Leslie tied her hair into a loose ponytail, wanting it out of her face. The wind had started to pick up as she got closer to the water. She shivered lightly, and sped up. Anyone watching would have assumed she was fine, but her eyes were a bit too wide and her speed walking steps were uneven. This whole thing made Leslie feel panicked, and it wasn't a good thing for someone who lived in facts and provable data. Sure, she hadn't actually been that bad, to the point where she lived in the library, but Leslie did do well at school where there were multiple choice tests. This wasn't anything like that. This was...Savage. Sure, they'd made a hierarchy of government, and there were unspoken rules that everybody abided(sp) by. However, when was the last time someone purposefully ate meat that hadn't been cooked all the way? Civilization meant more than just knowing who was in charge. For the millionth time that day--and it was still early, bright and sunny-- Leslie wished that this was just a bad dream, she'd wake up and be able to tell her friends about a nightmare that quickly faded from memory.
Curled up by a large tree that provided shade over the lake, Aurora was in deep concentration. Her mothers small journal in hand as she tried to memorize the plants that were found along this side of town. Or well the woods of the town anyways, if it could be a considered a town anymore. More like a forest to be honest. There was a lot of things that could help them but for now she wanted to focus on what they really use at the moment. Liking her lips, she was about to go back to the camp when a crunching caught her attention. Looking up, she saw a girl, looking quite distressed. She was vaguely familiar, she used to see her at times when she went to the library to check out some books.Looking around, there was no one I sight. No one else to help the girl, and she didn't feel comfortable leaving her here like that. "Um excuse me?" She called out as she got up and slowly walked over to her. "Hey, I'm Aurora,"She smiled sweetly at her before doing her best not to fiddle with her fingers. Meeting new people was always hard for her but she was always determined to get through it. "I just couldn't help but to notice that you seemed worried. I don't mean to intrude or anything but I just wanted to see if you were okay." Brushing a lock of hair back, she looked up at her curiously, hoping she wasn't over stepping any kind of boundrary.
Leslie almost jumped out of her skin when Aurora seemed to appear out of nowhere. If she hadn't been so shocked, Leslie probably would have screamed. "Where did you come from?" She asked, almost accusingly. Leslie looked her over, not in a let's-judge-your-brand-name-clothes way, but just noticing the notebook she held and such. "Hey, I'm Lyla." She started walking again, and met the other girl halfway with a timid smile. They shook hands, and then Leslie re-did her ponytail as Aurora also fidgeted. "I'm fine." She said, a slight delay between the question and the answer. It was true that she was fine, but it was also true that she was worried. Everybody seemed to be worried. Or hungry. Both more than likely. Leslie slid her hands into her pockets and stood in front of the other girl feeling awkward. She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Aurora seemed nice, it wasn't her fault Leslie wasn't too thrilled with what was going on at camp.
Aurora blinked, surprised at the reaction she got but she understood. A lot of people were under pressure, kind of like post traumatic stress syndrome, a usual thing for soldiers to get when they come back from war. Getting attacked like that out of no where would scar a lot of people, even the ones who don't show it. Sure some people might like this war but everyone has their own reason. No one has the right to judge anyone, you never know what they went through. People tend to judge others, especially during times like these where there was two sides: yours or their's at least that's how a lot of people saw it. So she have no judgement and wasn't fazed by her reaction to her."I was reading, it's nice out here,"She returned the other girls smile as they started to walk. "Well it's nice to meet you Lyla. So what were you doing out here?" She asked curiously, not pushing the obvious lie. She was here to help not to make anyone tell her anything they don't want too. Aurora, herself was a horrible liar and hated when she was called out on it. Sometimes people told lies for a reason, and sometimes that lie was to protect themselves. But was that advice for herself or for the other girl? Her eyes dimmed at the thought, trying not to think about that. It's over, done, she doesn't have to worry about it anymore.
"Oh." Leslie nodded, glancing at the notebook Aurora was holding again. Yeah, it wasn't exactly a top-seller-book list by John Green, but books weren't things people thought of when they were running. Aurora was lucky to have anything really. Lyla smiled tightly at her new acquaintance. "I just wanted to clear my head. Walking used to help me calm down." When she was in a safe neighborhood, on familiar paths, yeah that had been calming. This on the other hand wasn't quite the same."Are you--" Leslie's words trailed off awkwardly. She had been going to ask if Aurora was the girl who hated public speaking, since that was about all she could remember. But if Aurora didn't like speaking, she would have just stayed put instead of trying to start a conversation. "Do you want some company?" Leslie asked, feeling awkward. It sounded too formal, but at least it was a genuine offer.
Aurora nodded, prying wasn't her thing so she wasn't going to do it. "I see,"She told her softly, smiling at her as she continued. Eventually they both came to a stop and she shook her head. "Company would be nice but I really do have to go,"She smiled softly. "Maybe next time? See you around,"She smiled. Turning she walked up the trial before turning around and waving at her. She was pretty nice maybe next time they could get to know each other better and become friends. War didn't mean they couldn't make friends, right?(Sorry >.< They're both pretty shy so I didn't think it would go anywhere)

There are two docks that go out a good few feet.
