Nurse's Office

Lily entered the nurse's office with a bright smile, tossing her brown hair over her shoulder. Of course they were aware of her accident, practically the whole school had made sure everyone was aware of it. "My arm is really hurting." She complained with the slightest pout of her lip. The nurse nodded, motioning for Lily to sit in one of the waiting chairs. Lily glanced around, clutching her casted arm in mock pain. Her tank top strap slipped off her shoulder, and she scowled concentrating on fixing it. It was harder, considering it was her good shoulder, and she was trying to use her good hand to technically touch her good shoulder.
((Haha okay XD))Marcus ran down the hall. He was late for his TA class with the nurse. Even though she didn't care if Marcus even showed up he still wanted to try and be punctual. It was how he remained in control of his life even if everything else around him was always spiraling out of control. He stopped when he saw Lily, the captain of the cheer squad, sitting on one of the beds. She was trying to push up her tank to strap with no luck. He glanced over at the nurse to see her pointedly ignoring Lily. He threw his bag onto a chair and walked over to her. "Need help?" He knew he shouldn't be nice to her after what he heard about what she did but he couldn't help it. He felt sympathy for her.
Lily bit down on her lower lip when someone else entered looking up to meet the stranger's eyes. He was vaguely familiar, and he was hot. She wouldn't deny that. He had also just offered her help with a strap, things couldn't really get more provocative than that. Well, they could, but she didn't think of that right now. Lazily running her gaze up and down his body, she smiled innocently. "I could use some help with multiple things." She whispered, giving him a quick wink. Lily didn't actually recognize him fully, but he was hot, and that was the only thing she'd normally be focused on anyways.
Marcus crossed his arms. "Really? You know what never mind." He said going to sit at the desk the nurse had brought in for him. He logged on to the laptop and started working on the records he had been working on entering last time he was here. He couldn't believe Lily. Hasn't she just lost Kegan because she couldn't stop flirting with guys? She needed to learn from her mistake and Marcus giving her what she wanted wasn't going to help. Even though people would probably stop bullying him of he was with her. He shook his head. It didn't matter.
Lily scowled, her eyebrows scrunching up in distress. Maybe they could have a possible secret thing going on, because she was up for anything. Leaning her head down to bite into the fabric of her tank top strap, she pulled it up and over her bra strap. It wasn't the sexiest move, but Lily was all about sexy. She shifted her attention to the boy, watching him carefully with one raised brow. "You're Marcus right?" She smirked, lifting her good arm to run it through her hair seductively.
Marcus glanced up surprised. He was a freshman and an unpopular one at that. Someone like Lillian Marshall shouldn't know his name. "Yeah." He said slowly. "Why?" He didn't know what she was trying to accomplish by trying to tempt him but it wasn't going to work. There was something no one at the school knew about him. If they did he would get bullied even more than he did now. Marcus crossed his arms over his chest and leaned back in his chair. He couldn't let on to his secret so even if lily didn't affect him he was still going to have to act like it.
"No reason." She shrugged, as if she was uninterested. Lily was just a person who liked doing things with the opposite sex, nothing more. Kegan and her, they would have never worked out in the long run. So why not forget about him and have some fun, it didn't have to be public. "Do you have anything you could give me for my arm?" Lily asked, arching her eyebrows and raising the arm up weakly. "After, I really have other business to attend." She added, straightening up her back, and a smile flashing on her face.
"We aren't allowed to give pain medication." Marcus said. He was still suspicious about her behavior. "Didn't your doctor prescribe you anything?" He asked like she should know better than to ask the school for that type of thing. "What is it that you really want Lily?" He wasn't in the mood for her games. This is why no one felt sorry for what happened to her. She didn't try to hide the fact that she was messing around with so many guys.
"Well, if you really want to know," She paused, standing up and brushing herself off with her good arm for effect. "The only thing I want in life is distractions, and boys, and something else that you can guess what it is. I might as well try everything out so I know which one is the one, if I don't try everything I might never find the real one." She shrugged half heartedly, glancing down at the clock on her wrist, which she barely ever paid any attention to. "You're right, I don't know why I'm here. Just skipping class I guess."
"Well I'm not 'the one' you're looking for Lily so you can stop trying." He said making air quotes when he said "the one". "If you want people to not think you're a slut then you should stop acting like it." He turned back to his computer to input more records. "Why do you want to skip class? It's better to go to them so you can show people that they can't get to you. So you can show them that you're strong."
"I am strong." Lily scoffed, rolling her eyes. "No matter what people think of me, I'll always be the popular cheer captain that no one can tear down. I never said I'm not a slut." She ran her good hand through her hair again, this time out of nervousness. "Some people just really like sex, and there's nothing you can do to get around that. Those type of people shouldn't be judged." Lily shrugged, leaning back against the wall behind her.
"But people will assume that you're avoiding class because you're ashamed of how you act." Marcus said shuffling through his papers. "Trust me. I know what it's like." He stopped moving around the papers and closed his eyes remembering his last school and what had happened when his secret came out. "I never said that they should be judged, but they are."
"Or they could assume I'm skipping class because I'm hooking up with older guys." Lily grinned, her eyes flashing with an unknown excitement. She momentarily decided to ignore his heartfelt statement, instead cocking her head to the side. "Not if you have great friends, they may be judged but your friends will stick up for you." Nodding in agreement with herself, she let out a small puff of air and straightened up. "If you ever want to talk, I'm always here. I may be slutty but I'm amazing at keeping secrets and understanding other people, when it really gets down to the dirt." She paused for a moment, scrunching up her eyebrows and contemplating on whether or not that was true. "I take it back, I'm good at understanding other guys, but I'm only good at understanding other girls who are similar to me."
Marcus shook his head. "Thanks but I'm good. I don't need anyone knowing my secrets." That's what had happened last time. He trusted someone with his secret and they ended up turning around and telling practically the whole school. He had to transfer out because the bullying had got so bad. "You know that kind of thinking isn't going to win you any points. Is that really how you want to be viewed your whole life?"
Lily felt a smirk appear on her face, and she stepped closer to Marcus. "For a freshman, you're a pretty smart guy." Grinning and biting down on her lower lip, she perched on the edge of his work space. "Honestly, I'm planning on living out my beauty year with loads of fun. You only live once right? You might as well try new things. I'll probably die in some tragic accident when I'm forty or so. I don't know for sure, things could change." She explained, her facial expression becoming serious. Things could change, things could be better. But she was in too deep, it was too late now and there was no going back.
"That's what they say." Marcus sighed. "Yes you may only live once but you don't want to live those years acting foolish. There is going to come a one when you look back on your life and regret some of your choices. Do you really want these years to be one of them?" He asked looking up at her. She thought she was getting to him with her flirty comments and seductive movements but she couldn't be farther from the truth.
Lily was quickly changing from flirtatious to pissed off, but she wasn't going to lose her cool. "And who are you to ridicule the things I do with my life?" She challenged, jumping off the desk to lay back down on one of the beds. She tucked her arm into her side, shutting her eyes tight. Sometimes, Lily wished it would all end. She wished she could go back to being an innocent little child. She hadn't always been this way, although she had participated in pageants as a young child, if that even counted. Lily recalled her first boyfriend being in first grade, and her first kiss in second. They all meant little to her.
Marcus turned in his chair to look at her. "I'm not ridiculing your life. I know what it's like to do one thing but want another. I'm just saying that you may regret the things that you're doing now later in life. Do you want that to happen?" He asked. His life wasn't perfect. He knew that but that didn't stop him from trying to make it as perfect as he could.
"Are you like a proverb or something? Because everything that comes out of your mouth makes you seem like some old Wiseman." She felt her lips form another smile and she tilted her head back with the lightest of laughs. "It's better to just embrace who you are deep down, and use it to your advantage. This is just who I am, I would've had to face it sooner or later, sooner being better than later." Lily glanced around to check for the real nurse, making sure they wouldn't get in trouble for just talking and hanging out.
Marcus rolled his eyes. "When you have a life like mine you have to learn the hard way. It made me wiser than my years." He said looking away. He had had to grow up pretty fast when he was little or he would have starved. "That's true but isn't it better to try and be better?" He saw her looking around for the nurse. "Don't worry about her coming in here. As long as I'm here she tends to stay away."
Lily wasn't sure what he was implying with his first and last statement, but she easily formed a few of her own guesses. Especially with his, Don't worry about her coming in here. As long as I'm here she tends to stay away.' She had definitely heard that one before at some guys' houses. "I don't know, I guess." Lily scrunched up her nose, sitting back up and latching her good hand onto her arm. "So, like what do you do for this time? Anything I can help you with?'
Marcus shrugged. "I don't know if there's anything you can help with. I normally just enter stuff into the computer for her and if a student happens to come in I tell them to lie down. It's not that hard." He said spinning back around to face his laptop. He still had more work than he originally planned to have left. The nurse probably wouldn't care but she could also revoke his TA position.
Lily had opened her mouth to say something when the announcements came on. She listened closely, frowning when the homecoming princes and princesses were announced. Kegan Luff and Lillian Marshall, this made her smile. Kegan was still taking her to homecoming, right? He had never said he wasn't. So she believed it was safe to assume he was, and if he was off with some girl right now, he was truly no better than her. And she wouldn't be afraid to tell him that. "That's me." She licked her lower lip when the announcements were over, looking up to meet his eyes.
Marcus listened to the announcement for the homecoming royalty. He jerked in surprise when his name was announce. He stood up from his chair and looked over at Lily. "How...I've never....this is a joke right?" He demanded. He had never been picked for any type of event before. This had to be the work of some prank that the jocks we trying to pull.
Lily hadn't realized that Marcus' name had been called as well. She had just assumed it was some other Marcus. "Don't ask me." Sighing, she ran a hand through her hair and stood up again. "Well, I better be getting back to class." She nodded and brushed a hand over her arm. "I'll see you around." Exiting the room, she gave Marcus a quick nod and made a beeline for the hallway. Once she was there she headed back to class, praying to just make it through the rest of the day. Then she would deal with the homecoming game.
Marcus was bent over the keyboard busy putting in records that he didn't realize what time it was. The nurse had had him more busy than usual. Maybe she was mad that he had been a couple minutes late that one day, he though. He mentally shrugged. Oh well. If she was mad then, she's going to be pissed today.
Drayven walked into the room, gripping onto his nose which was gushing blood. He was cussing himself in his head. He didn't even pick the fight today. He looked up, seeing the nurse, waving as he usually did. He shook his head, as if telling her in their own code that he didn't do it this time. He went right to the sink, taking his hand off, hating things on his hands. He closed his eyes, washing his hands off as his nose dripped blood in the sink. He closed his eyes, reaching over to the paper towels, drying his hands and then grabbing the normal and putting it on his nose again.
Marcus glanced up at the sound of footsteps. It wasn't unusual that someone was coming in at this time of day. When he glanced over he saw a boy standing over the sink gushing blood. Marcus was about to turn back to his work when he realized it was Dreyven. "Oh my god! What the hell happened?" He demanded rushing over.
Drayven laughed like it was nothing, "Hit a locker." He said, "With someone's hand on my neck." He shrugged it off. "Be proud of me, I didn't start it this time." He was trying to make it sound like it was nothing even though his eyes were glassy from the tears of pain that he had let go once it happened. He wasn't crying though, no, not at school. Never at school. Hardly at home. Once you started, you never stop.
Marcus grabbed another tissue and pressed it lightly to his nose. "Who was it?" He asked. Now that he had planned to change he didn't see why he couldn't change more than one thing about himself. "I'll kick their ass." He whispered so the nurse wouldn't hear.
"No you won't." Drayven said looking down at him. He couldn't help but blush when his hand was on his nose. Drayven closed his eyes, "It's nothing. Really." He said coughing a bit. He leaned over, spitting blood into it. It was just because the blood drained into his throat, which was totally fine. Nothing bad.
Marcus's eyes hardened. "Yeah I will." He said. He didn't care anymore. "It's not nothing Dreyven. You're spitting out blood for god's sake!" There was nothing Marcus could do to stop the blood and it was making him frustrated. "Here tip your head back and apply pressure near the top of your nose."
Drayven did as he said, "It went into my throat, it's nothing. I promise." He said. "It's not like this doesn't happen often." He looked over at him, blinking a few times. The nurse looked over at them, walking over and looking at Drayven, "What happened this time?"
"Ran into a locker with a bit of a shove." Drayven answered.
She sighed, "Sit down, you know how long your nose bleeds."
Drayven nodded a bit, falling back on his normal chair, "When are you painting my name on this thing?" He laughed.
"As soon as I can afford a tailor worth your name." She rolled her eyes, going to the others.
Drayven looked up at him, smirking, "See?"
Marcus curled his hands into fists. "It doesn't matter how many times it happens Dreyven." He said after the nurse had moved on. "How can you stand it? How can you take them trying to beat you up all the time?" THis was why Marcus was so scared to tell people. He didn't want to face his father everyday and be called a wimp for not fighting back.
"Hey.... calm down." He said reaching up and putting his hand on his shoulder. "It's nothing. Trust me. If I would have wanted to start a fight, I would have." He said with a wink. "And they're not going to get away with it. I mean, I'm a prankster. Most likely their locker will look like a work of art soon."
Marcus closed his eyes and took a deep breath focusing on the point of contact where Dreyven was touching him. He opened his eyes and cracked a smile. "They need to learn." He said moving his face a little closer to check Dreyven's nose. It looked like the bleeding was starting to stop which was a good thing. "Will you still tell me who it was?"
Drayven looked up at him, shaking his head, "It's not important." He said, "And they will learn." He smiled at him, "And good, that means we can leave soon." he said softly, closing his eyes. "If you need to finish things here, go ahead. We'll go soon."
Marcus sighed. He wished that Dreyven would just tell him. Marcus wouldn't go after him but he wanted to know who had hurt him. He went back to his desk and started packing up his things. The nurse was busy with the other kids so she probably wouldn't even notice he was gone.
Drayven waited a few more minutes before throwing the bloody rag away. He breathed in, gagging and spitting more out. He coughed, "That was horrid." He said looking over at him. He didn't know why Marcus still wanted to go to his house. He'd just leave and go home. He didn't know if he'd be comfortable with what Drayven now knew about him.
Marcus slung his backpack over his shoulder and walked back over to where Dreyven was standing by the sink again. He took his chin in his hand and looked at his nose to make sure the bleeding had completely stopped. "I think you're good." He said smiling slightly.
Drayven's skin was ablaze where he touched sending shivers up his jawline. He blushed lightly, "I got you a helmet." He whispered, his voice higher than it was supposed to be. He nodded when he said he was good, "Okay."
Marcus looked up into Dreyven's eyes. Dreyven was slightly taller than him but not by much. "Really?" He whispered back. He wondered why Dreyven would get him a helmet when he hadn't gotten one for any of his other friends. Marcus's fingers were tingling slightly from where he had touched Dreyven's chin but he hid his blush as best as he could.
"Yeah...." He whispered back to him, taking a step forward but stopped soon after. He didn't know why he was so drawn to him. "I wanted to make sure.... that you had something on if we ever went for a ride.... or I came and picked you up." He explained, his voice still quiet.
Marcus could feel the warmth coming off Dreyven's body by how close they were standing. "Why are we whispering?" He whispered, a smile spreading across his face. Something about Dreyven drew him in and made his heart rate faster. He wasn't used to feeling this way.
Drayven's heart was racing like his bike on the open road. He shrugged, "We're inside a building." he looked to the hall, taking a step back reluctantly, "We should get going." he coughed, "Before the rain starts." He said taking another step back and heading for the hallway, opening the door for Marcus.
Marcus immediately felt the absence of Dreyven's warmth as he stepped away. He cleared his throat, his face burning slightly. "Yeah okay." He said walking out into the hall after Dreyven.((I gotta go. I don't know if I will be able to get on again later.))
((Alright. That's fine, we can always rp tomorrow. :) ))Drayven lead him back to his locker, pulling open the thing and pulling out the helmet he bought for him. He bit his lip, "I hope you like it. And I can always take it so your dad doesn't know about it." He handed it to him, smiling a bit, "I hope I got it right?"
(view spoiler)
"It's simple, but cool looking.... I didn't know how often you'd ride with me so I didn't go all out on it...." He said.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Marcus took the helmet from Dreyven and smiled. "It's perfect." He said turning t over in his hands. He didn't know how often he would be riding with Dreyven either but with the way things were going he hoped it was often. "Thanks. That was really thoughtful." He couldn't hide the blush that rose to his cheeks.
