It happened. It happens. It will happen. BUT, it had been getting worse in the US. We know that it will happen more and why it will happen, but do we do anything about it? Thoughts and stuff... Share stories...

The best thing we can do, is make sure we support candidates that support Christians.
Our biggest problem is that we continue electing people who work against Christianity.

That is true.

Waiting for the story from Narnian to be posted...

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 2099 comments Posted from my messages to you and Mojo: I have something that I want to share with you. I was on one of my Facebook pages, and I came across this article and video, about a first grade girl named Brynn, who got humiliated by her class for trying to talk about the meaning of Jesus at Christmas. The teacher's assignment: Each student brings in their favorite Christmas item and explain why it's an important family tradition for them to use that item. She brought in a star, and started to explain that Jesus is the Savior of the world. Her teacher, unfortunately, interrupted her before she could quote John 3:16. She said: "Students are not allowed to talk about The Bible in class."

Feeling let down, Brynn cried on her way home. She was so sure that she was in deep trouble. Her mom was proud of her though, and told her not to worry about it, and that she would talk to the principal.

The Principal sided with the teacher, and then concluded to mother and daughter that if she wanted to express her beliefs in God and The Bible, she could do so in a journal.

I don't know about you, but I find it sad that almost anything and everything that goes against God gets accepted except standing for God. The world is constantly criticizing Christians for not loving enough, yet they can't see the love we have for Jesus. I know Jesus said to expect trials like this, but still.. it's unfair. I know that God will still bless Brynn though.

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 2099 comments I've always wondered some of the mysteries of human nature. If God gives us credit, then why do some want to get accepted by people alone? "Oh I need to lose weight, oh I need to make more money, oh I need to do this, I need to do that, to get accepted." Just... Why? This topic is abut persecution, but I brought this up because Christians are getting no credit by some, thus leading to persecution.

Oh, gosh that's awful.
I know teachers aren't allowed to discuss religion lest they "sway" the young impressionable mind, but why can't students?

I think some people want acceptance from people alone because it's something that makes them feel good right now. Honestly, I get a confidence boost from compliments and enjoy attention.
Sometimes it takes longer to notice the blessings from God.

It can feel good, but God's credit is more important. God's credit surpasses all understanding.

I completely agree. :)

I was just stating what I think we, as humans, can find appealing about acceptance from others.

Terrible stories....

But, we as Christians have to expect this. Evil stops at nothing to torment us because we know the Truth. Think about it, all but one disciple was persecuted to death.

message 14: by brooke1994 (last edited Jan 20, 2014 10:10PM) (new)

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 2099 comments The question is though: Why does evil seek to stop good? It has to be a much deeper reason than "Because it's evil." I have a feeling there's something more. Jesus said to expect persecution because of him. Ok, I get why Jesus was persecuted, but.. do they persecute us just because we follow Christ? Or, is it something more?

The devil seeks to turn us away from Christ. Persecution can become quite hard to handle and he will use that to his advantage to make us give up and turn away.

brooke1994 (formerlynarnian525) | 2099 comments So, now let's look at how a Christian should behave in times of persecution. What do you think? I say that prayer and getting closer to God, even in the midst of trials. Many leave God because many say: "How can there be a God with so many problems in the world?" I think he allows these things to test how strong our Faith in him is. How do you think us Christians should act?

message 19: by Dee, YOU'RE A MOD!! (new)

Dee | 2703 comments Mod
I also think he allows these things to test us. I think of Job...

Prayer is a very good option, as is talking with a strong support group of Christians, and also meditating on the Bible.

Lol, I saw it. It was great, by the way. But in it he says that it's true. The top faith wrecking question is "why do bad things happen?" In the movie/documentary whatever you want to call it, he explains what he seesit like and it makes perfect sense I think.

Right I'll try not to offend anyone here. So it seems to me or at least in my experience with the christen faith, that most of the followers will do there best to try and stop evil either around them or on a lager scale. And most try and follow the word of god and do it peacefully but, evil cannot be stopped well often can't be stopped by just peaceful things. And it near useless to try and stop evil on a large scale because it will always pop up. So what's the point of doing this on a large scale?

Sorry if I offended any one.

No offence. But 'evil' is not black and white. There are Christians I would view as evil - looking again at pedos in the Vatican - and Christians I would view as good - the current Pope seems quite nice.
(I use Catholicism purely because it is the most publicised)
Also, you seem to think the kind of people that discriminate against you discriminate against only you.
This is almost unanimously wrong. People who are discriminatory of anyone will not limit it to a single group. If you don't like Christians, 9 out of 10 times you also don't like Jews, Muslims, or Sikhs...
Also, to cover my own back, most of the radical discrimination comes from other religions. ie, not myself. It's usually Islam, at the risk of sounding judgemental of Muslims... It especially is Islam when you get your face burned off for declaring your faith in Christianity...

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

In a sense evil is black and white just not in certain peoples views.

message 42: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments I really disagree with that. Relative morality.

message 43: by [deleted user] (new)

I know in my family members view evil is black an white in there minds anything pertaining to God is good anything not is bad and that's how they live life unfortunately the sense of black and white is my view too mostly because I have been raised by them for the past 16 years.

message 44: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 21, 2014 05:26AM) (new)

Phantom, you make an interesting point. But are Christians who do wrong things 'evil' or just lost and mislead?

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Rebecca Morstan-Watson wrote: "Phantom, you make an interesting point. But Christians who do wrong things 'evil' or just lost and mislead?"

A better word than "evil" is "sinners." We're born evil/sinners. All of us. Once we become saved through Jesus, we still sin, but are able to repent and turn away. A Christian whom you believe is "evil" has most likely been mislead or even has fallen away from God.

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

*applauds Abby on excellent wording* Totally agree with you!

message 47: by The Phantom (new)

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments I used the specific lexis 'evil' simply because you people did...
But yeah.
Bishops need to stop screwing little boys.

message 48: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree with you about the Bishops, Phantom. Catholics are not the only ones at fault, they are just the most publicized. I have heard of the same thing happening in the missions field. It is really sad and need to end everywhere it is happening.

The Phantom (zerosummations) | 1052 comments Good then. Just to halt any potential 'Holier than thou' attitudes.
The real question is, why do all persecuted groups seem ignorant of each others existence?
