Just read
by Alexander McCall Smith. Quite enjoyable. Felt like I was on the train ride.

I must get round to reading this! I do the train journey from Edinburgh (well, just south of Edinburgh) to London regularly. I used to commute to Edinburgh too, and a group of us thought we should write a television series about people like us, but we never managed it. Last year there was a documentary series about that line, though.
Hi Robin. Maeve Binchy's "The Lilac Bus" was very good. I never relished city bus rides but it's no longer an option in our country town. ;) A real train should be very nice. They famously cross Canada but aren't set up for brief commuting.
Read
by Nancy Horan. A novel about the American woman who married Robert Louis Stevenson and their life together.
Finally read
by Muriel Spark. This has been on my list for awhile, so glad I finally got to it. A little gem. Spark often mentions using "a proper Edinburgh accent". Can anyone tell me what that means?
Oh sure, now you'll have members crawling all over each other in a race to answer this for you. Nice technique. ;) If only I got the odd reader for my musings, in a month! Glad you got to a book you've awaited. That describes most of what I own, physically owned entirely. Carolyn.
I recently read
also. It definitely is a gem. Even though Miss Brodie turns out to be an unlikeable protagonist, I loved the book. I am also curious about "a proper Edinburgh accent".
Read
The Franchise Affair by Joesephine Tey.It was wonderful. It has been sitting on a stack of "to read" books for awhile and I finally picked it up. Good writing, delightful dialogue.
