Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Time again for nominations! You all should know the rules by now:

Use links so we can read the book description.
All nominations require seconds. You can nominate and second as many books as you like.

Authors may NOT nominate their own books.

Books must be available in a variety of formats.

Have at it! Happy New Year everyone!

Nominations will close when we have 10-12 books.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments I think that looks interesting. I think I'll pick it up 9as soon as I can fit it in) and go ahead and read it.

Thus I won't nominate anything for now. Thanks Mark.

I second it.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments ...I'm sorry, I meant to second it earlier. Oops....second Miserere: An Autumn Tale even though it's already been seconded....

message 8: by Chris (new)

Chris Jarvis (thelesuit) Red Country, another excellent book by Joe Abercrombie.

CJ

message 9: by Zeynep (new)

Zeynep (zatay) I am going to nominate a book, but I don't know if it's been nominated before. I looked though the books that are on the shelf and it's not there, so here goes:

Lord Foul's Bane by Stephen R. Donaldson

It's a different and interesting book with an anti-hero. I just scanned the reviews here and was surprised to see such negative ones, people have just stopped reading at an early point without giving the book a chance. I found this book to be worth reading (many years ago), it's a trilogy I haven't forgotten unlike many other fantasy trilogies.

message 10: by Doug (new)

Doug (caesaraugustus) I nominate Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson . I'm halfway through, and really liking it.

Fifth, I have been meaning to read it for some time, just needed a good excuse to move it to the top of my TBR.

"So many books, so little time"

Forgot to mention no YA books (judged so by the Goodreads shelving system). The second shelf is YA for this book.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments Oh...okay I know/know Blood Song is a fantastic book.

On the other hand myself I "intensely dislike" the Thomas Covenant books. To each their own, enjoy.

Leon Bey Submitting "The blade itself" and "prince of thorns"

message 23: by Olivier (new)

Olivier Delaye I'd like to submit Railsea by China Mieville. It's an amazing little book--well, more like a novella. Check out my review of it here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I don't know if this book even has a a chance of winning since so many people hate the character of Thomas Convent so much.

message 28: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Xu (kxu65) | 530 comments I'll nominate Shaman's Crossing, which I know has probably Hobb's most hated book as if one hates this book, they will not read the next two books, which are worse.

We changed the rule about YA a while back. The group used to read it, but we held a vote and not reading it won.

Is it a satire? Oblivion and Fogg guard the British Empire? That's pretty witty.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments I like it to Samia and tried to second it...forgetting we'd already read it. You probably have the same problem I do, multiple groups and you can't always remember what's been read where. LOL.

Paul Kevin wrote:

Which is a shame, because the series is pretty good, and Covenant grows a lot as a character over the ten books. He's actually kind of likable by the end.
Imajica by Clive Barker
As for nominations, I see that the group hasn't read any Barker. How about Imajica?
