ash Dwarves: originating from the Enchanted Forest, they are a race of people hatched from eggs who spend their whole lives in mines. They are born to work, raised to work, and enjoy work; and they do the most important work of all, mining fairy dust. It’s what keeps the magic in the Enchanted Forest moving. They generally have no lives beyond that. Their gender tends to be male.

Fairies: originating from a land above the Enchanted Forest, they are a long-lived race of magical beings who can increase and decrease their size at will. They spread magic through the world, and are ruled by the Blue Fairy. They can lose their magic, and with their magic their wings, and then they become human-sized. Their gender tends to be female.

Genies: they are a mysterious race of people who protect themselves by spreading misinformation about themselves. There are only three genies who can be magically commanded by the people who find them, however, and these grant three wishes. These wishes usually rebound badly on the wisher.

Giants: originating from a land in the clouds, they are a race of people much larger than your average human joe. They grew crossdimensional travel beans, until they were all massacred and killed. Anton is the only one left.

Humans: easily the most populous species, humans are small, squishy, and usually depowered, although they can channel magic. Humans from the Enchanted Forest have stronger-than-average hearts.

Magical Constructs: Pinocchio is the only known magical construct. Made of wood, he’s animated by the heart of the tree he came from and Geppetto’s wish for a son.

Merpeople: originating from the the oceans, merpeople have human tops and tail ends. Mermaids are the ones usually known to the surface world. Mermaids can get just about anyone pregnant, since they make a pouch in which to deposit their eggs on their mate.

Ogres: originating from the Enchanted Forest, ogres are mostly blind, but their strongest sense is their hearing. There were at least two Ogre Wars between them and humans.

Trolls: originating from the Enchanted Forest, trolls are large, clumsy, and generally stupid. Get between them and something they want, however, and they’ll grind your bones to make your bread.

Vampires: they originate from the World without Color and are made by feeding someone vampire blood, killing them, and then feeding them the blood of whatever species they were. 0-50 year-old ones can be killed by staking, and have a mild hypnotic ability that can be shaken off by the strong-willed. 50-150 year-old ones are killed by staking and burning, and have a stronger hypnotic ability and superspeed. 150+ are killed by staking and burying at a crossroads, and gain the ability to shapeshift. They’re also mildly allergic to garlic, although most of that is politeness. Water blessed by a fairy can immobilize them.

Dracula, the oldest vampire, can only be killed by staking, burning, scattering his ashes at a crossroads, and salting the earth they fall on. As they grow older, it’s harder for them to heal from injuries without a grave of dirt from their homeland. Without a steady intake of blood, they turn into living corpses. Animal blood can sustain them for a while, but not very long.

Werewolves: originating from the Enchanted Forest, werewolves are humans who turn into wolves at the full moon and have the advantage of the senses of wolves the rest of the time. A human will become a werewolf if born with the ability or scratched by one. At first, werewolves lose their identities when they become the wolf and run on instinct, but they can gain control over the wolf if they merge with it on a conscious level.
