Harry Potter & Luna Lovegood!!! I know majority won't agree but I shipped them SO hard and it never happened. (So sad)

I love that - 'Sea of Doomed Hope'. Or, 'Valley of Lost Dreams'.

Non-canon shippers are doomed to be heartbroken!
@Isabelle: I always thought Luna would be good w/ Harry (although I also ship Luna + Neville!). I never did think Harry + Ginny was the best pairing, for some reason.

Same. Even Hermione and Harry would have seemed like a better fit in my eyes. Although I would never do anything to break Ron & Hermione apart. They're too adorable together.

DEFINITELY Artemis and Holly!
I agree, I thought Harry and Ginny were a bit dodgy as a couple too... I mean the Bro Code clearly states "A bro will never ever get with a bro’s biological mother or sister."
C'mon Harry.

Keladry and Nealan from Protector of the Small. It's been three years since I last read this series, but I remember wishing that they were together. *glares at my favourite author* Apparently they just weren't meant to be.
Tirzah wrote: "This one is controversial, but I rooted for Artemis Fowl and Holly Short...my imagination say they eventually do!"I must say, I never really thought of those two getting together, but now that you mention it, I agree! :D

Agreed!
Agreed!
Ooh, I do like Harry and Luna together, though I actually really love Ginny. She was boring in the movies, but she was awesome in the books. Like, she was possessed by Voldemort and survived, was fierce and athletic and was an awesome Seeker replacement for Harry, and she dated other guys instead of pining after Harry because he doesn't want her. And she was friends with Luna before Harry was! And yes to Artemis Fowl and Holly. So sad the ending just left them as friends :(
I also really wanted Alex & Sabina from the Alex Rider books to become an item. If you have read all the books you know that the author crushed and sunk that ship
Stephanie wrote: "YES. Honestly the ending to the Alex Rider series was kinda depressing."
Ikr? Anthony Horowitz seems to enjoy depressing endings. The ending to his Power of Five series was also quite depressing.

I always shiped Neville and Luna together, but they didn't end up together. This is kind of a weird ship but...I always shipped Thalia and Nico from the PJO series. I know there's one more book, but it's def not gonna happen.
H99 wrote: "*sigh* Nope, never. I found myself hoping for that ship for a while... but then Thalia went and ruled that out forever."Ya :(
If Bella chose Jacob rather than Edward. Mmmmm...interesting! {or at least, i think it is a topic that's interesting}
Yeah I was really hoping for Jacob and Leah! I thought they really understood each other and it was nice seeing their relationship develop (if only for a short while). Plus, would have been a lot less creepy then the thing he had with Renesmee.
I've always had this thing where I root for the guy the girl DOES NOT go for or vice versa...so basically; Jacob Black, Draco Malfoy, Jem Carstairs (though he sort of does get with the girl), Luna Lovegood (w/Neville), Alexander 'Cal' Callahan (from Hex Hall - particularly upset about this non-match)...that's all I can think of right now...but when I think of more matches that never came to be, I will definitely add!
Tirzah wrote: "@Isabelle, that's an interesting concept...I never even considered that, but they kind of would make a good couple. I was never really keen on the whole Harry and Ginny relationship. This one is ..."
oh my gosh!!! Holly and Artemis! Yes!!! I wanted them so badly to be together; Holly is obviously quite a bit older, and Artemis is intellectually old but still emotionally unstable but that moment in the one where they time travel and Holly's been shunted back a few years and nyaaaahhh...made all my hopes go up and then Artemis stuffed crap up and NYAAAAAH!
I'm convinced that Bella and James would have been an awesome couple with loads of hate-sex and wangst.
Vanessa wrote: "Neville and Luna!"Yes! That was one change I was okay with the movie making. Neville and Luna are adorable.
In this book
I really wanted Claudia to get with Jared... And that's rare for me, usually I completely agree with the author who matches up with who. :p
you guys will probably throw stones at me if I say draco n hermione *ducks n falls on the floor with hands covering head*

I think certain novels have characters that would have great lives irrespective of whether there was a 'significant' other in their life or not or whether they ended up with each other or not- and that can be a great message too - there is no single 'true love' person in any case, we can all have successful fulfilling relationships with more than one person. Right now 4 come to mind: Age of Innocence's Archer and Ellen
The Wingless Bird's Agnes and Charles / Reginald
The French Lieutenant's Woman 's Charles, Ernestina and Sarah
The Governess' Lockwood and Jane
Every major character from Middlemarch
Artemis and Holly from Artemis Fowl & Luna and Neville from Harry Potter. I was so sad when J.K. said that Luna marries some dude who wasn't even mentioned in the series.

Agreed! I always pictured Luna with Neville - it felt weird to have her be with someone whom we never even met, or got to know through the series. They would have made a brilliant couple, I think :)

I was bummed about Neville and Luna not getting together. Luna's marriage with that random dude is the one cannon thing in the HP universe that I disregard.

Although I feel Neville makes for an excellent single Hogwarts heartthrob hipster Herbology teacher. Has J.K. ever said what Neville's situation ends up being?
According to JK Rowling 'Sometime before 2014, he married his former classmate and D.A. member Hannah Abbott, and the pair lived at the Leaky Cauldron, where she became the landlady.'

And...for some, unknown reason...Fate had it in for you and they never did?!
Here's the spot to talk about those book couples who you wish had gotten together. Whether they decided to be all on their lonesome, or ended up with someone else - this is your chance to prove that your pairing is superior!
