I recently read The White Queen and loved it. I forgot how much I love historical fiction!

I'm hoping to read more of her books, although I'm not sure about the Tudor series, I much prefer the period of The Cousins War series.

What do you think of her books?

Roseanne | 1239 comments The White Queen is on my tbr list. I have not read anything by this author before.

message 3: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments I have read part of the Tudor series but I wasn't that much of a fan. I've heard great things about the White Queen and have included it in my books to read this year. When reading historical authors, I have always enjoyed Margaret George. Her Cleopatra work was very enjoyable and gave some new perspectives on her life.

Tracey | 916 comments I told myself I wouldn't order the rest of the Cousins War series until I've finished all of the books on my bookshelf. 2/8 done on that, and I keep getting library books in between. I've heard The Other Boleyn Girl is supposed to be even better.

I've heard great things about The Other Boleyn Girl too, I just think I will like The Cousin's War era better. I'll definitely try it out, I'm just wary of the time period in which it is set.

Vivien Tabone | 6 comments I have read books from the Tudors and Cousins at War and I have enjoyed them all. I think Philippa Gregory is one of the best popular historical fiction writers.

I'm really tempted to read The Other Boleyn Girl. Has anyone read both that and the White Queen? I'm just not sure if I'll like the era it's set in.

message 8: by Misty (new)

Misty | 8 comments I have read The Constant Princess and I am almost finished with The Other Boleyn Girl (Tudors series). I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, but I am really enjoying The Other Boleyn Girl. I want to finish the series before I move on to the Cousins at War. I have heard that the Cousins series is better, but everyone's tastes are different.

C'eleste (stars_screaming) | 7 comments I am a big PG fan. I have read all of her published books.

I like the Cousins' War era better because there are many interpretations to the same events. I just finished her non fiction The Women of the Cousins' War The Duchess, the Queen, and the King's Mother by Philippa Gregory .

Susan (suzybop) | 90 comments I remember reading The Other Boleyn Girl years ago and being so intrigued by the era I started to pick up non-fiction titles to do with the Tudors. I read The Queens Fool and The Virgins Lover but Other Boleyn was by far the best of the three. I've since enjoyed fiction from CJ Sansom and Hilary Mantel who are both excellent story tellers.

I really enjoyed the other boleyn girl. I also really enjoyed the wideacre trilogy. Very twisted and quite dark in places, but good. I just read the first in her YA series too Changeling, worth a read I think ill read the second one.

Tracey | 916 comments I'm currently reading The Red Queen, the 2nd book in the Cousins war series, and I must say, I enjoy it more than I did The White Queen. It's a bit slower paced and more focused on the character personality.

I've only read The White Queen by her; and really enjoyed it. Another common starter is The Other Boleyn Girl.

Personally, I really love the time period of The White Queen. I'd definitely recommend it.

message 14: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments I've also only read the White Queen series.

I got The Red Queen out the library, so excited to read that this month!

Roseanne | 1239 comments Does anybody know if it makes any difference if these books are read out of order?

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 221 comments I have also added The Other Boleyn Girl and the Cousins War series to my TBR this year.. Glad to know that there are so many good reviews about it.. This will be my first foray into Phillipa Gregory.. :) :) And this certainly boosts my enthusiasm.. Will let you all know how I feel :)

It really doesn't make much difference in the Cousins War Series. I might still recommend the White Queen first just because her story first is a helpful reference point for the others, but they're not reliant on each other to tell the story. I havent read the other yet.

Good to know. I have been listening to an audio of The Red Queen. They didn't have The White Queen on audio at the library. I am really enjoying it.

message 20: by Cassie (new)

Cassie Helwig | 18 comments I enjoyed the Constant Princess and The Other Boleyn Girl gut disliked the Queen's Fool so much that I stopped reading it. I didn't read anything in the series after that.

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Bramlett I have only read The Other Boleyn Girl by her so far but I LOVED it! I am also just really fascinated with the Tudors for reasons I can't explain. When I'm in a bookstore and I see a book about them I have to get it. And I loved how accurate Phillipa Gregory was with it. I looked up all the events and while some affairs can't ever be proven they were real rumors that were believed to have happened. She didn't just make up who supposedly slept with who to fit her story she went off actual reported rumors.

Ellie Billings | 24 comments I love PG.
I find her work so interesting and easy to read.

Roseanne | 1239 comments Is anyone watching The Spanish Princess on Starz? I would like to read the book it is based on and I am not positive which it is.
