aunts had kept for her and her cousins. Would she be able to keep up, what happened when she failed? How were the classes about powers going to work out?

She sighed and examined her surroundings, it was more extravagant then anything she had ever seen. Everything was bright with whites and greens that would fill up with morning light. While it was mostly bare with a few decorations there was a couch and TV area, desk and bed with sheets and a bathroom bare, but stocked with the essentials. She could see it with a few personal items added it could be home but it was more room than she ever had before, coming from sharing with two other teenage cousins. How much was this costing and who was paying for it? Gramma hadn't told her any more then when she was leaving so she never got the chance to ask.

She found a comfortable spot on the couch and reflected on her day. She had seen more people than ever all at once, even got to meet a few. She hoped there would be more, it was nice meeting someone who you haven't known since infancy or hasn't known you since yours and who all think and talk all the same. Variety is important, in people as well as life. Not all the leaves on the forest floor are from one tree. She played with her pendant, changing its shade of green, while she stared at the walls considered her new fate.

Willa was sprawled out on the floor in front of her door. She just could not get the handle on this key thing. She had dropped the large stack of books she had gathered from the library just now.
She let out a cry of despair that she could not seem to manage doing only this much. Frustration came back to the forefront as she swung the door open but still had to collect the three dozen books or so.

Roni knocks on the dorm sure that this is where the noise had come from," Excuse me? Are you alright in there?" she asks her face concerned.

Alex picks the lock. With a grunt, she kicks open the door. "What 'n th' good lord's name is goin' on here?"

Willa looked up, surprised to have drawn attention. "I am so sorry did I disturb you both?" looking around her noting the new mess she tried to explain, "I dropped all my new library books, I hit my elbow on the table there and then just went flat on my face." Willa rubbed her arm while holding in close. She had gotten a few books back onto the table but she was still kneeling on the floor when they came bursting in.

"Oh you poor thing!" Roni says helping her gather the books," Are you alright?" she looks her over. She could have sworn she'd seen this girl before but she couldn't place her name.

Alex leans against the doorway. She keeps to the shadows. She's never been one to talk, and she won't start now.

"Yes, I am okay." Prodding a few more bruised spots she finds more damage than she thought but nothing severe. "I wasn't able to catch myself falling, I was worried about the books but they got dumped anyway." She frowns "I really hope they are okay, I don't want to give them back damaged."

Rushing to inspect a few more, she remembers she hasn't met these people yet. "I'm Willa, thank you for your concern, I hope I'm not keeping you from anything."

Roni smiles all her previous shyness forgotten as she wanted to help the girl best she could," Oh you haven't disturbed anything." she says looking at the books," And I wouldn't worry too much about the books too much. They're only books after all." She suddenly remembers she hasn't introduced herself," Oh I'm Roni and that's Alex." she says noticing Alex is rather quiet .

Alex nods as she un-caps her jar. The water snakes out. It makes her smile.

"Um... well hello." She finishes the book stacking on the coffee table with Roni's help. "And they really arn't just books. They are great resources, knowledge, entertainment. A book can mean a lot to someone and these books are used by everyone here I would hate to ruin one, so no one could read its pages again!" Glancing around the room she remembered this was her space and she didn't know them that well? What should she do, ask them to sit down? She at least had a couch but all her stuff was still piled into the corner. "Would you like a seat, I just got my dorm today so I don't have much, but your welcome to stay."

Roni smiles at the invitation and glances up at Alex. She felt that messing around with her water helped her when she was feeling anxious. She uses her telepathy to remove a few things from the couch setting them on a table. She thinks about Willa's answer and smile, "I'd be happy to help you get things set up then." she says with a grin," Would you mind Alex?"

Alex shrugs. "Act'lly I think I'll head on up to th' library," She caps her water.

Sitting down on the couch she had started sorting the books back, fiction, elemental stuff, and science. At Alex's declaration Willa watched her go, open mouthed. "Was she playing with water?" It was still a shock to her seeing all these people using their powers normally.

Roni nods," Yes she can control water. I don't remember the long name for it. I never can there are far too many." She waves a goodbye to Alex a bit disappointed she's leaving. "What's your ability?" Roni asks casually as she looked around the room. She felt a bit out of place helping her organize when she hardly knew her and didn't want to go through her things.

"Leaves! I can move them and stuff, someone said its phytokinesis. I love that people always make up words for stuff. It sounds silly but it makes me feel better. I use to memorize the names of all the trees at home from a field guide." She got up to start stacking the books on the shelf, she would be through these in a week, maybe two, if they gave her a lot to read for classes.

"That's cool!" Roni says," I can move things too." she says smiling," But I bet you're better at it." she looks around the room," You certainly like to read." she comments.

Willa smiles, "Actually I am quite bad at it. Leaves only listen when they feel like it. That is why I love books; lots of leaves but they don't follow me around and bother me like tree leaves do. Wow, that sounds really weird when I say it out loud." She pauses then shrugs, "What can you move?"

"I can move almost anything I suppose. I have telekinesis." she says with a grin," But I'm still learning." She giggles a little thinking about leaves following after her," Having a bunch of leaves follow after me would be a bit annoying after a while."

"Cool! Wow, it would be awesome to move anything. Leaves have a mind of their own really. Like they retain the memory of being on a tree and reaching for the sun, so controlling them sounds great until they decide they like you." She flops back onto the couch, unable to stay still, she fidgeted a bit "How long have you been here?"

"Only a year." Roni says occupying herself with rearranging some things on her table and hopes that she doesn't mind. "I love your dorm- mine is always a total mess. I'm pretty used to cleaning things up." she says with a grin.

"Yea it is really bright and sunny. I didn't know they would give you so much. You see those dorms for collages and they are just sparse. It is a good thing because I don't have much in the way of stuff or money to get stuff. Was this left over from someone else? Makes you wonder"

She remembers the other girl "Is your friend okay? She looked a little nervous? To go back out in this storm, I made it through the open with the books before the storm hit."

"She'll be alright." Roni assures the girl,"I thinks she just got a bit shy." she says and smiles kindly. "Not sure why though- you seem nice to me."

"Aww, thank you. You are very nice to come check on me. Sorry again to make such a racket. Were you two nearby?"

"Yes, Alex's dorm is just a few rooms down." Roni explains with a smile and adjusts a few things on a shelf.

"Oh so she is a neighbor? I haven't meet to many people in the hallways, I was wondering if I would have any." She opens up her bag and starts sorting her clothing into some drawers putting everything she owns away. It wasn't much. "What should we do now? If I knew what to expect from classes I'd probably be preparing, but it looks like I am free for the evening."

"Well we could always explore around." Roni suggests, Have you been able to look around the school very much? It's a big place." she says noting that she didn't have many belongings.

"I have already seen a lot. I was in town most of the morning after registering. Then, I wondered to the library, found a few things on the way, even got a map so I have a good idea. Wish this storm would pass so I can see more of the garden and forest areas around the campus."

"You and I both." Roni agrees with a sigh. She looks around the room," We could go find Alex." she suggests.

"Okay, that sounds great and I can ask the librarian there what the penalty is for damaging a book! I have already been there twice today they are going to think I'm crazy"

Roni laughs," At least they'll know you by name before the school year even starts!" she smiles,"Are you always this prepared?" she asks as she stands in the doorway waiting for her.

Willa jumps up taking one of the books that seems to have suffered the most. "I donno, the family ran home school for all of us so between that and being by myself when I could, I always just try to stay busy and so I schedule myself kinda well." She moves over to the door, remembering at the last minute the key thing... picks them up at the table and heads out with Roni to whatever adventure awaits next.
