The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan. Clara and Mr. Tiffany is also a really good book.

Outlander is on my to read list. How good is it?

Amazing. I'm behind in the series, as I've only read the first four books. (I own book 5 but can't find it. :( )

I also second the recommendation of The Night Circus; it's one of my all-time favorite books! (Top 10, maybe top 5. I don't know how to decide such a thing!)
