Please post a comment below to nominate a book for us to read for March 2014.

Please use the "add book/author" link just above the comment box in order to add the book title, which will include a link to the Goodreads page for the book.

Don't hesitate to re-nominate something previously suggested. However, we ask that you do not nominate something only published within the last three months, because it may not be available to all of our members yet.

Nominations will be closed on January 23 or when we have about 10 good nominations, whichever comes first.

Shannon (shannon_bohle) The First Space Race: Launching the World's First Satellites - I'm reading it now and it has a great deal of information in it previously unknown around or immediately following the launch of Sputnik. Published by Texas A&M University Press. Thoroughly researched at NASA, Air Force Space Command, Smithsonian, Harvard Center for Astrophysics, and elsewhere. Extensive use of notes, black and white photographs, and a journalistic breezy writing style, make it scholarly yet readable. Great insights into "behind the scenes" activities of the German and Russian military agencies driving the space race.

Maitrey | 7 comments 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created by Charles C. Mann.

I know this group read 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus a few months back, but 1493 can be read as a stand-alone even by first timers.
