I'm just going to say it, I think Jackson is an idiot. He is always forgetting about Olivia and she is sad then at the last moment (like in Transylvania) he pops out of nowhere and she forgives him. What do you guys think?
I guess but he just annoys me so much. I haven't read the series in ages so I can't point you to specific parts but when/if we re-read them all together we can have a much more in depth discussion. In the first book he is in (excuse my rubbish knowledge of book titles!) I didn't mind him as much but as he progressed AHHHH.
Ok, he is annoying the way he completely ignored Olivia (in TWO books) then just showed up at the last minute and expected Olivia to forget everything he put her through. Brendan would never do that to Ivy.
I may be overreacting which is why we should read them all again. (am I obsessing over that now?) :)
but jackson does have a pretty busy schedulebut in love bites, jackson said hes staying with olivia which means that he might not be as busy (i havent read the books after love bites yet)
Oh, well it's the books after love bites where he starts to get annoying, but that's bit later. He's nice in the next few books.
In secrets and spies when olivia is video calling jackson he talks backwards and his super fan falls for it (because he's pretenting to be a pre-recorded message) . He really must be a great actor! Trust me, I tried to talk backwards after I read that part :)
Hey, I just had a thought. We've never met Jackson's parents yet have we? I think they were vaguely mentioned once when Jackson said they'd agreed Franklin Grove would be a nice place to live, but we've never actually met them. I think it would be really interesting if we met them at some point. Although, I think it might be a bit late for Sienna Mercer to introduce them in since Jackson's already been in so many of the books without them. What do you guys think???
Its not too late. I think it would be cool!! I hope his dads not cool but he thinks he is with leather jacket and sunglasses and stuff!!!

I am reading Romeo and Juliet at the moment but because of the adaption they did of it in Star Style (MSTV #8), I can't stop picturing Mercutio as Jackson! The other characters are easier to imagine not being characters in MSTV, not really sure why! Maybe Jackson's just a better actor or something. Although it is quite funny to imagine Charlotte Brown as the Nurse!
Well, she's not what you call grumpy but she's not especially positive either. I guess she's similar to Charlotte but not that much. :D
Hey guys, I was wondering the other day about how old Jackson is. It never actually says in the books what his age is, so I always assumed he was 13 like Olivia and Ivy and everyone. But actually the way he's portrayed I think he may actually be a bit older. They always talk about how he has to 'keep his career moving' and stuff, and that doesn't strike me as the sort of thing a 13 year old would need to do.When he's acting he does always seem to play mature roles, and in all we've seen in the books, he plays romantic characters which are involved in a love story. People always say people look younger on TV or in movies, so if Jackson was 13 he'd look 11 or something and can I just say I find that sort of weird what with all his obsessive fangirls.
I know all the characters in MSTV sometimes come across as a little mature for their age, but I think Jackson is especially grown-up. He knows how to deal with his fans and the directors and his agent and everyone.
Another thing is when you consider in The Groves he was acting opposite Jessica Phelps, who played his love interest in the movies, and I imagine her to be 15 or 16 at the very least. It would be a little strange to think he was 13 at that point.
So considering all this, I would guess that Jackson is actually 16 or something. It doesn't seem that outside Olivia's character to date an older boy and I've always thought he does seem more experienced in things like relationships and things than the other characters. Do you guys think it's possible that Olivia wasn't his first girlfriend? What age would you guess he is?
P.S. Sorry this turned as more of an essay than a comment!
This is really interesting. I know the series is aimed at younger kids but it would be so much simpler if everyone was just a couple of years older! They all act so mature. I always imagine Jackson to be 14,15 at the least and Jessica to be 17 or 18 but then again I probably imagine everyone slightly older than they really are.I doubt that Olivia was his first girlfriend. The fact that he's a international heart throb and how relaxed he was around girls makes me think he's dated other girls before her.
Doesn't at some point Jackson goes to the same school as Olivia and Ivy? And it's a middle school, right? So he must be either 13 or 14, maybe 15I never really thought about his age
Oh good point Emi. He does go to the same school as them when he moves to Franklin Grove. I'm from England so I don't really understand grades and middle school. I don't think it ever mentions if he's in the same year as Ivy and Olivia but maybe it does. Does he take any of the same classes as them?
Oh, yeah, I didn't think of that Emi. I'm pretty sure he was in the same year as them so from that I might guess he's their age but, then again he might just have been older but had taken the classes in their year because he had trouble with the older pupil's classes, or maybe just because he wanted to be with Olivia. In answer to your question Sophie, Jennifer and I actually had a huge debate about this through Goodreads messaging and I'm pretty sure American grades are the same as British years. For instance, if you were in year 8 you'd be in eighth grade in America.
I think Middle School is 11 - 13, between primary school and high school. So it's like the first two years of high School here in England are Middle School in America. I might be wrong here so American members, correct me if I'm wrong!
So, if Olivia wasn't his first girlfriend, who do you think he might have dated before? This may sound kind of weird but perhaps him and Jessica dated at some point before he realised what an idiot she was. Just a theory...
Elementary School are grades K-5 which means ages 5-11.Middle School are grades 6-8 which means ages 12-14.
High School are grades 9-12 which means ages 15-18.
(And for the ages, it's the age you turn into while in that grade.)
*Sorry if this is kinda confusing
