Does anyone flip to the last page of the book and read the last sentence, or even read ahead while in the middle of a book? I know quite a few people who do this with nearly every book they read to see if it has a happy ending or a sad ending.I've honestly never been able to do this myself. I hate knowing the ending of a book before I've even started to read it yet.

I did it once, I read the last page but it really didn't affect me until almost the last 50 pages on the book when something I read started to make sense. At that moment I didn't want to read more because I didn't want that bad thing to happen. After that, I have never done it again. I just suppress the feeling and keep reading in order

I agree! I never do that. I like to be surprised.

I have read too many books that mislead me as concerns just who the principle characters are. I thus will sometimes read ahead. This seems to vary by genre.

I used to jump ahead to the last ten pages all the time. But then I knew too much and I'd stop reading the book. I missed the joy of being immersed into the story and the twist and turns of the journey. Where is the fun in that? Now I read cover to cover in order.

I like being surprised, so I don't do this. Heck, I hardly even read the synopsis of a book. But I often go to the last page of a book just to see how many pages it is and I sometimes accidentally read the last sentence :(

How I see it, a book is an adventure and if when you spoil the end of the adventure, it was never really an adventure to begin with because you know what happens and no fun is admitted in the adventure. I have never read ahead in my book and I never will. I like a surprise and a very fun adventure.

I read ahead allll the time! I don't really mean to but it's a habit plus I can't help but knowing what happens at the end.

Are there any books that you wish you hadn't read ahead?

Unfortunately I read ahead in Allegiant and if you have read the book you know that that was a mistake.

I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but someone messaged me here on Goodreads and spoiled the ending for me

I have no idea. The user who messaged me knew that I hadn't read the book yet, which made the situation even worse. Reading the spoiler has somewhat dissuaded me from reading the book. As a result, I've been putting off reading it for the past few weeks.

You should still read the book, it was really good (at least in my opinion)

I think I'm going to try and start it tonight. Does the character's death come at the very end of the book, or does it happen sooner? I think that portion of the book is going to be the most difficult for me.

It happens basically at the end.

I read the last sentence or paragraph a lot but it's only right when i start the book so i have no idea what it's talking about and by the time i get to know the characters i've forgotten it.

I used to read the last sentence of the book, but ruined one too many for myself. :/ So now I steer clear of reading ahead.

Some how I think reading the ending first would spoil it for me, especially in something like a mystery where there are a lot of twist and turns. If I know everything there is to know about the book before I even began it, then why should I even read it in the first place?
