2)I'm sure Echo's dad didn't want anything to be put in the papers, not only because he was a bit of a control freak, but also because to protect Echo. I felt that their school/community would have put it together if it was in the paper of who it is, and they usually try to protect minors from such things (exceptions are usually if someone dies. Plus being in a city, stuff like that happens so frequently that not all of it makes the news.
3)I think because of the incident, they knew Echo would be traumatized by the event, so Child Protective Services got involved to ensure that she got the therapy that she needed. Since her dad complied with all that they had been asking for Echo to do, then they probably weren't heavily involved int he case.
4)Echo would have never fully recovered if she didn't remember what happened. Her mind just blocked out what happened to her. She had a lot of misplaced feelings, that she couldn't really deal with until she remembered. She was overly upset with her step mother, but probably didn't know exactly why until she remembered that her dad was with her that night and that is why he hadn't come for her sooner. Plus. she had a strong need to be with her mother, but without remembering what happened she wouldn't of had closure enough for her to move on with her own life. She could have never moved on with Noah because she hadn't dealt with the issues of her past. I don't think she actually remembers having something slipped in her drink. She just put it together when she remembered that her mom had the empty prescription and that she started feeling funny and that is why she fell into the stain glass window.

1. Why wasn't Echo's mom arrested for attempted murder? Being mentally ill doesn't protect you from the criminal justice system...There should have been a trial or a plea bargain. She shouldn't have been free to walk around. The state can prosecute such as case even if the victims choose not to get involved. There would have been enough physical evidence that her testimony wouldn't have been necessary for a prosecution. The restraining order shouldn't have been allowed to expire when she was 18...She was a crime victim, and the perpetrator was walking around loose.
2. Given the sensationality of the crime, why didn't this make the papers?
3. How did child protective services get involved with Echo's dad? If so, why wouldn't they have empowered her to make more choices in her life (like taking art classes)? Given the fact she was a senior and almost 18, she surely would have had more say so.
4. Don't understand why Echo had to remember what happened to her...you don't remember having something slipped in your drink...You have to be told that was done to you.
