I was really excited to read this book because it had high ratings and good reviews on this website. However, when I actually read it, I was disappointed. The characters and plot were predictable, and it just overall fell flat for me. Did anyone else have this reaction?

Tammara Webber was one of the first author that wrote a book with twenty-something main characters. In some ways, she (and some other authors) introduced the mature young adult/new adult genre.
I think that if you read it now, it's possible to not find nothing special in the book, because there are hundred more books with tortured hero that protect a heroine in danger, and most likely you have already read them. But at the time it was published, it was a refreshing book in so many ways.

I started this but couldn't finish. The character's reaction to an assault was so unrealistic (only weeks later she's complaining how she hasn't gotten laid in ages) that I couldn't stomach it. I felt it trivialized rape.
I actually liked it because it was so easy to read. I read this after reading all these overly complicated drama filled romances, which I loved, don't get me wrong. But this is one of those breather books, ones that make you appreciate the small things in life and remember that simple is okay. SO I would try reading again later when you need a quick break.
I read this book over a year ago but I still have to say it was still a good read. Some think the story was predictable but I don't think so. Some aspect were typical but overall the story was awesome. The author did an amazing job on pace and character development. The story was shocking and angsty but what I love most about this book was Lucas, something about him was different from any other hero character. For instance, what Lucas endure would scar any individual that you would think he would be become bitter and cynical or jaded but he did not showcase his torment. How the author wrote this book was that she describe so beautifully Lucas's agony and torment. She made me feel everything. I would definitely read this book again!
Right now I am currently reading it for the first time and I have to say I'm loving the book so far. In my opinion, the plot is interesting and the characters are cool and easy to relate to (no pun intended).
A friend told me about this book. I did find it to be quite predictable. With him taking the cup and writing his number, to him being the self defense instructor, even him being the SI teacher! I still enjoyed it though.
I loved this book. The way this book is written, it's so easy to read and relate to with characters and yes Lucas really stands out, I don't know what it was. In spite of all the drama it leaves you with this peaceful and sweet feeling.
I read this books ages ago (way before the whole 'new adult' genre was buzzing) & I have to admit I didn't love it. Nothing much & I do agree it fell pretty flat.
I absolutely loved this book, so much so that I recommended it to my teenage daughter. This is more than just a good story, it is one that teaches lessons without coming off as preachy. Everyone who has ever been to a party or just walking alone in a dark parking lot at night can end up in Jacqueline's situation. This story teaches basic self defense and also to report any assault. I truley am looking forward to Breakable.
No...I love this book. I love the fact that Jacqueline could have been "any girl" and had this happen to her. I thought Lucas' backstory was unique.
I've read a ton of NA romances lately, and a lot of them follow a common path. What is unexpected in this book is that Lucas is not a billionaire, a rock star, a professional athlete nor an Alpha/Dom. Jacqueline is neither a virgin nor a slut and neither a princess nor a doormat.

Aren’t just about all romance novels predictable though? I rarely read one that I don’t know in the first chapter exactly how it’ll end up.
