It'd be cool if you could shift into a mythical beast like a dragon or something...Don't you think?

A big cat is what first popped into my head. Then one of you said bird and sounded pretty cool so that I could fly around.
I would love to be a big cat like you said, probably something along the lines of a Panther or my favortie animal a Cheetah. I think it's be amazing to run that fast. I love predatory cats, so graceful yet dangerous.
I would love to shift into a phoenix. I keep waiting for a paranormal romance novel where the hero shifts into a bear or something other than an animal from the cat or dog family. Are there any romance novels out there like that? If so, can someone list the title and author for me.
LOL. Zarifina, I hear you. Actually, I have werebear shelves, etc. by animal. You should check those out. But off the top of my head, I'd recommend Shana Abé's Drákon series. Her dragon shifters are yum. LOL.
Finally!!! Something other than wolves, cats, and dragons! I was being to think that was all there was. Thank you.
Zarifina the new Sherrilyn Kenyhon might have that, Bad Moon Rising. Aimee is a member of a Were-Bear family. The Drakon Series is awesome.
As for what I'd shift into: an arctic wolf (just gorgeous) or a tiger Tigers are my favorite big cats.

Ohhhh, Artic wolf is a great one!

They are so beautiful. Plus right now, the arctic sounds pretty good (it's 100 plus degrees here in Texas).
My first choice would have to be a wolf, just because I am a huge werewolf fan. Otherwise, call me crazy but I think a fox would be awesome. I think they're beautiful and the benefits during human form would be great (cunning, agile, clever, swift, sense of hearing, etc).
I haven't read many books with shifters though, or even werewolves for that matter. I need to get on the ball!

Do you like shifters or Vamps more?
I personally change my mind all the time. Sometimes I find shifters to be sexier, and then the next week I change my mind and think Vamps are hotter! LOL

LOL. There are exceptions, but generally, I like shifters more. They're more in touch with their passionate side. ;)

Shifters do tend to be more passionate, and they rarely hate who they are. Vamps tend to be tortured souls who hate what they have become...

I've read some very appealing vamps lately. My mind is opening to their lure. :)
new_user wrote: "Ah, well, there are exceptions to that too. Tortured souls can make for a good read though. ;)"
I like tortured souls as long as they don't over do it. I mean, if the hero is saying that he hates himself over...and over...again. It stops being sexy, and starts being annoying. However, I do love a tortured soul when the author does it right! :) One of my favorite themes, actually...

I think that showing not telling is crucial with a tortured hero or heroine. Don't just keep telling, show it.
I agree with both of you. He has to have some kind of confidence in himself, even if only in his skills, and showing is crucial. He's terrible because... fill in the blank, LOL.
I've always said I would love to be able to turn into a dragon so I can spit flame and eat people. Flying would be nice too!

LMAO!
It would be cool to be a dragon, but I wouldn't get excited about the thought of eating people. Yuck, too bony for me! LOL

LOLz .. I would go for some herbivorous beast rather than something carnivorous. I can't imagine having to fight for your food. LOL. But really, I can't imagine a cow or a goat being the center of any best-selling novel... ROFL
Maybe a bear.. that makes me strong, lets me sleep for half the year without regrets and gives me a good lifespan. :-) So long as vampires like Emmett don't fancy bears for dinner.

LMAO! Funny.
Hmmm, there are way to many options when it comes too what you could Shift into!
I would be a wolf or some type of cat. Lol.
I would be a bird,a big bird,I always like the things they can do us ground bounds can`t.I`ve read a few bad,and I mean ugly descriptions of dirty, slathering killer weres and was put off forever on them. Now its all I see even when reading about others.,but every bird I`ve read about has been fabulous.
I'm with Barbsis, definitely a big cat! I want to be like Sam in True Blood, who can shift into anything but likes to be a sweet collie . . . I'd like to be one of my housecats for a while! It would be fun to play with them, nap all day and be cuddled the rest of the time *smile*

I love books with dragons and my first thought when seeing the title of this thread was dragons. I think of them as powerful, wise, beautiful and intimidating.
new_user wrote: "I agree, Pam. I hope you like the Drakon series. They're even better if you like historical. :D"I do! I do!
Hmmm...any shifter? I think I would be a gryphon. You get to fly and you're still a little feline. Win-win in my book. For whoever was talking about were-bears earlier, in Rachel Vincent's Shifter series, one of the books introduces a bruin (werebear).I think it's #3 -
A wolf of course. If I was being really imaginative I would say a Perigrene Falcon. Who would not want to be the fastest bird on earth, and fly high in the sky, making stooping dives at 200mph. A killer whale would be cool. But as far as animals traditionaly thought to be were animals are the man eating leopards & tigers of turn of the 20th century India. The Rudra Pryag man eater who was credited with eating around three hundred people in it's ten year career, was thought to be a shape shifter because of it's extreme intlligence in avoiding traps. Also for it's propensity for taking people right out of their houses. Yah a black leopard would be cool.
OK I have had to divided it up like this1. Ocean,Orca or Killer Whale
2. Sky, Peregrine Falcon
3. Land, Black Leopard

Why?
I would love to shift into a big feline (panther, tiger, etc), a wolf, or a Bird of prey!
It'd be fun to be able to fly anywhere I wanted!
