That is a wonderful question. What is your opinion?

It being the mystery book group, I'd suggest that the list include mysteries, thrillers, spy stories, that sort of thing.. But, I'm easy... :)
Dipanjan wrote: "Autumn - Can I request a "STRICTLY NO ROMANCE" clause?"Ahahahaha, yes you may! This will be for mysteries, thrillers, spy stories, etc. NO ROMANCE allowed! ;)
@ Autumn - Phew. Had a cyanide pill ready to be popped if Romance had a chance of trickling in. You saved a life!!
I finished reading The Lock Artist by Steve Hamilton not too long ago. Granted, it has a love story in it, I don't think it's the kind you guys are thinking of, where they're all lovey-dovey and what-not. But anyways...It's a great book and is at the top of my list so far in not only best thriller/suspense of 2014 but I think it might be in my top 10 books of all time. I highly recommend it.
@ Kaci - This is the "kind" we were referring to. My review is self explanatory. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I'm pleased overall with the mysteries I've read this year, no five star reads yet, but many strong and new authors so far.
I've adjusted my list, adding Disordered Minds by Minette Walters in the Number 1 position and dropping off my previous Number 10.

That's when it starts getting tough for me, Bill. Now that I have my top ten, I have to take one off to add another. I just did that with NYPD Red 2, which I loved.

Kathryn - I do have to read more of James Patterson's books. I've got a few on my book shelf to read..

I'm a big fan. I know that there are people who don't like his co-authored stuff but I do like most of it. I think the NYPD Red series has become my second favorite by Patterson right after the Alex Cross series.

The first 4 on that list are some of the best books and original story telling I've ever read. I read NOS4A2 months ago and I still recall moments from that book just randomly when I'm reading other stuff. I would also include "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline on that list but I read it in 2013 :(
1. 1999 - Morgan Llewelyn2. High Plains Tango - Robert James Waller
3. The Ocean at the End of the Lane - Neil Gaiman

I've put it on my list.
Adjusted my list. Just finished Dead Simple by Peter James, which definitely deserved to be in my Top 10 mysteries of 2014. Excellent, surprising mystery. Highly recommend you take a chance on Inspector Grace. I'll be reading more of the series.
Added Ian Rankin's The Falls to my list, a definitel 5 star read. A more mature, well-crafted story and one of my favourite Rebus mysteries. Loved it.
