Damon opened his eyes and realized he didn't know where he was. He immediately sat up and looked around. There was nothing in the room except for a girl. "Where am I?" Damon asked her worriedly "Why am I here?"

Ida opened her eyes, looking around. She didn't recognize this room, which to her seemed odd. Her eyes turned to the voice, staring at him silently. She didn't often speak around those she knew, so their was no was she would speak around this person she didn't know.

Damon sighed, annoyed and stood then started pacing, his hands behind his back.

Ida continued to watch him, wondering why he was so annoyed. The child found this boy rather interesting.

"Who are you?" Damon asked the girl quietly.

Ida blinked a couple times, wishing she had a notebook with her to write her name but she didn't have anything with her. "Ida" She answered him after a minute of contemplating whether or not to tell him.

Damon smiled a little at the answer. "I'm Damon." He told the girl.

Ida nodded, and stood up. She wanted to look around at their surroundings.

Damon's smile fell and he looked around as well. There wasn't much to look at though.

Ida turned to look at the 17 year old, silently. She wasn't a talkative child at all, more curious then scared. "Why?" She asked him her voice not very loud.

Damon turned back to Ida. "I don't know." He said quietly. "I wish I knew."

Ida nodded, understanding that they both were in the same position. She sighed, missing her adoptive parents.

"Are you ok?" Damon asked as he stepped closer to the small girl.

Ida nodded sitting back down. She silently hoped she would get back to her adoptive family.

Damon sat down in a corner and rested his head against the wall.

Ida walked over to him and sat next to him.

Damon looked over at her. He wanted to say something but he didn't know what to say.

Ida looked at him, trying to figure out why they would be in the same position. She couldn't see any noticeable similarities between them.

Damon locked eyes with Ida for a minute before looking away.

"How old are you?" She asked, the question meant to break the silence which had settled.

Damon looked at her again. "17." He told her, he was a bit surprised she had talked first when he barely talked even when he asked he a question. "How old are you?" He asked.

Ida simply held up 5 fingers in an answer.

Damon nodded. He wished someone would tell him where he was and why he was there. If only he could find a way out.

"Are we going to die?" Ida asked, as though it were normal conversation. The child having been used to death around her.

"I... I don't know." Damon admitted. He was surprised with her casual tone. "I hope not."

Ida gave a small nod, accepting that there was a chance she may not see her adoptive family again. "I don't like this place" She said, frowning lightly.

"Neither do I." Damon agreed. "I just hope we can get out of here soon."

Ida nodded again in agreement "What was your life like before?" The child asked, her tone revealing that she was much smarter and wiser then most children her age.

Damon looked down. "It was... Good for a while." He told her.

"What stopped it from being good?" She questioned.

"This." Damon said simply.

Ida nodded in understanding "But we'll get out" She shrugged. "Then your life can be good again"

"What was your life like before this?" Damon asked.

"I was with my adopted parents, and it was okay" Ida answered with a shrug.

"Adopted parents? What happened to your real parents?" Damon asked.

"They are dead" Ida answered him, her voice quiet. She remembered her mother's death, as it haunted her daily.

"I'm sorry." Damon thought about his dead mother and what he had done.

Ida shrugged "I don't 'member daddy" She said.

"I guess that makes it easier. To not remember I mean." Damon said, wishing he didn't remember what he did to his mom. But if he didn't remember, what would stop him from doing it again?

Ida mentally thanked him for not bringing up her mother. She could still remember the night as though it were just the other day, but in reality it had been 3 years already.

"What happened to him?" Damon asked quietly.

"He was killed" Ida answered, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Did the same happen to your mom?" Damon asked just as quietly. He felt bad for asking but he was curious.

Ida simply nodded, not trusting her own voice.

"My mom was killed too." Damon whispered. He could barely hear himself.

Ida looked at him, her curiosity peaking. "I saw mommy's murder" She admitted to Damon, it was the first time that she had ever told this to anyone. Most people assumed she only found her mother, not that she witnessed the crime.

"So did I..." Damon whispered. He was shaking, though he felt like he was burning up.

Ida stood up and wrapped her arms around Damon in a way of silent comfort.
