Do your characters have a song?

For me, it'll never be written into the books but my two main characters, Ashley and Oliver, have a song, which is "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz. It's just so precious <3

The main character of my book has a song, though I don't think he'll ever hear it on his home planet. I listened to it quite a few times while writing. Its "This War is Ours" by Escape the Fate.

Great topic! My character's would have to be the Holly Cole version of Whistling Past the Graveyard. For no other reason than I found myself humming it over and over while writing one of the early chapters of the book.

I like this thread, I've thought about this alot with the characters from A Dance With Fury :3

Blood - Still on Fire, Trentemøller

Emerald - Beauty Beats, Beats Antique

I think both songs fit the characters personailties and backstories really well :]

All of these sound so amazing ^^ I can't wait to get home and listen to all these songs :D keep 'em comin' people :3

I've been having a lot of fun listening to the music for your guys' characters ^^ It really speaks to what their personalities are like…or at least how I would envision them haha

@Agustin Ooooh metal haha nice. The chorus is really cool though. And I like that it's really upbeat. Based from this song, I would imagine your character being like strong-willed, determined, and empowered haha I like it ^^

@David that song is really mellow and almost a little eerie haha But I like it.

@Bisky Blood's song makes him seem very like cool or suave haha It's a little mysterious but very compelling haha I bet he's hot ^^ Emeralds song is awesome! When I took belly dancing at my school we would dance to a lot of songs by Beats Antique ^^ I really like the song Dope Crunk too haha But anyway it makes her character seem like she is mysterious a little, like she's got some secret and that, of course, makes her alluring. It's like she's got her stuff together, not to be messed with lol. I bet she kicks butt, gracefully too lol.


Anyway that's just what I envisioned when I hear the songs, I could be totally wrong xp

My first book(the one i just finished) has a song for the characters "November Rain" That's also the title of the book.. By Guns and Roses...

@nicole Dope Crunk is awsome! It's too funky for Emerald's personality :3 I almost went with Masuem and Escape from the Slumdog Millionare soundtrack for her :p

And with Blood... Well... I like him atleast :p

The two main characters of my book Paper Wings are kind of unique - Tobias is a guitarist and Elle's mother was a singer. So they kind of use music to heal each other. Their special song is one that Elle (aka me ;)) wrote, called Wingbeats. :)

Eleni's song is "The Water is Wide."

I've never thought of it being 'their song' before, but there is a tune I listened to on repeat when my 'couple', Stu and Jenny, first met & danced, so it's the actual song they're in the moment of. I put their status in apostrophes as it's complicated. Isn't it always!

It's progressive trance and is called Perception by Cass & Slide. Quite possibly very different to all above!

@Agustin - ha! Is it that obvious? :p They briefly met in a bar before proper introductions and the aforementioned dance in a club.

I wrote a lot of THe Wizard in My Window listening to "Story of My Life" haha...not a 1D fan but it's a good song and conducive to me drifting away and into my imagination zone.

I know the feeling...haha. I do love their music for writing. I wrote a good chunk of my first draft to The Wanted's new album as well.

I wrote a large amount of scenes between the two MC in my latest project, that I did for campNaNo (sorta) to:

Au5 - Follow You (feat. Danyka Nadeau) (Fractal Chill Mix)

And then: Danger - 1:30

Both songs suited the atmposhere at different points quite well.

My trilogy was started because of a song.The song was Away by Breaking Benjamin and it made me think up my two main characters. Things have changed a bit since the first creation but it's thanks to that song they exist at all. As for other songs, my characters tend to have multiple songs that describe them.

I'm gonna have to look up all these songs ^^

Current draft's song is KOAN Sound & Asa - Starlite.

My draft needs a theme tune :p

My main characters Tala and Adrian have "Hold it against me," by Britney Spears.

My current draft characters Lily and Jonas have "Maybe I'm Amazed."

@Bisky whoa ._. it's like i'm being transported lol I really like 'Follow you' it makes me feels ;-; Danger is a little on the creepy side lol but i can see it working its way into your draft lol good creepin' music :p Starlight is a much different tune than the others haha but i likes it ^^

One of these days i'm just going to make a playlist of all the songs listed in this thread and share it here for anyone else who wants to listen. Would be kind of cool to write to other peoples tastes in music and the songs they think fit their characters :3

It would be interesting to attempt to write to someone else's writing playlist. I wonder if it would be like attempting to write in a different genre or emulating someone's style?

I reckon everyone should do one and then play "pick a playlist out of the hat". But how would one do such a thing?
