Sara Val (saraval) Have any of you just wished that a certain book (or series?) hadn't been made into a movie? If so, which one and why? Personally, I hate the two Percy Jackson movies. I feel as if they don't do the book justice, and my opinion is that if the movie is not going to be made according to what the book says, it shouldn't be made AT ALL.

message 2: by chloe (new)

chloe I agree! I wasn't impressed by the Percy Jackson movies. I haven't even watched the second one. I've heard the Beautiful Creatures movie was pretty bad too, but I haven't watched it. I just wish that when they made movies out of books they'd follow the storyline, and not leave a bunch of things out.

Cas ♛ (rowangalathynius) Me three! I haven't watched the Beautiful Creatures movie yet, but am going to.

message 4: by Sara Val (new)

Sara Val (saraval) I haven't watched the Beautiful Creatures movie either. But by the looks of the trailer it seems interesting.

message 5: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 52 comments Beautiful Creatures was set up to be a good film but the acting in it was poorly executed. I never read the books but I can not judge a book by it's movie. It was poor IMO. The sad part is it had some really great actors in it.

message 6: by Cas ♛ (new)

Cas ♛ (rowangalathynius) I know. Like Zoey Deutch who played Emily Asher.

message 7: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (writergal123) | 11 comments I thought the Percy Jackson movies were kinda bad, but I wasn't expecting them to be good so I found I could kind of enjoy if I thought of them as separate from the books. Eragon was terrible.

I haven't read Beautiful Creatures, but I actually liked the movie all right.

message 8: by Ashlee (new)

Ashlee Although it hasn't come out yet, the vampire academy movie is not looking good, they've strayed so far from the storyline and some of the cast is a bit questionable

The first trailer they used was awful. They aired it during The Hunger Games and City Of Bones. The one they have out now does a better job but based on the first one I'm very doubtful I will ever see it. Even on DVD.

Sara Val (saraval) Ashlee wrote: "Although it hasn't come out yet, the vampire academy movie is not looking good, they've strayed so far from the storyline and some of the cast is a bit questionable"

On the contrary, I am so excited for the VA movie. I've been following those books since I was in sixth grade (I'm in high school now), so you can imagine the attachment I have to that series. The VA movie is by the directors of Mean Girls, and to me, Mean Girls was a classic comedy. I'm so pumped up for VA, to be honest, and the fact that Zoey Deutch will play Rose makes everything better. But that's me.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I will vote for the Mortal Instruments. I think that the plot, the props and other characters they have on the film was good. But Jamie Campbell Bower IMHO wasn't fit for the role. And the movie was kind of fast playing. But hey, I love Jonathan Meyers!

message 12: by Christina (new)

Christina Ferreira (readershappiness) | 20 comments Twilight haha

message 13: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments Beautiful Creatures. I loved the books but the movie was just all wrong in my opinion. Now, even the books have a damper on them for me :(

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Vampire academy i love, but the trailer made it look so.... Well you'd know if you read the books that it looks not near as good as the book

message 15: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments Lauren wrote: "Vampire academy i love, but the trailer made it look so.... Well you'd know if you read the books that it looks not near as good as the book"

I agree. I'm worried about it. I love the books I hope its not another Beautiful Creatures.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too! I was so disappointed

message 17: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments I know I was too! I'm hoping that the Vampire Academy trailer just isnt doing justice to the movie itself..but I don't know I'm not crazy over the casting either.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I know I thought of Dimitri as theo james

message 19: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments Yeah! he would have been great I dont know why but I always pictured Steven Strait but Theo would have been great!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah so would Steven

message 21: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments :) To me the guy they have playing him just doesn't seem like Dimitri to me

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

He seems to old I know he's supposed to be older but not that older.

message 23: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments right! thats what i said when i first saw it

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe the movie will be good who know well have to wait for 2/14/14

message 25: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephanie_nichole) | 112 comments actually they bumped the date up to 2/7/14

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Really?!?

message 27: by Sara Val (last edited Jan 24, 2014 01:20PM) (new)

Sara Val (saraval) I did not like who they casted for Dimitri. He just isn't at the 'sexy' level I imagined Dimitri to be in when reading.

I agree! I adore Zoey Deutch, though, so I'm excited.

message 29: by Tessa (new)

Tessa | 23 comments Personally, I wish the Mortal Instrument was not made into a movie. I just watched it and I am surprised that I had enough self control to watch the whole thing without throwing my popcorn at the screen. Nothing was the same as the book. All the directors had to do is change the characters' name and it would be a completely different movie. The characters (Jamie Campbell Bower) were completely wrong. When did everyone suddenly acquire accents? Ughhhhh

A close second is the Percy Jackson movies (although Logan made an amazing Percy). They did not even mention Kronos! They blamed everything on Luke. I have not watched the second one yet, considering I am still recovering from the first one, but I confused about how they can do rest of the movies with that dynamic.

T.J. | 65 comments I would love to see Delirium be made into a movie. The Iron Fey would also be cool. BUT MY TOP IS TID. ALL. THE. WAY.

THEY MUST.

Delirium is being made into a TV movie.

Just a small one, perhaps. :)

message 36: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) I don't want to say Twilight because I'm glad they were made into movies thought I do with the movies had been better! With a better cast and such!

But I'm gonna go ahead and say that I don't think Vampire Academy is gonna be a great movie and I loved the series =/

I think it's gonna give VA a bad name and I wish it would just stay "ours" ya know?

message 37: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) Oh also... I think the fact that they're making 50 Shades of Grey into a movie is a TERRIBLE idea and I won't watch it

message 38: by Laura (new)

Laura Normand | 4 comments City of Bones. Wasn't Clary average looking, not mega gorgeous? And wasn't Jace attractive?

The Lightning Theif. Awful movie. Rick Riordan didn't even watch it. Same goes for The Sea of Monsters.

ERAGON. What a terrible movie for such a promising book!!!

The Host. Corniest. Movie. Ever.

Personally, I think that the directors should involve the authors more, which could possibly create better book to movie adaptations.
I hope the Vampire Academy movie turns out alright, along with the Divergent one.

message 39: by William (new)

William (throneoffandoms) | 33 comments I wholeheartedly agree with you on the Percy Jackson movies. I didn't even see the second one because the first one was so bad. Anyway, Beautiful Creatures was awful. It was a shame because the movie was really good up until the last 45 minutes or so which meant it could of been good but it wasn't. I also think The Hobbit was terribly boring even though I didn't personally read the book. And another thing to add I think that the casting for the Divergent movie is all wrong but hopefully it will be a good movie

message 40: by mack (new)

mack | 44 comments So exited for divergent!! Looks pretty darn amazing :D

Avid Reader and Geek Girl (avidreaderandgeekgirl) The whole Twilight series, they took good books and turned them into a sappy romance!

message 42: by William (new)

William (throneoffandoms) | 33 comments I disagree, they took sappy romance books and turned them into awesome movies

message 43: by Litsi (new)

Litsi | 1 comments I think that the immortal instruments city of bones movie did a poor job interpreting the book. And of course I didn't like who the actors where for Jace and Clary. They just don't give me that feeling that Jace and Clary did when I read the book. Jace in the movie is not what I imagined I thought that Alex Pettyfer would have done a way better job then Jamie Campbell Bower. Just what I think.

message 44: by Bruno (new)

Bruno Hache (katou) | 9 comments I am a bit afraid for Divergent? and in my opinion, The Mortal instruments didn't come out as well as I thought in a film format. I fear the second, if it ever gets finished, might as well go straight to DVD.

message 45: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) I really really REALLY wish they weren't making 50 shades of grey into a movie...

Those books are about so much more than I think they can show in a movie.. I'm a huge fan and I think it will be ruined by hollywood

Yes yes and yes.

Divergent is scary to me.. I almost wish they would have left it alone but what can you do? I'm rooting for it though, crossing my fingers.

Also, yah TMI made me somewhat angry but at the same time in the making of it I fell in love with the actors so I think I will still watch the next one. I would be okay with it going straight to dvd too!

message 47: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) I wish they would have picked someone better for Magnus & Izzy though that's for sure

message 48: by chinami (new)

I agree the movies going to be all about sex, when there is a lot going on in the characters minds that they can't show!

message 50: by Allison (new)

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 52 comments Vampire Academy is doing much worse than The Mortal Instruments did at the box office opening weekend.
