In 2014 the Big Bath Read returns bigger and better than ever before and we are inviting book groups and book lovers to get involved, read, and discuss a fantastic and moving debut novel. The Sea Change tells the parallel tales of an estranged mother remembering the forced evacuation of her community from their village in Wiltshire in 1941 and her daughter on honeymoon in Southern India in 1971 caught in the aftermath of a devastating tsunami, and how both are forced to face up to hidden truths and secrets from the past. Our Artistic Director Viv Groskop describes it as ‘an extraordinary, addictive piece of writing’ which she ‘loved from start to finish.’

We will be hosting special book groups in the build up to the Festival which individuals and book groups are welcome to attend. These will take place at:

Keynsham Library book group on Wednesday 5th February at 2.30 – 3.30pm.

Midsomer Norton Library book group on Monday 17th February at 6 – 7pm.

Chew Stoke Hub In The Pub Community Library group at The Stoke Inn on Monday 3rd February at 2 – 3pm.

The Guildhall, Bath on Wednesday 5th March at 1 – 2pm (£4).

Pick up a copy of The Sea Change from our official Festival bookseller, Waterstones.
