Alright, I have to ask...
What did everyone think of the Minotaur? LOL

Any predictions for the season? The show isn't staying completely true to the series, so anything could happen!

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 37 comments We're on episode 2 of season one over here in Ireland and UK. There's a minotaur??

LOL Yep. The first episode of season 2. BTW Season 2 is even more graphic than season 1! So don't watch it with a parent or something...

LOL When I saw episode 1 of season 1, I didn't know that it would be so graphic. I took the episode over to my fathers house to watch it with him. Boy did I regret that! LOL My Dad turned to me and said "What the heck did you bring?" LOL I was so embarrassed, because True Blood is def. NOT something to watch with your Dad. I still love the series, but boy was I embarrassed!

message 5: by new_user (new)

new_user LOL. I've been there, Joy. I watched the pilot of ROME with my brother and his wife, not expecting it to have so many scenes. A little uncomfortable. LOL.

LOL It taught me to look at peoples reviews for shows BEFORE watching them with my Dad.

message 7: by Karyn (new)

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 37 comments My dad doesn't really watch tv. The most I've watched with him is showjumping, eventing or a documentary on tractors and dairy farming (once a dairy farmer always a dairy farmer). Although my little brother, who still lives with the parents, was watching ep 1 and our mother walked in. He tried to change over as quickly as he could but it wasn't really fast enough. He still goes all red when anyone mentions it.

message 8: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
LOL I can relate! I'm sure it embarrassed your mom too.
At first, my Dad was offended, but now he just thinks that the situation was amusing.

message 9: by Teryl (new)

Teryl So that's what Maryanne is? I had no idea. I want to know how Daphne survived her attack, maybe because she is a shifter?

message 10: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments Woot! My fiance gave it to me today for my birthday! I've never seen the series so I'm about to go watch the first episode!

message 11: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
Beware, it is VERY graphic. LOL Great show, but if you have a problem with blood, sex, and drugs...you probably won't like it.

message 12: by Mawgojzeta (new)

Mawgojzeta I described the series to a friend as "Buffy meets porn".

Really love the show - totally guilty pleasure thing- haven't read the books but plan to once the series has finally ended.

message 13: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments Yeah, blood, sex and drugs is a frequent part of my life. No worries there. We watched the first 2 episodes last night. Good stuff!

Has anyone watched the latest episodes? I felt so bad for Sam and Andy!

message 15: by Anne (new)

Anne I'm so mad at myself! I made this BIG speach to my husband about how we didn't need to have HBO when we moved! Now I'm stuck waiting for season 2 to come out on DVD. Me and my big mouth!

message 16: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments I don't have HBO either because I didn't want to pay for it. So I'll be waiting with you for the next season!

message 17: by Anne (new)

Anne Kristina wrote: "I don't have HBO either because I didn't want to pay for it. So I'll be waiting with you for the next season! "

Good to know I'm not the only one. This is not the first time being cheap has come back to bite me in the butt!

message 18: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments My schedule rotates so I don't watch t.v. on a regular basis so I don't mind so much. But occassionaly there is a series on HBO or Showtime that I really want to watch and then I suffer. So thank goodness for DVDs. I have to catch up on The Tudors, too!

message 19: by Anne (new)

Anne True. I usually can't watch anything I want anyway. Somehow one of my kiddies manages to take over the tv. When I was watching last season on DVD, I had to threaten them with their lives if they got out of bed, so they wouldn't pop their heads in to see what was going on. Even then, I had to have the remote in my hand at all times...just to be safe. I swear, I feel like I did when I was a teenager trying to sneak stuff past my parents.

message 20: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments Hahaha! Thank goodness I don't have kids! I'm not too worried about the dog walking in at the wrong moment! You'll have to attach tripwire with bells in their doorways so you know when they get up. ;o)

message 21: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 452 comments I hate the Maryanne storyline! It needs to be done now. I don't mind that is straying from the books. I am still one episode behind so I am going to try to catch up tonight when the kids go to bed. I don't have HBO so I watch it online at http://www.surfthechannel.com/. I have to wait until the kids are in bed because of all the sex in the show.

message 22: by Anne (new)

Anne Kristina wrote: "Hahaha! Thank goodness I don't have kids! I'm not too worried about the dog walking in at the wrong moment! You'll have to attach tripwire with bells in their doorways so you know when they get up..."

Ahhhhh. I remember the days when I could watch whatever I wanted. Good times, good times...
My nine year old will actually crawl commando-style into our room on his belly! I like your idea of a tripwire. Might just use it!

Oooooh! Thanks for the link Jackie! You can actually watch season 2 on it???

message 23: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 452 comments Yep Anne it has season 2.

message 24: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments I tried that website earlier today and when I clicked on one of the links that fake anti-virus thing popped up that actually infects your computer (I had it once before!). Luckily, I stopped it before it did any harm. So don't know if anyone else has had trouble on that site before but I'll be avoiding it from now on.

message 25: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 452 comments Oh sorry to hear that Kristina. I used that site last season too and have not had any problems.

message 26: by Anne (new)

Anne I tried going to the site and my spyware went crazy. I shut my computer off right away. I had the same problem Kristina had with the fake anti-virus about six months ago, so I knew not to touch anything. BEWARE! That virus is really hard to get rid of.

message 27: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments Yeah, that sucks. Guess we'll still be waiting for the DVDs! Oh well. It's better than having that virus. Glad you got your computer shut off before anything happened.

message 28: by Anne (new)

Anne I was so bummed! Oh well, it's like you said, at least I don't have a virus. Glad nothing happened to your computer, either, Kristina.
You seem to be having all the luck with the site Jackie! I'm jealous!

You guys might be able to find it on a different site... I think you might be able to watch the episodes on HBO's website, but I am not sure. I tried to go on there, but my internet is REALLY slow right now...

If you have a Twitter account, all the "folks" from Bon Temps are tweeting about what's happening. Poor Sookie has been stuck in that basement all week!

Some twitter usernames to look for:

message 31: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments So the other night we watched the episode that first shows Eric. I must say I'm disappointed. Reading the books, I always get the impression that Eric just exudes masculinity and is an imposing figure. From what I've seen so far, yeah... he just did not strike me the big bad scary Eric in the story.

message 32: by new_user (last edited Aug 23, 2009 12:34AM) (new)

new_user He has a much bigger role in season 2 (esp. episode 9!), Kristina, but then again, I haven't read the books, so I can't compare. He's pretty fierce, and he really does tower over everyone on the show. You can't blame a guy for being lean. His physique is flawless, LOL. I think it would've taken away from his character if he really was a big hulking brute. xD

message 33: by new_user (new)

new_user Looks like the show's finally headed in an interesting direction with Eric. Sookie (and now Eggs and Tara) still annoys me. And I feel bad for all the other characters. LOL.

Is anyone else sick of the MaryAnn storyline?

message 35: by new_user (last edited Aug 23, 2009 01:14AM) (new)

new_user Very. LOL. It's kind of B-movie, to be honest, with a whole town going stir-crazy, etc. Not to mention, it's been done before.

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
I think that they have been overdoing it. I want them to move on to a new storyline already. LOL

BTW The other day I watched the 1st episode of season one again...There was a woman who was watching the attack on Bill when sookie saves him...She was standing in the woods, and runs off. Does anyone know who she is? Its bugging me! LOL

Yeah, how many orgies can there be. Seriously. LOL. No idea about the woman. Maybe it's Maryann, LOL.

Hmmm...I thought about that, but she used powers to help save Bills. When Sookie throws the chain the woman does something, which causes the chain to wrap around the guys neck...So I don't think that it is MaryAnn...(sigh) Maybe they'll tell us this season.

LOL I think that they figure "sex sells", which is why there are so many orgies. Seriously, though...I'm sick of them. LOL I want something new! I really liked the latest episode though...:)

message 39: by new_user (new)

new_user Me too, me too. Real stuff happens. Like captures and bombs and stuff. Cool. LOL. Also, now I can like Eric now that I know he's not just a soulless torture (the heck was that?)

message 40: by Mawgojzeta (last edited Aug 24, 2009 07:13AM) (new)

Mawgojzeta I think the orgies and what-not will be coming to an end at this season's end (or be the cliff-hanger and end at the beginning of the next season). I think MaryAnn will be moving on.

message 41: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Huxford (blackpanthershay) | 27 comments Marianne is a pain in the butt!!!! Begone with her!!

Lafayette and Eric are my favourite characters, I can have tea and scones with them anytime :)

I have to keep reminding myself that the show is very diff from the books.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd say that Maryann only has two more episodes left. Last night's episode is definitely one of my favorites. Jason was hysterical!

message 43: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments Well thank goodness I called verizon to yell at them for messing up our bill. They gove us 3 months of free HBO. So when I finish the season one dvd's I can catch up on season 2!

I still need to watch Sundays episode...(sigh) I'm glad to hear that its going to be funny. Now if only my hubby would make up so that I can watch it. LOL

Jackie M | 452 comments I hate to say this but I am kinda glad that this season is almost over. I just got done watching episode 11 and it was horrible. I didn't like the queen at all. The only good thing about this episode was Jason cracking me up. I really hope the finale is much better.
It usually doesn't bother me that the show has strayed from the books but for some reason it bothered me this week.

Okay...What was with the egg/nest in the episode? Sooo...weird?

message 47: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments I just watched the Minotaur episode last night. My fiancé said he's enjoyed the show so far but it seems so stupid that this little town had nothing and then all these supernatural creatures are all over the place. And it is kind of funny. But whatever. I enjoy it overall bit Anna paquin annoys me. She annoyed me in x-men so I was disappointed when I found out she was playing Sookie.

message 48: by new_user (new)

new_user Yeah, she annoys me too.

message 49: by Gapeach (new)

Gapeach | 4 comments I love the show! Can't wait for the season finale tonight. The egg really threw me too. I agree Anna Paquin can be annoying. It aggravates me how much she cocks her head.

I didn't think that the finale was nearly as good as it could have been...I was a little disappointed. :(
