Kegan drove slowly through the parking lot, smirking as the irritated drivers behind him began honking obsessively. He slowly rolled down his window, gave them the finger, and suddenly sped up, catching a close parking space before someone else took it. Seniors were supposed to have the closer spots, but they weren't here yet, were they now? Kegan spotted his group of football friends, the jocks, and casually strolled over to them once he had parked. "Yo Jake, pound it number 10," he laughed, exchanging handshakes with the various guys in his posse. The king has arrived. Kegan checked his hair that it wasn't messed up on his phone, before gesturing for the boys to follow him. They were almost seniors, and would soon rule the school.
Lily was tired, she hadn't gotten a good sleep last night. And making out with a guy in her Lamborghini didn't do anything to help. Jared wrapped his arms around her, placing his hands around her face on the back of the seat. All Lily could feel was Jared, and that wasn't exactly what she wanted right now. But, if she was to resurface from the car at this moment, she would probably have some serious make out hair. She could distantly hear other guys talking, but it was hard to make out over the sound of Jared. Her windows were slightly tinted, but she was already getting a little nervous. Before she could tell what was happening, her elbow pushed down on the handle of the car door, opening the door. Then she was on her back, pain coursing through her body, and there was Jared, staring down at her from the seat of her car with his arms outstretched. Could this get any more embarrassing. Lily sat up, brushing some grains of gravel from her arms. It was a bonus, her being dressed in a mini skirt and white lace tank top. Of course it wasn't see-through lace though, just embroidered.
Kegan was setting foot inside the school gates, when suddenly his friend tugged his elbow back. The rest of the group had slowed down, staring at some scene in the parking lot. "What is it?" He demanded, worming his way in front of his friends. Lillian. Kegans jaw dropped, incredulous of her new boy toy choice. Him? Why? Horrified, kegan took a slight step back. On the other hand, though, kegan couldn't help but ogle Lillian's legs, her beauty even more so due to her fresh summer tan. "Daaamn, lil, glad you could make it to school," he snorted, making offensive remarks about her "activities" with the tool in her car. "Let's get out of here," kegan shook his head, secretly having jealousy bubble up inside of him. That wasn't okay, Lillian was his. Even though he broke up with her.
Lily rolled her eyes, attempting not to take his statement to heart, even though it did hurt her deep down. She stood up, looking back at Jared as a gesture for him to get out of her car. After he had stood next to her, she shut the door of her car, then looked back at Kegan. "If you're gonna be a smartass, first you have to be smart. Otherwise you're just an ass." She rolled her eyes, before turning to Jared and standing on her tiptoes, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Bye." Lily whispered, a hint that she wanted him to leave. He did, heading through the school gates with one simple nod at Kegan and his friends. Lily just shook her head at him, then brought her attention back to Kegan. They had to get along, her being the cheer captain and him being a football player, as unfortunate as it was. He didn't even have the right to be jealous, he was the one who broke up with her.
Kegan only laughed, lilians attempt to make him look dumb not really affecting him. "I'd rather be an ass than a toy," he sneered snidely at the passing guy, feeling safe with the presence of his buddies. "How much did he pay you?" He snorted, turning his back on Lillian. He truly did miss her, missed the affection she gave when they were together. He knew his Friends were too thick to understand what he was thinking, so he refused to share his thoughts with anyone. It didn't make sense why he didn't already have some white chic under his arm. Under each arm. Kegan switched focuses, waving his boys to follow him as they joked an hollored at old friends as they passed by, their group slowly growing larger. ((Maybe we could skip to later, and he could confess he wants her back? He's just using her though. For now.))
Lila walked up to the parking lot looking at the high school with nervous eye's. What would the kid's think of her? What if she didn't fit in with them? Maybe they had heard that she'd been kicked out of three different school's. People never liked her. They only pretended, they only acted like they were friends to get into her huge house or to be friends with the rich girl. No one took the time to get to know her, the again... Lila never gave people much of a chance. She didn't know what she wanted. She stood in front of the door, afraid to go in now.
After his make out session with Lily earlier, Jared was on the prowl. He was a player, and he didn't care much about what other people thought of him. He wasn't quite sure who that Junior guy thought he was, but Jared would deal with him later. After all, that guy was only a Junior, Jared was a Senior. They may have both been popular, but seniors ruled. He would have to pull him aside later. Just because he played soccer, it didn't mean he was just as muscular, if not more than that guy. So here he was, skipping class, crouched down at the side of the building. He took notice to a girl, probably coming in late. She was pretty, he had to give her that. She had to be new, otherwise he would have recognized her immediately.
Maybe she could get away with not going in. She could turn around and go back home. Her dad was probably gone now anyway and even if he was home he wouldn't care that she didn't go to school. He would pretend like he cared for a little while but then go back to forgetting she was even there. She bit her bottom lip and sucked in a deep breath. She was going to have to face it sooner or later... But she had a feeling today was not that day. She turned around and walked down some step's gripping the side's of her back pack and letting out a breath that she wasn't aware she was holding in.
Jared licked his lower lip before making the decision to approach the girl. "Come late often?" He asked, arching his eyebrows. If the girl was new, she most likely had no idea she was late. Fancy him running into her. He wasn't usually friendly, but that came along with his attitude, from time to time. A smirk teetered over his features and he stood up, leaning back against the wall of the school. Yes, she had to be new. Jared practically knew everybody, unlike his brother. Lance may have the spotlight, and he wasn't as dark as Jared, but Lance wasn't as popular as his brother.
Lila jumped at the voice, meeting a guy's eye's as he leaned against the school. "Uhh..." She bit her lip. "I... I, woke up late." She said, coming up with the quickest thing that popes in her head. "Do you?" She asked, why was he allowed to question her if he was also late? She wouldn't of been late, she she was allowed to drive her car. Maybe if she was actually here on time, the people surrounding her would have made her go in and she wouldn't be such a wimp and go inside the school. The thought of walking in the class and having everyone stair at her, 'the new girl' scared her.
Jared's smirk deepened, before breaking into his natural charming smile. "No, it's called skipping class babe." He sent her a small wink, brushing off and standing back up on his own feet. She was beautiful, once he really took notice to her. Being a guy, Jared had no choice but to run his gaze lazily up and down her body. Sure, he didn't want to seem like a creep, but he had to admit, she was hot. "Jared. Senior." He felt like being a senior gave him a title, and he pushed away thoughts of Lily and the guy she had been with. "Jared Donovan." He confirmed with a nod of his head, returning his gaze to her alluring eyes.
Lila felt her self smirk, looking at him. Babe She resisted the urge to roll her eye's at him. In stead, she straightened herself up, gaining her confidant attitude again. "Delila Scott. Feel free to call me Lila though." She said, smiling. "And I'm a Junior. New, I just moved her a few week's ago." She confirmed. Taking her time to take his appearance in. He was cute, no one could convince her other wise. He was taller than her... Then again, everyone was taller than her.
"Well, Lila," he drawled, taking a step closer to her and examining every little detail of her facial structure and body. "It is nice to meet you." Jared winked, reaching a hand up to run it though his tousled hair, which for some reason girls always seemed to find attractive. Getting an idea, he formed his features into his most charming smile. "I could help you fit in, if you're interested. I'm popular and a senior, so I could totally help you out, Lila." Again, he put emphasis on her name, but only to greater the effect he had on her. This was a good idea, and hopefully she would be all for it.
"I don't know how helpful a guy who skips school would be." Lila said. But, whenever the guy was in school him being a senior would be handy. He probably could help her out. As long as no one found out about how screwed up her home life is and how she's been kicked out of three different high school in her home town. She had to make this one work. Not for her dad but for her own sake. She needed to stop causing so much trouble so she wouldn't have to keep leaving her friends. And to do that, she had to make more friends than enemies. "Besides, what makes you think I need or want your help?" She asked.
A smirk returned to Jared's face and he took another step closer to her. "Guys who skip school are cool." He cocked his head to the side, looking her in the eyes. Jared wasn't usually a gentleman, but he thought it would be nice if he was one now. "Did I mention it was nice to meet you?" He raised his eyebrows, reaching out a hand as a gesture to complete a handshake. Before they could shake hands, he quickly returned his hand back to his side. "Being new is hard, word spreads around fast. So you'll need someone to help you fit in, and someone to help you not be labeled as the new girl." Hopefully she hadn't taken his offer the wrong way, Jared was just trying to be a nice guy. But the hard part was, he wasn't a nice guy, he was dark and he had his secrets.
"Right." Lila said slowly, dragging out the word and glancing at his hand then back at his face. Usually, Lila would be on board, she'd get him wrapped around her finger like every other guy she had ever talked to. Jared was incredibly cute. But if this guy thought she couldn't handle herself on her own she had to prove him wrong. That's just what she was like, she got her way and proved everyone wrong. She wasn't just some smart girl with straight A's that couldn't handle herself in a high school full of stupid teenagers. "You can't exactly make people like me." She said. "How would you 'help' me?" She asked. She was still willing to have fun with this Jared character.
Jared listened to her words, and then a soft chuckle escaped his lips before he could stop it. "What are you implying, exactly?" He cocked an eyebrow with curiousity, walking closer to her again so there was only a foot of space between them. He was very self confident in this situation, which was unusual for him considering he wasn't a confident kind of guy. Lila had started out afraid and nervous it seemed, and he had been the one to change things around for her. Now they were getting along like old friends. It was a good job on his part, a score. "I'm just saying I could help you fit in." He said finally, hoping he wouldn't have to explain further
"Fit in." Lila repeated under her breath. Maybe it wasn't her intimation to fit in. It was, of course. No matter how bad she wished it wasn't. She hated not having the other 'stupid teenagers' not like her. "Okay fine." She said, finally giving in. "But for your information, I could do this on my own. But since you are just so desperate to help me, I will let you." She told him, smiling. Of course she didn't need his help. Or anyone's help for that matter. She could handle high school. Just not today, she couldn't walk into those doors today. Tomorrow, she told her self.
"Sounds good." Jared said, pleased she had taken him up on his offer. He had better get back to clas though, low grades meant no soccer. And soccer was the one thing that made him happy. "I better get back to class." As unfortunate as it was, his statement was true. "See you around?" He arched his eyebrows once again with question, slowly backing up and through the school gates. He had to go, he could get back to this girl later. Jared wasn't one for long commitments, he was more of the one night stand type. Maybe this girl could be just another one night stand, or not.
Lila nodded at him. "Yeah. See ya around." She said, smiling. She half waved good-bye and then turned around to walk off the school grounds. It just wasn't going to happen today. She could get a good look around Los Angeles maybe. Maybe she could meet even more people! Anything but going into the school or back to her house. Tomorrow she would come and tomorrow she could hang out with Jared. But for now, she needed a drink.
As she drove, Lily did her best to keep her eyes on the road and not on the wonderful scent that was Kegan. When they finally arrived at the school, she pulled into one of the empty senior's parking spaces. They wouldn't mind if she used their spot for once, when they were probably off skipping school anyways. She had stopped at her house briefly, simply to take a shower and get changed into a black and white striped dress, which cut off a little above her knee. Her hair was tied up into a tight bun, and she felt preppy. "Come on." She whispered to Kegan as she pulled her keys out of the ignition. No doubt he was already planning his conversation with Crew.
Still not completely awake, kegan nodded sleepily and got out if her car, toting his bags once again in the parking lot. The gates were closed, with the annoying yard duty standing beside it, and kegan could see her writing up two tardy slips on the dreaded pink paper pad. Kegan took it without a fight, wanting to find a seat and sleep in it as soon as possible. He remembered crews threats as well, and dreaded the upcoming lecture he'd have to give him. Kegan stopped by his locker, exchanging books and notebooks, before turning to lily. He smiled for once, kissing her forehead. "I forgot to say earlier... But you look lovely," he commented, one hand on her waist.
Lily climbed out of her car, shutting the door and locking it with the press of a button. She took the pink tardy slip without an argument, lugging her backpack over her shoulder. She stopped at his locker with him, a smile on her face. "Thank you. You look appetizing today." Lily winked, and a light laugh sounded from deep in her throat. Kegan probably had a lot on his mind, so it would be best for them to go their separate ways. It would be best for her not to see him for the rest of the day, so guilt wouldn't claw at her insides. She would see Cam after school while Kegan was busy dealing with Crew. She walked away from him slowly, heading to her own locker and sorting out her belongings.
Kegan murmured a thanks, before watching her disappear around the corner. Right. He had class to get to, and friends to scold. Kegan made his way to his first period, handing the teacher the pink slip with a fake apologetic excuse, his acting skills coming in handy. He sat in his assigned seat, dropping his bags carelessly with loud thumps onto the ground, refusing to even acknowledge the girl he flirted with every class period. He could hear some whispering around the back of the room, but he couldn't care less as his eyes dropped and his head met the table.
Lily had had a rough night. Sooner or later she was going to need to talk to Cam again, and sooner or later she was going to need to talk to Kegan. And there was no way she was letting herself go into a state of depression, she had put herself in this mess to begin with. After her upset the previous night and some rambunctious tears, she had fallen asleep right away. Now here she was, pulling up in the school lot. Her makeup was freshly applied to her neck and face, and today she was wearing white short shorts, accompanied by a dark blue tank top. Let people think what they wanted, she didn't care anymore. At least she was trying not to care. She had fallen asleep before Leigh had gotten home last night, so she still hadn't gotten a chance to talk to her sister. She would just have to deal, she thought, as she climbed out of the driver's seat, slamming the door behind her.
Cameron got up the next morning and got dressed. He got in his truck. He drove to Lily's school. He pulled up behind her car. Hr turned off his car and got out. "Lily can we talk?" he asked as he looked at her. He had a bad night the night before and had to talk to her. She looked perfect, like not had happened yesterday. He leaned up again his truck waiting for her to answer him.
Kegan had to have his mom drive him to school, after nearly running into a wall this morning and dropping his plate at breakfast. His mother pronounced that he was a bit sick looking, but had to go to shook anyway. Tarsiers and absences wouldn't keep him in football. "Bye mom," he murmured, allowing her to for just this omce kiss him on the forehead and ruffle his hair, a ritual back from kindergarten. Kegan dragged his duffel bag across the parking lot, not taking heed tithe cars honking at him when he stepped out without looking into the road. He just couldn't care.
"Talk." Lily repeated blankly, staring straight ahead. She had to get a hold of herself. Anyone could see them, like Kegan. "Sure, we can talk." She replied quietly, looking down at her hands. Now really wasn't the time for talking however, but hopefully everyone was already in the school. She wouldn't mind getting another pink tardy slip, like she had yesterday with Kegan. Why couldn't she go back to those good times? Everything had been happy and perfect back then. Well almost perfect. She took a quick glance around the parking lot, knowing full well that anyone could walk by any minute now. Hopefully it would just look like she was talking to an older brother she didn't actually have.
"I'm sorry. I want to make things right between you and Kegan." he walked up to her "I feel extremely bad. Even though its not my fault because I told you it wasn't right. But I will take full responsibility for this. I will do anything to make it right between you two. I feel so bad for doing what I did. I shouldn't have done it knowing you had a boyfriend. I'm sorry." he said softly. He wanted to talk to Kegan to make things right.
Kegan was about to enter the gates, alone, when he caught glimpse of his lily- or what was his lily, in her usual parking spot. She was talking to another guy, a man by the looks of it. Kegans face fell, and he felt even worse than he had originally been feeling. If tht was possible. Kegan ducked behind a parked car, watching the two carefully. If that was the guy she was with before, he'd probably slit his wrists. He wasn't Een remotely acceptably on kegans generic standards for rating people, and he felt broken that lily would choose that... That thing over her own boyfriend. Deciding he had enough, kegan stood up from where he was and walked back towards the gate, an angry horn blaring in his ear as he crossed the street.
"Things can never be right between us. And it's not your fault. It's not like we had sex or anything." Lily sighed, distraught and running a hand through her hair. At the sound of the beeping of a car horn, she looked up. "That's him." She hissed between gritted teeth, gazing out at Kegan crossing the street. "That's Kegan." She whispered quietly, and her heart ached. Lily felt like she was in a music video of some sort. A sad one. "I'm going to go talk to him." She said, having made up her mind. Locking her car, she darted out into from behind her car, calling out, "Kegan!"
Kegan heard his name called by the voice e knew so well, and refused to turn around. Instead, he walked more briskly ino the school grounds, shouldering his burdens with a straight and stony face. Kegan was so unhappy, he could feel wrinkles forming from the stress. Many people looked at the once lively and flirty kegan, shocked to see what he had become. He ignored lily as much as he could, refusing to hear her speak.
He was ignoring her. But what had she expected, really? For him to forgive her? Lily already knew that wasn't going to happen. Looking over her shoulder, she waved at Cam. "I'll talk to you later!" She told him, turning back around and jogging onto the school grounds. Kegan couldn't make a scene during school, it would just end badly for the both of them. She just had to remember that night. That oh so perfect night when she slept over his house. That would be her motivation.
Kegan dragged himself through the school day, often caught with his eyes closed or his head down on his desk. His teachers nevert bothered him, and neither did his friends during passing period or lunch. The boys locker room even had an eerie quiet, causing the coaches to come in to make sure nothing suspicious was occurring. Kegan warmed up for the focused practices that would prepare him for the big game tonorrow. The homecoming game, the game he was supposed to be announced the homecoming prince, lily his princess. Kegan tugged on his helmet, shutting out all the cheerleaders back on the field. Now, to work on kick practices and his form with his varsity coach. Kegan could hardly focuse however, his thoughts elsewhere.
Lily would work towards how they had been before, how they had been the sleepover night. Because that had been one hell of a night. She made it through the day with little to no problems, it seemed like Kegan was avoiding her anyways. After school was finally over, she dressed in her cheer uniform and made her way out onto the field. Couldn't Kegan understand how sorry she was? Lily didn't want a whole other night of crying. That wasn't on her to do list. Especially when the home coming game was almost upon them, and it was likely that she would get elected with Kegan. Very likely, to state the facts. Her eyes remained on Kegan, watching him move and just go through his life. Why hadn't she noticed him this way before, before it was too late?
Kegan missed his fifth kick in a row, and he collapsed into te grass breathing heavily. He had to make these kicks, or he couldn't play in the game! His coach offered him a break, cutting some slack on one of his best players. He had to make these kicks. Kegan sobbed in frustration, yanking off his gloves and chucking them as far as they would go. The team began looking at him anxiously, terrified for the outcome of tomorrow's game. Kegan was their only kicker- the backup kicker wasn't so good. But now, kegan wasn't so sure anymore. Maybe the backup kicker would be better at this than him. This could be his downfall, get him kicked off the team! Kegan choked on his tears, feeling the mad urgency to practice harder, better. He had to make these kicks. "You ready?" The coach propped a ball in the grass, the football Taunting kegan. You can't kick me, it teased, and he immediately saw lilys face on the front if the ball. Something ticked, and kegan kicked the ball harder and fiercer than he had been doing all practice. The ball soared, into the yellow field goal, almost making kegan faint. A couple team mates congratulated kegan, secretly relieved about his success. Kegan spot into the ground, his eyes catching onto lilys. He tore them away, still destroyed from his breakup.
Libby flicked ashes onto the ground, her face stony and her back pressed against the hot brick of the building. It was later in the day, around lunch, but it wasn't as hot as usual--meaning it wasn't well into the hundreds--but still sweltering. And the heat did nothing for Libby's mood. She was royally pissed, to say the least. She had been nominated Home-Coming Princess, or something like that. How, she had no clue, but she wasn't accepting it willingly. Homecoming, and dances in general, were a sensitive subject. They were her mother's idea of fun, and they involved dresses. Oh, hell. Libby took another drag of her cigarette and shook her head furiously, clearing her thoughts of memories of being a dress-up doll. She hoped, at the very least, her prince wouldn't be the cherry on top of this shit-cake. With a sigh, she tossed down her cigarette, smoothed down her shorts and tank, trying not to think of the dance
Drayven lounged on his bike, arms crossed over his chest, eyes closed as he awaited his friends. He hasn't seen Ash around and hoped he was okay in his new home instead of staying with Kayla. He opened his eyes after awhile, thinking about what class he had to go to first.
Marcus trudged through the parking lot weaving around cars. Sometimes he really wished he could drive. When he got closer to the building he say Dreyven sitting on his bike. He hadn't called him yet but kept his phone number in his pocket just in case.
Drayven didn't notice him yet, yawning slightly. He was glad that he didn't have to go home again that night. Well, he did, just not as early. He looked over and speed Marcus, glad he was okay. He waved at him, "Hey." He greeted him.
Marcus stuffed his hands in his pocket and made his way over to Dreyven. "Hey." He didn't know what to say after last night. He was nervous now in a way he wasn't used to being. Something had changed in Marcus after talking to Dreyven and he didn't know how to deal with it.
He nodded back to him, not sure what to say after that, so he just asked, "So, how was last night? Get into any trouble?" He asked raising his eyebrow. He hopped he didn't, they got him there on time. At least, that's what he thought. He didn't know how his father was like.
Marcus shook his head, his cheeks heating. "No. My dad was his usual drunk self last night. I just locked myself in my room, but he didn't even come up to yell at me." He said. On his worst nights even if Marcus was home on time his father would come in and start yelling. But last night was more mellow than usual.
Drayven nodded, smiling softly, "That's good." He said patting on the bike, "Take a seat if you want." He looked up at the sky, "Oh shit...." he sighed, his eyes narrowed. "It's gunna rain...." He murmered. He looked over at him, "So, what'dja do all night? Sit on your bed and just think about the world? Not that it's bad, that's what I do." He laughed lightly.
Marcus hesitated before sitting on the back of the bike. He stared up at the sky and saw that Dreyven was right. The summer days were coming to an end. Glancing back over at Dreyven he blushed, embarrassed. "No. I did my homework and then stared at the clock waiting for it to be the next day." He did that every time his father left him alone.
Drayven nodded, "I see, sounds boring." He said, "That's why I usually just go to sleep and then wake up on the next day." He said. He hated being home probably as much as Marcus did. Well, if his family was there he did. He smirked a bit, "I'ma get to go home...." He frowned then, cussing in his head. "Damn it...." Then he said it out loud.
Marcus shrugged. "I only stay up until midnight. There's something about knowing that it's the next day that lifts my spirits." He knew it was lame but it was his ritual. He looked over at Dreyven and raised an eyebrow. "What?" He asked.
Drayven nodded a bit, smiling slightly. "I would stay up that late, but the reason I said damn it would be home like they are when I'm gunna have to leave." He said sighing softly. "Let's just say my family and I don't get along very well." he sighed, looking down. "It could be worse, so I don't usually complain about it."
